[Open] Some days I'm built of metal, I can't be broken..
Who: Eleven and YOU!
What: Home Sweet Home event
Where: Hawkins Laboratory and The Upside Down from Stranger Things
When: 20th June and onwards.
Warnings: Talk of experiments on children and animals. Violence, blood & gore, monsters?
☇ Hawkins Laboratory
It was dark, darker than night, somber and silent other than a low electrical humming sound... There was a strange smell too, a clinical aroma, some kind of germicidal disinfectant cleaner. It was overpowering, to say the least. Cold. It was so cold too, enough to make your skin move with a wave of goosebumps. Wherever you were, it didn't feel very welcoming that's for sure.
A quick clicking sound caused a flicker of light at the ceiling, a strip light above you buzzed to life, almost neon with how bright its bulb shone down over the depressing room. A bleak tiled floor, hospital bed with a stuffed toy on its pillow and a small side table were the only things in the room, unwelcoming and cold. There was a small drawing, the scrawlings of a child perhaps on the wall and the door was opened out into a hallway.
If you venture outside of the door, you'll soon come to realize that you're in some kind of testing facility. That much should be evident by the one-way glass windows littering the hallways, all a porthole into whatever experiment was being performed in that room. Some had children sat at tables, wearing intricate headwear, wires, tubes and other monitoring equipment attached to them. There were animals too, in plastic cages, random items ranging from aluminium cans, candles and electrical devices. Display screens with complicated lines, numbers and words quickly flashing over them, taking readings and graphs. Men and women wearing long protective suits, lab coats and even riot gear could be seen coming and going from the various doors that all exited into this hallway.
That's when you'll see or hear her, the young girl in a hospital gown, being tugged and pulled along by two men dressed all in white. There was no doubt, from the shaved hair, her size and sound of that voice she didn't use very often, that this was Eleven.
Welcome to Hawkins Labs, the place she called home for the first 12 years of her life.
She was screaming, not wanting to perform the latest experiments they had planned for her, and not wanting to spend the next 12 hours in a small, secluded closet of a room. Claustrophobia was such a horrible feeling, Eleven would rather attempt to kill everyone in this facility than have to spend any more time in there.
"No! Papa" No!"
Screaming, pleading almost, to a man she called Papa, who simply stood back as if detached and desensitised to her cries for help and of fear.
[ ooc: You can either be another test subject like Eleven, one of the people working there or one of the things/people being tested on. It's totally up to you! Or if you have an idea, just run with it and I'll follow! ]
☇ Upside Down:
The air around you was stifling. Each breath made you feel more and more congested. Small particles were visible floating around in the atmosphere, like the fresh peel of skin that had been blanched by the sun and scraped from the first layer of the epidermis. If you didn't end up coughing then you must have been lucky, because the air was polluted that much was evident from the strange clusters of fungus, spewing their spaws into the air, adding to the misty haze you were trying to navigate your way through.
Trees plant life and even buildings off in the distance could only just be seen. If it wasn't for the strange air, this place could have passed off as normal. Movement from behind a tree, leading into a small opening with some kind of small structure? A human outline, possibly female, from the shape of a dress and thin legs. It was Eleven. She was looking inside a homemade fort, it was coated in a slick, thick ooze, like the consistency of seaweed and sea scum bubbles. Not very appealing at all.
"Will?"
Her little voice called out, curious and cautious. She was being careful as if she wasn't the only thing in here looking for something. That's when you might have noticed it? A movement from behind the treeline. It almost looked human in size and shape, swift as it dove behind some closer bushes. This got Eleven's attention too, on alert the girl ducked down onto her knees, hiding in front of the play-fort. She knew she wasn't alone here, she never was. That thing, that creature was always here as if it was drawn in by Eleven's presence in the Upside down.
[ ooc: Feel free to be affected by the atmosphere of the Upside Down and need Eleven to save you. Chances are it wouldn't be unusual to find other dead/dying people in there from time to time. Also, feel free to have Eleven assume you're one if her few friends? I'm easy going so let me know if there is anything else you want for this!? ]

Hawkens
Soon as she found her, once more the scene changed. She found herself in what could only be a medical or military facility, her clothes replaced with hospital scrubs..yet also a tazer hooked to her waist, hidden under her shirt. She was here for a reason, but she couldn't explain why.
That reason became clear when she heard a little girl screaming out. Sonya understood the need to develop supersoldiers, but only to adults-these were kids, they had no right to experiment on people who had no say in the matter. Hearing the girl cry out was the last straw.
Grabbing a manilla folder from a desk, Sonya made her way down the hall, trying to look for all accounts that she was just doing some lab work. What she was about to do would likely put her into federal prison, but she had lived through worse.
She stood by the T-bend in the hall, waiting till the man watching her door was gone. There were only two other guards by the door: she had to be fast.
Quickly, Sonya pretended to just be walking past, giving the guards a nod in greeting, before quickly tazing the closest guard to her right. The other guard lifted his cattle proud to her, but she quickly restrained and turned the prod on him, knocking him out.
There was no time. She quickly opened the door to the cell, taking the gun from one of the guards as she did so.
no subject
"Hey, what's with you, kid? Why's she looking at me like that?" One guard called out to the other. "Just ignore her, you know we're not supposed to interact."
Eleven shuffled back on her hospital bed, slipped off the other side and crawling under it.
"Hey!" Moving over, the curious guard ducked down too, his gun outstretched on the floor at the side of him as he tried to see what Eleven was doing. "What're you up to huh kid?" The guard by the door turned to see what was going on. "Just leave here, c'mon you're gonna get us in trouble." His back turned fro the door as now both their attentions were on Eleven as he sat there, curled up under her bed.
no subject
The other guard she heard in the room where Eleven was being held. She took hold of the tazer and quickly opened the door. "Too late."
She tazed the guard before he had a chance to react, his form falling alongside the cot.
"Eleven." Sonya kept her voice down as she rushed to look under the bed. "Sweetie, come on..I'm taking you out of here." She carefully reached under the bed for her hand.
no subject
A voice snapped her out of her panic. Opening her eyes, Eleven saw the blonde on the floor, reaching out to her from under the other side of her bed. A slight frown, El recognized her but she wasn't sure why? Was she one of the lab workers? Another guard maybe? So then, why was she helping her? Or was it a trick, one of Papa's twisted tests?
"No! Go away!" Shaking her head and scooting as far back as she could until she was pinned, trapped against a wall and this woman. She didn't want to use her power, didn't want to hurt anyone else, it wasn't fair! It made her so sad and guilty. Why was this woman trying to get them into trouble?!
After a moment, El calmed a little and tilted her head. "Taking me?... Where?" She was confused, frightened but maybe if she knew a little more of what was going on she wouldn't be as nervous?
upside down
she's passed more than one corpse, she didn't even bother checking their pulses. they were covered in what looked like vines. or veins. either way, she wanted nothing to do with that shit.
finally, she sees what looks like Eleven in the distance. what the hell was she doing in here? George goes to her quickly]
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not Will. What is this place?
[and that's when she sees it out of the corner of her eye, moving quickly behind a bush]
...and what the hell was that?
no subject
Eleven placed a finger to her lip, shook her hand and knelt down, motioning for George to do the same. ]
You shouldn't be here. Bad place. Real bad place.
[ Crawling on her hands and keens, she peeped out in the direction of the rusting. It seemed to have gone back into hiding now, but Eleven knew well that wherever she was, it seemed to rear its ugly head. It's wouldn't be long before it came back out. ]
Upside Down.. Other side.
[ Flipping over a stone, showing Gorge the blackened, mucky side in comparison to its smoother side as an example. ]
We're here. It's dangerous. Go home. Go on.
[ Shooing at George slowly, trying her best to avoid answering the question about what was lurking in the bushes. She didn't want to terrify George. ]
no subject
she crouches down next to Eleven]
I'm getting that general idea. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get home.
[she follows behind Eleven, looking curiously out into the darkness]
Is that what this place is called?
[aaaaand, she looks at the other side of the rock. gross]
I would if I could, but number one, I'm not going without you and number two, I have no idea how to.
[...she would freak out a bit, this is true. but again, she's relying on her fast healing]
no subject
As she crawled around and behind some gross, dripping bushes, slime in a puddle that she obliviously knelt in, Eleven peeped up over and caught eyes on the creature that was following- no, hunting them. ]
There. Careful.
[ She pointed, taking George's hand with the other and squeezing it. She hoped that the older girl didn't make a noise and alert it.
The Demogorgon crept around on all fours, currently stuffing its face on, what couldn't be dismissed as human... There was no way they were safe here, Eleven had her power but she always found it draining to use infrequent bursts. No, she had to lead George out as she searched for Will. ]
C'mon. Now. Move!
[ Crawling at some speed, Eleven tried to lead them around and downwind from the monster, until it was just out of sight. She stopped then, panting and giving George a look of guilt and sorrow. ]
I'm sorry you're here. Not a nice place. But... Have to find someone.
no subject
she whispers] Okay. Careful. I can do that.
[she gives Eleven's hand a squeeze after it's been taken. and bites back an obscenity as she sees the Demogorgon. that. is unlike any of the monsters she's seen before. and it's eating a person. eating a person. what the fuck has she gotten herself into now?
still whispering] Got it. I'll be right behind you.
[the slime is the last thing on her mind as she crawls along as fast as she can. all she cares about is getting the fuck away from that monster. there's no way she can take something like that on. but Eleven's look at her makes her wish she could]
Can I help?
no subject
Look out. Be sure.
[ If George could keep an eye out for them, then Eleven could concentrate on looking for both Will and a safe way out. It was always harder getting out of the Upside down than it was getting in it, like a pair of leather trousers after a night out.
Scurrying on hand an knee through monster excrement, the stomach acid digested remains of people and general atmosphere of the place, ( well, what else did you expect that goo to be now really? ) Eleven managed to find them a spot that could be somewhat safe? An old run-down building of some kind. Maybe a school? Without too much hesitation she pushed the double doors open, breaking slimy branches and roots as she did so until they were able to slip inside, into the building. A little cover for now. ]
no subject
Okay. I can do that.
[and she does, watching and listening carefully for signs of the creature. so far, so good. maybe it got full? fuck, she hopes it got full.
she follows Eleven as she scurries through their surroundings. she's trying really hard to not think about what she's crawling through, but she's not having much luck. she's already assuming that there's shit and leftover bits of people and just a general sort of ick unique to this place.
she does not breathe a sigh of relief when they come upon the building. she can't let herself freak out, even though she'd really like to, and follows Eleven into the building]
upside down
as do the bodies, both the dead and the dying. one tries to grasp at her skirts, but it's clearly too late to do anything to save him. fortunately for her, she seems to have come equipped with her sword. though it's not so strange, the days when she would venture outside in Hadriel without it are over. the man who tries to grasp at her skirts, she offers a faster death, stabbing him through the heart, then withdrawing her sword and sheathing it.
Margaery hears Eleven before she sees her, calling for someone named Will. she follows the direction of Eleven's voice, finding her in what looks like a small hut]
Eleven? Are you well?
[that's when she notices the creature diving to hide behind some bushes. Margaery draws her sword and holds it at the ready]
We're not alone.
no subject
Will?
[ She whispered before she realized it was Margaery. Taking one look at the sword and rushing over to stand behind here. This place was horrible, especially when you were unarmed. Maybe now that she was here, (Mike's Auntie, right? The pretty one?) Eleven would be able to find Will and get him out of here. The sword looked strong and she was certain Margaery could wield it! ]
Demogorgon... It follows me. Have to find Will, before it's too late.
[ There was urgency in her eyes, in her hushed voice. Eleven didn't even know Will, but her friends missed him deeply and that made Eleven hurt.
El pushed Margaery into the small hunt and pulled her to duck down with her. There was no point in fighting it head on, that would be a battle over faster than it statted. NO, they had to wait it out and strike at just the right moment. ]
no subject
in a hushed voice] No, it's me, Margaery.
[she's both relieved and disturbed to see Eleven here. relieved because perhaps Eleven can explain what's going on. disturbed, because this is no place for a child. but it is true, she knows how to wield her sword. she's used it before to kill Null, she's confident she can use it against whatever awaits them here]
What's a Demogorgon? And, Will? The boy who was here for a little while?
[she can hear the urgency in her voice and it makes her worry for Eleven.
she allows herself to be pulled along and duck. and she can wait while she breathes in more of the strange substance floating in the air]
no subject
Demogorgon. That.
[ She uttered as the monster stood up on its hind legs like a human, its front legs hanging down like humans too, only longer and clawed. Its faceless head seemed to be in their direction and as if it wasn't already creepy enough, the thing spread open the entirety of it's 'face', parting like a flower made of flesh and teeth. Drool splattered as it called out in a cry that was shrill, terrifying enough to make you wet yourself.
El ducked down and covered her ears, shaking her head the moment it called out. She was just as terrified as any little girl should be, though she had to help, she had to look for Will, she was the only one who could.
A few moments passed and the Demogorgon crept back into the woods for the moment, El raised her head again, ready to answer Margaery's other question. ]
Will. Mike's friend. He's lost... In here... I have to help.
no subject
...oh dear.
[she has never taken on anything of that size before. or that horrifying before. her mouth gapes open as its face splits and it screams. she finds herself out of breath and realizes that ever since she saw that thing, she's forgotten to breathe.
but Eleven is here and she needs to be strong for her. she leans over, intending to shield Eleven with her body and gently lays a hand on her back, trying to soothe her]
What can I do to help you find him?
no subject
As Margaery came and covered her with her body, Eleven could feel her heartbeat. She was scared too. Guilt started to set in and Eleven decided she had to be the one to do the protection. Swallowing, she sat up and offered a weak little smile. ]
Can't be far. Just look. All we can do is look.
[ She wouldn't leave Will in here, not when the whole place was out to get you. If the Demogorgon didn't get you, the toxic air or the parasites, then you'd become part of the landscape and become infested with slime-like plants until you were unrecognizable. ]
C'mon. Let's go.
[ Taking her hand, Eleven made her way out from the fort, pulling Margaery along in tow. She'd fight if she had to, make a distraction so Margaery could escape and carry on to find Will. ]
no subject
she smiles back, doing her best to project confidence]
Then we'll look and we'll find your friend.
[and she's not about to leave Eleven stranded in here]
Yes, let's. The sooner the task is done, the sooner it's completed.
[she wouldn't abandon Eleven, not even to save her own skin. she has her sword with her and everything dies if you cut its head off]
upside down!
Shows what he gets for trying to do something nice.
Instantly, his eyes go wide at the change, taking a breath and exhaling a hacking cough. Holy shit. Okay, children in this city have more demons than he could have possibly imagined. Taako wastes no time in starting to move, trying to be careful, find his way through the... well, can't really call it brush when it looks mostly like goop. Disgusting.
His eyes catch Eleven finally as he sees her duck down, and is about to speak before he looks around, then crouches and knocks his knuckles against the ground. This has progressed from 'bad' to 'beyond fucked', and he has no idea if his magic's going to work here. All he knows is they absolutely, 100% cannot stay.
"Hey." He hisses out, trying to keep his voice low. "Hey, c'mon. You can't stay here."
no subject
This time, when she saw him, he just looked like one of the boys! Mike, Lucus, Dustin and Taako right? Right? He was just another friend looking for Will.
Eleven was distracted by the hissing whisper of a voice, catching her attention and shaking her head at him frantically. "You shouldn't have come!" Waving with a hand for him to stay put, as the creature rustled in the overgrowth a little more, a little closer.
There was no way Eleven was going to let one of her friends be killed here, so when the moment was right, she quickly scrambled and crawled through the muck to meet them.
"It's too dangerous. why did you come!?" She whispered, voice, frantic, full of worry.
no subject
"It's too d-- and you thought going in alone was gonna help with that, huh?" He sounds more deadpan, but the anxiety flutters in his voice, eyes darting and ear turning towards where he hears the creature getting closer. "We have to go. Like, ten minutes ago gotta go. I have no idea where this is or uh, or what that thing is, but we're outie."
Taako fumbles on his belt, suddenly glad he left the house today armed, clutching the center of some ornate star. "Do you know if magic works here? I mean, gonna try, don't get me wrong, but would love to know before whatever that thing is shows. Also, what is that thing. Good note."
no subject
"Fireballs! Protect!" She had no idea what any of that meant, but that was what the boys said Will's character used! Though this was real, this wasn't some game in the basement the boys played for 10 hours at a time.
Eleven lifted her head, looking for the noise, trying to locate both a way out and where the Demogorgon was. There was a slightly fleshy looking membrane that coated a tree off in the distance not far from where she spotted the monster.
"There." She pointed for Taako. "That way home." She grabbed his sleeve shook her head and looked about as worried as she ever had. "Roll a 7." She didn't understand it, it was all just a game back home, but her lack of communication skills meant she took some of the make-believe stuff to heart, thought it was real.
She'd help, that's for sure, there was no way Eleven was going to let her friend get stuck here too! She just had to either distract the Demogorgon long enough or be brave and try to fight it. One thing was for certain, she wasn't going to leave here without at least finding where Will was.
no subject
He follows her line of sight towards the tree, but he doesn't really understand. "What are you-- if that's the way out, we both gotta go, kid." Taako's trying to stop his voice from wavering, but he's not a fan of being in a mystery world with a mystery thing. He's gotten his throat ripped out in fake God illusions before. Doesn't hurt any less, and he has no intention of doing it again.
One of his long ears flicks upward away from him, trying to grasp where he's hearing things from, if he can figure out a good way to get out without being heard. He crouches a bit towards her, keeping his voice at a whisper. "We're gonna go super slow, and super quiet. And if I gotta burn something I gotta burn something, but maybe we can stop all this from poppin' off, okay? Just... stick close."
Gosh, where's his protection fighter when you need him. He swallows, reaching for Eleven's hand, and steps outwards towards where she pointed earlier. "Let's go. Quiet."
no subject
As she leads the way, Eleven kept turning her head, poking it up now and then over gunk coated bushes and fences, parts of the real world that had been infected by the Upside down as it was spilling out through the tears in reality, like a snagged bag of jelly, spilling out to splash and coat everything in its path.
There was a sound, a hideous wet cry as the Demogorgon became angered when losing sight and scent of the two. El shivered and trembled, squeezed Taako's hand a little tighter before taking a deep breath and letting go.
"There! You first, make sure it's safe." It felt horrible telling lies, friends never lied and yet here she was, promising him a way out for the two of them, knowing full well it was just a temporary crack in the dimension. El turned and stood up slowly, facing the monster that currently had it's back to them both only a few hundred yards away. Another deep breath before she turned and smiled at Taako. "Find Will." She uttered, slowly raising her left arm up, her palm facing the monster, fingers spread out wide, readying herself for something by the looks of it.
no subject
So he goes with her, eyes alert, footsteps light. He seizes when the cry rings out, but as soon as she lets go of his hand, he just looks at her like she's gone completely insane.
"What are you-- kid, come on." He's used to being protected, and he's damn used to running, but he's not going to leave her here. "Are you gonna fight that thing? Come on, it's-- you said it's the way out, let's go, outie outie, no need to pull a fantasy christ over here and hack yourself to pieces, alright?" Taako's always run his mouth when he gets nervous, but this is getting to another level. He stays crouched, not making for the exit, and reaching for that star on his belt to place his palm over the crystal in the center. "You shouldn't be doing this."
upside down
He was still dressed in his school uniform, and with the last step he took, he he could have sworn he caught sight of something moving... Maybe it was just the unsettling nature of this place...
"Hey," he tried to voice as softly as he could, "Hey can you hear me?" Akira was no stranger to hiding in the shadows, and so he ducked down as well, just in case.
Sorry!! I'm forever late with this!
It was a close call too, seeing as soon as she motioned to him, a huge creature pale, almost transparent, dripping the goo that coated the place, leap up and over their heads. It hadn't seen them just yet, but it was obvious it was on to them.
She scampered across to where Akira was, on hands and knees, fear present on her face. Placing a hand over his mouth and shaking her head. He couldn't talk, they couldn't make a sound or they'd be done for. Eleven's eyes trembled as she saw the Demogorgon slowly walk towards and then only just pass them. She didn't breath, couldn't dare too and if Akira so much as shifted his weight, then the beast would see them for sure!
