Intro Log: Off my chest

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for April.
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: April 10th-13th
Warnings: Newbies, explosions, and things that are definitely treasure chests and not evil monsters out to get you.

Welcome to your first day in Hadriel! Enjoy your surroundings, meet your fellow travelers, and be sure to start exploring so you can collect as much loot as possible!

On the ground around you may notice bang snaps, scattered haphazardly. Try not to step on any of them, or you might burn your feet! Feel free to gather them up and use these baby fireworks however you see fit; there are dozens strewn about on the ground. Popping them will emit clouds of smoke of various colors, and... well, not much else.

Is there anything else lurking around? Glad you asked! If you look around, you may find a few innocent-looking treasure chests. Which you know, normally means free loot- except, in Hadriel, nothing is quite the way it's advertised of course and the chests are actually dangerous mimics. Mimics- often disguised as treasure chests- are monsters with surprisingly quick movements and gaping maws filled with teeth. They exist to try and fool an unlucky traveler into thinking they've gotten something good... only to lunge at them in their moment of triumph and prove that life is actually terrible and nothing comes for free.

Once you've managed your daring escape from the colosseum, feel free to go explore the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

No. [A pause.] You could try. People might not like it, though.

[ she grins. ] Thankfully, I'm used to people not liking the things I do. It's rather routine these days.

[fadeling]

Oh. Maybe you should try, then.

[ichaer]

Maybe. It's not like there's much to do when you're trapped in some weird cave city full of monsters.

I am actually. I've been been working on a bestiary for a few weeks now. I'm hoping it'll be useful to have information on the monsters here in one place.

[ she shifts, adjusting the weight of the two swords strapped to her back. ] I'm also giving lessons to those less experienced in fighting. It's unwise to let them go without some defense training.

Sob DW you're supposed to be better than LJ ;o;

You're helping them help themselves. That's good. [It works out better in the long run that way. Defending the defenseless is one thing, but if they can help themselves it's even better.]

Most people don't notice. But you help them.

[ichaer]

Someone helped me like that once, I figure I can do the same here. [ back when she was small and defenseless. a princess from a kingdom burned to the ground. ] We all victims, brought here without warning and I won't let anyone be hurt by those creatures.

[ it would go against everything in her heart about being a witcher. it would against everything she wanted since the defeat of the wild hunt and the realization that she could help others. ]

It's okay if they don't notice. As long as they're safe, I'll be happy.

Yes. Helping the helpless, healing the hurt. I do that too. It doesn't matter if they remember me. What matters is I helped.

[I's exactly the way he feels about the whole thing and he immediately likes the woman much more than he might have otherwise. It's easier when people understand him. Maybe he'd be able to help more people that way. And knowing which people would help was good too.]
