Event Log: Home Sweet Home

What: The event log for the Home Sweet Home event
Where: All over the city
When: June 20th-July 2nd
Warnings: Nothing bad could ever happen now that you're home
It could happen at any moment- any action you do could be cut short by a sudden trancelike state, and so hopefully it happens when you're safe in your surroundings. And of course you're safe... after all, what could happen to you now that you're finally home?
Whether you don't remember Hadriel at all, or you just believe that this entire ordeal is over, you're home for good now, which is something worth celebrating. What happens in your home? Are you treated like royalty or just cast aside and forgotten? How are your friends doing? Your family? Everything is just as it should be and it's easy to get lost in it, even for an unlucky onlooker who may find themselves drawn into your trance and able to interact with you as you mill about your world and your reality.
Snapping out of it is the only way to end this trance, and you've got to eat and sleep at some point, but how can you go back now that you've been teased with what you desire (or maybe even fear) the most?► This log covers June 20th-July 2nd.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die of homesickness let us know here.

Yes, we'll have a large with pepperoni, green peppers, and spicy sausage. And I'll have a lemonade to drink. How about you, Rey?
[sounds like Rey doesn't have much to go home to]
no subject
What she's having. [Rey jabs at finger in Laura's direction. It's the quickest thing she can think of on the fly, but luckily she doesn't mind a good lemonade every now and then.]
[Once the server finishes punching in their order on a computerized terminal, she tells them it'll be a ten minute wait, and hands them some glass cups. She tells them to have a seat and their pizza will be there soon.
[Some things about the world never change, do they?]
All right. Where would you like to sit? [There are some nice windows that overlook the street.]
no subject
after she's told to have a seat, Laura stands on her tiptoes to see over everyone else]
Ummm, there are some seats over there? [she points to the window seats] C'mon. [she starts to head over there]
no subject
[Shortly after Laura spots them a table, Rey moves to follow. There's a lot going on outside the window to keep them distracted -- or to keep Rey distracted when she sits down and stares outside, almost feeling a little melancholy.
[All of this is gone now. She will never see this type of life on these streets again.]
...
[Rey is a terrible conversationalist.]
no subject
Laura looks out the window at the bustling crowd. it's futuristic enough to capture her attention, but ends up keeping her attention are the people. all of them walking like they've got somewhere important to go]
I wonder where they're all going.
[it's okay, Laura will make conversation]
no subject
Where most people in big cities go -- home, work, meeting friends or colleagues or family, or even acquaintances that they can't stand. You know how it goes.
[Probably.]
no subject
Yeah, I guess so. Like home, only on a much larger scale. What would you be doing if we weren't here?
no subject
Depends on what you mean by "here".
[Because that's a whole other existential question.]
no subject
she shrugs] Surprise me with the "here."
no subject
Well, if I wasn't here, I'd be dead. [She pauses, then adds:] Was revived in this city after my last death.
[In a way, maybe Rey sees this place as her home in the sense that it's where she was, essentially, "reborn" as the person she is now. It was a significant event for her, albeit a very painful one.]
no subject
...oh. I'm sorry, I didn't know that you'd--died. But. They were able to bring you back? So that's good.
[she's tripping over her own tongue here. she knows she's not the only person who died in their world before coming to Hadriel, but this is the first time she's heard of someone dying in their world and being revived there]
no subject
You didn't know. Had died a lot, actually. This isn't even my first body.
[For such a subject, she's way too nonchalant about dying.]
no subject
[she holds herself back from asking if it's weird, what it's like, how'd it happen, and why it happened. she gets the feeling that those questions wouldn't be appreciated]
no subject
Mn. They were all produced almost a hundred years ago. Have had this one for about... [She pauses to do the mental math.] Sixteen years now? Including the time spent here.
[Safronov being the most recent identity and last owner of this body. The rest are supposedly in the hands of that psycho synthetic bitch, IV.]
no subject
Sweet sixteen. [she holds her glass up for a toast] May it be a good one.
[that sounds very very very unpleasant]
no subject
[Hopefully that'll never happen again.
[She snorts at Laura's toast.]
You know, it's always confusing about age. Do you count the day you were technically made, or "born"? Then how do you factor in the time and experiences of eight different people that's been injected into your brain?
[She shakes her head as their pizza comes delivered to their table by a young woman with a mechanical arm and a console on here forearm.]
no subject
I wouldn't even know where to start with any of that. I think I'd celebrate the day when I was me. Or you were you in your case. I mean, do you remember the eight other people you were?
[Laura knew that such augmentations were commonplace but seeing them in person is another matter]
no subject
I do. All of them. [It's still hard to deal with sometimes, but she's managed so far.] It's always been hard to say which is the real "me".
[Other than who she is now, which is... complicated.]
no subject
Ugh. Really? That sucks. [and it does. Laura remembers the times BOB invaded her mind and imagines it must be something like that] And if you don't mind me saying? You're you. And I like you.
no subject
[She just shrugs.] It's not... all bad. Their experience has been helpful.
[Rey got through some rough times due to those memories. She owes a lot to them -- both her survival and her sense of self.]
Don't mind at all. Um, thanks. [She manages a wry smile.]
no subject
...mind if I ask how? You don't have to answer if you don't want to.
[because Rey is her friend and the last thing Laura would want is for her to be uncomfortable]
You're welcome. [she gives a warm smile back]
no subject
They're not all bad. Every one of them is a skilled soldier, from linguists to engineers to exceptional snipers. You'd be a dumbass not to take advantage of that knowledge. Not like anyone else is using them.
[She picks up a slice of pizza, but doesn't take a bite right away. She looks pensive for a moment.] And... no one else would have remembered that those women were real people once, with lives of their own...
no subject
That does sound like a lot of useful skills that could come in handy real easy.
[she waits calmly, a thoughtful expression on her own face] Then it sounds worthwhile. To remember them. It sounds like someone should.
no subject
[Rather than speaking with her mouth full like her usual uncouth self, Rey swallows hard before she replies:]
In a way, they've kept me sane. Or... made me feel sane again -- or both.
[Casual shrug. Another bite of pizza. Nom.]
I never got the notif, sorry!
If it helps, I'm glad it does. [she gives a self-deprecating laugh] I sure as hell can't judge anyone else's ways of coping.
[she takes a sip of her lemonade and returns to her pizza as well]
it's coo', friend!
yay!
