The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.
The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.
And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.

[Carlisle says that plainly, as though it should be obvious, but seems to realize it isn't a second later. He walks over and grabs his bag, grunting as he hefts it into his arms, saving his answer for once he's dropped the satchel equidistant between the two bloodwort shrubs.]
The fruits of the bloodwort have several alchemical properties, but they can be dreadfully messy should anything pierce the outer skin, hence the name.

[He's seen some shit, Carlisle. But he just watches Carlisle retrieve the bag, rolling up the wet sleeves of the open button-down he's wearing over t-shirt; it had been practical enough before the rain, but now it's less so.]
That makes sense. What sort of properties?
[He kneels carefully next to one of the plants, taking a look at the roots and how much dirt they'll need to move to cover them back up.]

[Carlisle doesn't disclose whether or not he is adept in such applications, but the hint of a smile that crosses him as he kneels beside the shrub and starts pushing the roots down says it's likely.]

Good to know. Any sort of medicinal purposes that are useful here?
[Because something like cancer is not exactly an issue in this place--at least not that he's aware of--but he distinctly remembers a lack of pain killers and antibiotics sometimes when they were needed.]

[He grimaces just a bit at the term undead. He knows there are some in the city; he just hopes they do not find him the way Armand did. Not all of them can be reasonable, comical skeletons, the only kind of undead he tolerates.]
Bloodworts are often used for salves, particularly those to treat wounds inflicted by the undead. Bites and scratches fester readily, spreading disease. Some infections create more mindless undead, and if not curbed, an entire village may find itself swarmed in a matter of days.

But for now he just nods.]
Yeah, hopefully that isn't something we'd ever need here, but who knows with the events. I heard there was something a few years ago that had to do with zombies or people turning into monsters?
[Or both, but Lance wasn't here for either the zombie or wendigo events and has just mentally combined bits and pieces of what he'd heard over time.]

People have become monsters plenty of times. [He doesn't mean that quite literally, but he continues regardless, resuming his work.] And the undead have graced the city streets more than once. Individuals have been brought through the door, and the gods have sent the hordes after us. As you said, 'who knows' with their so-called 'events.'
