You wake up on the hard earth of the colosseum. By the state of things and the various aches and pains in your body, you've probably been passed out there for awhile. A few things should immediately become clear to you upon an initial assessment.1. You're not aloneOf all of these alarming things, the skittery object might be your largest concern. Be wary when turning corners or shutting out the lights: the Hunters work best when your vision is obscured, so their gelatinous form is even harder to spot. Their main goal will be to kill people of course, though they prefer to hide in corners and smaller rooms. Watch out when trying to work through the halls of the colosseum to find the outdoors- they're surprisingly quick, and they prefer to kill their prey by opening their face-flaps and wrapping their mouths around your head. Fun!
2. You're near other people who look to be in a similar state.
3. You're also near an assortment of human shaped lamps.
4. You're also near something that skitters off into the shadows of the colosseum.
More information on Hunters can be found here!
Second largest concern? Maybe it's the people lamps. Maybe it's the actual people around you. Whatever it is, be sure to familiarize yourself with it quickly. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't, after all.
All done with the horrible monsters and awkward greetings? Try your hand at exploring the rest of the city! Find a house, find a new monster, or simply scavenge for supplies until your little heart is content. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers November 10th-17th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well!
► All characters now arrive with phones that have network communication.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Yet it was inevitable too, that they would be attacked with the amount of noise they were still making and the enemies so close by.
One body hit the floor, and Legolas spun to look at what was happening behind him. Quick thinking, less than a second to notice the bones showing through a translucent body that yet held a lot of strength to it. He had never seen creatures like that before, but he had seen and fought worse. Legolas bared his teeth, grunting in displeasure and hacked off a flailing arm first, yet before he could help Max further, another of the Hunters jumped his back. It had no time to do much though before he tossed it over his shoulder and sent it sprawling across the floor until a good few feet away from them. It recovered quickly, not not quickly enough to avoid a black knife - nearly invisible in the darkness - thrown its way.
Another threat out of the way, Legolas turned again to Max and the sound of his struggle.

Three against two weren't such bad odds, especially as Legolas sliced one in half before they could even fully spring their ambush. It was a little worrying though, that the creatures were smart enough to coordinate an attack.
Max saw the flash of the blade and felt a spray of, what he assumed was, blood, but he wasn't sure where the elf had struck the creature, more than preoccupied with keeping it's gaping mouth away from him. It doesn't matter, the strike helps enough to distract it that Max is able to twist and throw the thing off him further, keeping his grip on the creature to bash it's head mercilessly against the wall... about a dozen times. When the thing finally stops moving Max's hands, and probably his face and chest, are covered in black ooze seeping out of the creature.
He doesn't waste any time, pushing himself back up to his feet and pulling out his own knife. His focus flickers around the rooms, checking the three lifeless bodies, then his companion, who seems fine, and he's fine. He slips the knife back into it's holster on his vest and give the elf a curt nod. He's good to keep moving.

"Stay close behind me," he murmured, a breathy whisper that did no carry farther than Max's ears, the way only elves could speak. Legolas sheathed his sword and the retrieved knife both, still ready to attack at a moment's notice however. His ears remained peeled for any sounds and still there were many. It was only a matter of moments before they were tracked down and hunted again. These creatures, they weren't pack hunters, their coordination wasn't the greatest, yet they still managed ambushes well enough.
He walked first again, step slow and careful. And once more, each time he would spot the hall opening up to a room or a turn on either side, he motioned for Max to come closer, pointing the direction to check while he did the other side.

With the way the sounds echoed off the stones of the hallway, he could hear the skittering but had no idea which direction it was coming from. Hopefully, his companion had a better idea, but he wasn't holding his breath.
He's already stepping in closer to pass Legolas and take a look in the room off to their right as Legolas took the left before the elf even finishes motioning to him. Each empty room made the quiet scraping noises seem that much more ominous. Max didn't like being hunted by things he couldn't see and these closed in dark walls felt claustrophobic at best.
Another set of rooms checked and he shook his head as he exited the off shoot and met back up with Legolas. All clear. Again.
