Event Log: In Need of a Boat

What: The event log for the In Need of a Boat event
Where: All over the city
When: July 20th-July 30th
Warnings: Emotional stuff. You know.

All right, so the gods need your energy. That's not new. You mostly know how this goes... except now it's all in your hands. Instead of the gods forcing emotion on you, it's up to you to pledge yourself to a god and inspire their emotion in others, in order to get the best ships and sails and compasses and all those other things.

So what are you going to do? Set up an elaborate date to make someone feel love... then use the setup for five other people? Wow, scandalous. Start fights in the street? Ooh, spicy! Or maybe you'll lead a yoga and meditation workshop in an attempt to help others find their inner tranquility. How relaxing.

Whatever you do, make the most of it. How many supporters each god has, and the effort they put into what they're doing, directly affects how nice the things they'll end up making are. So if you want food that actually tastes good, lend Hope a hand, but if you want sails that aren't full of holes, well, maybe it's time to work on your streetfighting skills. Rage needs you! And each of the gods definitely appreciates your help. Probably. They might even remember your name this time.

It wouldn't be the first time someone decided to come to the Speakeasy to provide some food for Love. That doesn't mean she appreciates it any more now as she had back then. If anything, it irritates her more now that it's a voluntary act than one either compelled by or acted on by Love themself.

So when Rey catches the mass text of some guy inviting anyone and everyone to her establishment, she is less than pleased.

Having spent more time at the Speakeasy since the city got separated into four different islands, it helps that Rey was already there by the time some genius decides to shoot that message to the whole city.

She does not approach his table looking like a date, but rather as someone who's trying really, really hard to keep her anger in check. After all, she's trying to get the navigation gear from Sorrow, not shit from Rage.

"What do you think you're doing here?" Rey asks, as calm as someone standing on a bomb ready to go off if she so much as breathed wrong would be.

[What can he say? Kain just needed a really good venue for this, and somewhere where he and his date might comfortably relax and drink seemed perfect. Of course, it's a bit awkward still for him, awaiting to see if anyone will show up. So at first he gets his hopes up when someone approaches... at first. Her manner and mood don't escape him, though.]

[Hmmm... Is he inspiring more annoyance than love? Do they even have an Annoyance God? Should they?]

I'm attempting to fulfill my responsibilities, by... [Wow this all seems so damned weird when he actually says it, all in that heavy serious tone of his.] ...by going on a romantic date.

[Ugh, it's just what Rey expected, with the lighting and rose and...

[If there was a god that inspired annoyance, it would be Love, but Rage probably has the cake on that one.

[She just huffs, before making herself a drink to start chugging.]

Whatever, do your thing. Just don't start fucking on the tables or anywhere near here if it gets to that part. It might be slow right now but that's not what we're here for.

[Nice.]

[Now Kain turns a nice shade of red as he contemplates that possibility. He hadn't even considered it going quite that far, but what if it does? What if someone takes him up on this whole offer and things really do progress that way? He's never had much success with this sort of thing, after all. Who knows what might happen.]

All I'm after is a simple date, at this point. Besides, I have enough of a sense of restraint not to cause a scene like that.

Well, you'll have to excuse my asking, then. "Restraint" is not the strongest suit of a lot of people here.

[Like Rey is one to talk. At least she can say she has control over her own thoughts and emotions this time, so that's a plus. Less people to use the gods as an excuse for being idiots, they have only themselves to blame.]

I had no idea they got like that. I've probably not visited this place nearly enough, though.

[He may have to start, though. Especially under more... normal circumstances. He knows he's a bit out of his element with this entire plan of his.]

I'm stuck trying to cause the feeling of love in others, so this seemed like the best way to achieve that.
