As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.
Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.
And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.
Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
MOVING RIGHT ALONG
Goddamn millennials always glued to their goddamn phonesNo like honestly Peter's on his phone too, probably texting someone. Who even knows, whatever he's doing though, he's instantly distracted from it by a guy in a... what is that, a spacesuit? Armor? You don't see that every day, but then what Peter had been wearing when he'd first showed up was probably a whole lot weirder, so he really can't judge.Just standing around and staring at Captain Spacesuit over here was probably super rude though, so he's going to maybe stop doing that and offer to help this guy out.
"Hey, man. You need help finding somewhere?"
no subject
Right, Keith, not everyone is out to attack you.
He looks up from the phone, then approaches Peter, showing him the map on it.
“I’m looking for the temples, the guard, the clinic, and the fire brigade. I just arrived, I’d like to know where they are for when I need them,” he explains.
no subject
"Mmkay, let's see what I can do... Okay, first off, I hope you don't get sea sick, because a lot of this stuff is on different islands. Like all the temples, there's a couple on each island. Uh, the clinic is on this island, we're actually not far from it right now, and one of the temples is pretty close too. I know the guard like, headquarters I guess, it's up on the northernmost island. Each of the other islands has a watch tower, not sure if they're connected to the guard, but they're kinda fun to climb on. Fire brigade though, I'm actually not sure about that one. I haven't been here too long myself, so I'm still kinda finding my way around too."
no subject
"The ... 'newbie guide' said something about one. I thought I'd check it out," He says, regarding the fire brigade. It wasn't really specific, but the name is pretty self-explanatory from the sounds of it. "How long have you been here?"
no subject
Boring, it's been super boring. Mostly because there's no internet, but also because there aren't enough buildings to swing around on.
...No, it's really just the internet thing.
no subject
Hard to prepare when you don't even know what you're up against, and the newbie guide only covers so much.
It helps that he's already gotten used to no internet.

"Oh, jeez. Um, not a lot that I've gotten too involved in. People have been getting ready for some big boat trip to find the Door, which is apparently how we're supposed to be able to leave, I guess? Uh, this cop dude I talked to said that he heard that the Door is actually some kinda Cthulhu monster, so I dunno, maybe that means we'll have to deal with Eldritch abominations at some point? Anyway, the gods or whatever have been helping out with all that stuff, so I guess the month was pretty quiet? I don't really know what counts as 'normal' around here yet, though."
no subject
"Got it," Keith says with a nod before pausing and looking at Peter again. "... are there a lot of kids here?"
no subject
"Kids, uh. I mean, nobody super young? Like, I haven't run into any five year olds, and I really hope nobody that young ends up here. There's a few teenagers running around, though."
no subject
Ever.
He nods at the confirmation of teenagers and not many kids.
"How old are you?" Peter looks young, but he could just be runty. Keith was runty for his age for a long time.
no subject
He also kind of wishes that he didn't perpetually look like he was twelve, maybe then he could avoid the age questions. Honestly though, the fact that he tends to wear pretty loose fitting clothes isn't doing him any favors in that department, it probably makes him look way scrawnier than he actually is.
"Seventeen. Why?"
He doesn't sound annoyed about being asked his age, at least.
