hadriel_logs | INTRO LOG: FACE OFF

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for November. Don't get your face eaten!
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: November 10th-17th
Warnings: Monster-related violence, people lamps, general unpleasantness, mass confusion.

You wake up on the hard earth of the colosseum. By the state of things and the various aches and pains in your body, you've probably been passed out there for awhile. A few things should immediately become clear to you upon an initial assessment.
1. You're not alone
2. You're near other people who look to be in a similar state.
3. You're also near an assortment of human shaped lamps.
4. You're also near something that skitters off into the shadows of the colosseum.
Of all of these alarming things, the skittery object might be your largest concern. Be wary when turning corners or shutting out the lights: the Hunters work best when your vision is obscured, so their gelatinous form is even harder to spot. Their main goal will be to kill people of course, though they prefer to hide in corners and smaller rooms. Watch out when trying to work through the halls of the colosseum to find the outdoors- they're surprisingly quick, and they prefer to kill their prey by opening their face-flaps and wrapping their mouths around your head. Fun!

Second largest concern? Maybe it's the people lamps. Maybe it's the actual people around you. Whatever it is, be sure to familiarize yourself with it quickly. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't, after all.

he shakes his head, not as a response to the questions but as a way to get his thoughts going again. He already has no idea what's happening and now, with the addition of this, he's running even more blind than he thought.

"I did," he states, tone lacking in any real sign of emotion. "And I'm uninjured. How did you get here?"

Because maybe Rogers has answers. He's not holding his breath but you never know.

"Same way as you, only a month ago. Brought in and told it was an accident by whoever thinks they're in charge here." And Steve was disdainful over the self-proclaimed godhood status.

But at least Bucky was in one piece -- so to speak. And talking to him. He'd call that a plus. "There's civilians here as well. Kids. Banner's here, but from what I've seen, they're taking in people from different places. Different experiences. This isn't military." 'Or Hydra', he almost said, but it was implied.

He nods, taking in the information and adding it to the small collection of things he's learned so far. It's not proving to be useful yet but it may prove itself to be worthwhile yet.

"Anyone have a plan?" He certainly doesn't but if there are people who've been here longer than him, maybe one of them had something in the works.

"Survive is the only one we've managed to come up with. Trying to escape hasn't gone so well and we're too ignorant of the facts here to do more than that. We hunker down, we make it through this, and maybe we can get a little more info while we do. The ones holding us here, or the reasons we're here aren't exactly forthcoming beyond 'oops'." And Steve wasn't entirely thrilled with that excuse.

"Delightful," he mutters, more to himself than to Rogers. He's not a fan of playing nice with others and he certainly isn't a fan of not knowing what the hell is going on.

"It's all just one group? Or have things splintered off yet?" Because he hardly expects hings to be a cohesive whole at this point. Dynamics have to tat forming themselves and he is sure that they've already formed within this lot.

"It's small groups; some seem to know each other, like Banner and us, only between themselves. Others are loners. I've got two with me at the house, but I think, if we wanted to, if we worked at it, we could make a collective." It just hadn't been top priority for him. He patrolled. He kept the bears from getting anywhere near the houses, which also provided fresh meat. He did what little he could in a confined area.

He doesn't say anything after that, turning over the information in his head. It's all definitely not what he was expecting today but he's trying to take it all in something resembling stride. It's not as if this isn't vaguely familiar already, waking up in a place you don't want to be and made to survive in whatever way you can. The circumstances are different but the need to survive? That stays the same.

"You mentioned a house," he eventually says. "Where is it?" He's probably not staying with Rogers and his merry band but he can at least know where they are if something comes up.

Steve pointed off in the direction of the houses and apartments. "First, ah, spiraled road. House at the end. There's other houses, other apartments. Barely anything's used right now. You can come by, if you want. Or stay. Or not."

It was hard, this line he was balancing on right now. The mix of shock, surprise, and hope was just... difficult to sort. He didn't want to push Bucky too fast, but they were both stuck here, both having to face each other regardless, so he was trying to make the best of it.

He doesn't say anything one way or the other, just nods. Then, almost carefully, he adds, "I'll tell you where I settle when I find somewhere suitable."

Which is to say, he's not rejecting seeing you outright, Steve. He's just also trying to process a lot right now.

"Good." He doesn't add to it. That Bucky knows he wants to know, that he's willing to share that if only for Steve's peace of mind is a start. A big one. He'll take what he can get.

He's trying, he's been trying even before he arrived here. Trying to get himself together enough to go find him and say...something. He had never quite worked out what that was going to be before he was swept away.

"Do you have people waiting for you?" He's not sure what else to do, what to say and he feels like he might be keeping him from something.

"I, ah, was going to look in the arena. See who else might need help." Because hey, there could be more defenseless civilians, Bucky. It was his job to take care of them. "You can come. If you want." It was an honest offer, but he had a feeling Bucky was going to head elsewhere.

He looks at him for a long moment, seriously considering it but ends up shaking his head. "Gotta find somewhere to stay, get some supplies and tings. I'll-- I might see you later."

It comes out awkward but he's trying, he really is. It's awkward and he doens' know what he's doing but he's trying so, so har.d

"Just let me know if you need anything. If you're okay," he said, not intending to keep the man by his side when he knew Bucky was too volatile at the moment. He needed time, and probably space, but there was only so much Steve could grant him where they were.

He nods. "Yeah, I'll--uh, I'll do that." He was going to say try at first but he knows he'd take the out and say he couldn't do it for whatever reason.

He starts to walk away then, unsure if there's anything left to be said or, for that matter, if he wanted to hear it. Then he turns, looks back at him. "It was good to see you."

The last bit surprises him, brows lifting for a moment before there's a small, hesitant smile. "You too, Buck." At least he knew where the other man was for now. No telling what he'd get up to...
