He was created from chaos, but had chosen to spend his life trying to help restore order rather than cause more as the other monster types of his world were warranted to. Towards the end of his life, that outlook had changed into something a bit more extreme, doing whatever it took to create order. It had cost him his life at the hand of his brother.
