As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.
Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.
And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.
Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
the colosseum
They're different this time, and Carolina has already lost one knife to them. Considering it is a leftover from her own arrival, she's not going to cry over it, but she keeps her own weapons holstered. No need to lose though.
Whether he needs help is debatable. He's making enough noise to attract her attention. They don't seem overly intelligent, charging as they will with no real thought to it. It's her own foot that kicks out, sending one flying.]
They're not big on the whole listening thing.
no subject
[He says as he sends the third into a colosseum wall with a wiry spin. Only after both his feet have once more touched earth and he breathes a cool sigh of relief does he turn on Carolina herself. Eyes aglow, he rushes her even faster than the rust monsters had, only to swoon upon reaching her.]
But fear not! I would never ignore your sonorous voice!
no subject
What she doesn't expect is that.
It's a look that she shoots his way, one that could kill on the spot, as she steps back and to the side. Okay. Maybe she should have left him to the creatures...]
Right. I don't think so, buddy.
no subject
Ah~ [He croons as he twirls to face her again.] And so graceful too! Pardon my rudeness! I was so blinded by the beauty of your stunning kick, like an elegant dancer's, that I forgot to introduce myself!
[First, he straightens out, dusts himself off. Then, he bows - a soft motion of polite nobility.]
Sanji, first rate cook of the sea, at your service.
no subject
I'd suggest getting over your blindness quickly, or you're going to end up some monster's lunch.
[It is a slightly quizzical look, as she can't say that she would have pegged him as a cook, of any rate, or of any place. Then again, she knows that saying something doesn't make it so. Or looks are deceiving. She's not sure where she would put her money.]
Carolina, and you might want to watch it. This area is a hot zone for these things.
no subject
[He couldn't ogle the ladies if he was! A cruel fate indeed.]
Not one of these shitty fleas will touch your fair skin as long as I'm here, Miss Carolina!
no subject
They wouldn't anyway. I'm a trained soldier. Killing is what I do.
[Although she just doesn't kill without thinking, and even tries not to kill when she doesn't have to. She will defend herself, but she doesn't just blindly follow orders anymore.
Yet she is questioning that at the moment.]
I take it you've just arrived, or did you decide to go take on some creatures for shits and giggles?
no subject
A femme fatale! I should have known, the way you stopped my heart the moment our eyes met! I may have just arrived, it's true, but I feel as if I've been searching for you my whole life! That cold stare only fuels my fire!
[Speaking of which... He still hasn't found his lighter. Shit, with the beautiful soldier's arrival, he'd forgotten all about it.]
no subject
She gives him a sideways look. A part of her wonders if he's been hit on the head or suffered some injury on arrival, but another part of her thinks that nope, this is him. That cold stare might end up being the last thing that he sees if he keeps that up.
Thankfully he's staying out of her personal space.]
I suggest you keep searching and find something else to fuel your fire. There some reason you're sticking around here, or you just like to bother any female that crosses your path?
no subject
[She tells him to get the fuck away from her, and he acts like she's entrusted him with conquering a country in her name. He twirls happily over to where he'd dropped his lighter.]
Those ugly blood-suckers made me drop my precious lighter. I was about to snatch it up, but your stunning figure distracted me from my meager task. As a man, I could never ignore a lady!
no subject
A lighter.
She's one of her own, although it's not hers. No, it had belonged to someone important to her, someone that she had lost. Her own fault.
An eye roll though.]
Idiocy like that is going to get you hurt around the Coliseum area.
no subject
[He crouches and picks up the fallen lighter, dusting it off as he inspects the golden exterior. Still crouching, he turns to show it to her with a triumphant smile.]
Found it!
no subject
Once, he might have been canon fodder in her attempt to find anyone else that she knows, but she has changed.]
Then I suggest you get moving, before anything else comes after you. Further away you get, the less likely the monsters are to bother you.
[And, because she is making an effort to be helpful.]
Anyone told you about this place?
[Or did they all get annoyed and leave him be...]
no subject
Sanji stands again, dusting off his dark pants before dropping his lighter into his pocket. He turns to offer the woman a passive but knowing tilt of his head.]
And what about you, Miss Carolina? You don't seem worried about yourself at all. Is this your home turf then?
no subject
[No miss. At all. Ever.
As for home turf... She is a soldier, that much is true. Has trained day and night to be the best, or she had, once upon a time.
In a way, it is though. Since the islands formed out of the desert, their residence has been on the island with the monsters. Those that aren't destroyed here, roam about.]
I can handle most things this place has.
no subject
I knew it! Beautiful, graceful, and powerful! Truly a diamond among glittering jewels!
Then, Miss Carolina! [Just Carolina? What's just Carolina?] If you must insist on not being escorted, please escort me!
no subject
She's done.
With a glance to make certain that there are no more creatures in the immediate area, Carolina glances back to him for a second.]
Which direction are you heading in?
[Because she is going to go the opposite.]
no subject
[So. Excited.
Also oblivious.]
no subject
You do realize you can't sail away from these islands, right, and just return to where you were?
[And, not really exactly harbours here either... They've come a way since the islands first appearance, although those with magical abilities that can move them or change their shapes so they can fly or swim have it easier. Rest of them just have to walk and find a boat.]
no subject
...Why not?
no subject
The ships here are basic, at best, and where exactly are you going to go? This used to be a desert, until one day the desert changed in to these islands.
no subject
Whatever it used to be, it's sea now. As long as the boat will hold together, I don't care how basic it is. As tempting as it is to honeymoon on this mysterious, little island, I have somewhere I need to be.
no subject
You do realize you're not in the same place you were before arriving here- the same planet? Maybe not even the same reality or plane of existence. Whatever you want to call it.
no subject
This isn't the Grand Line. It's not on one of the four other oceans either.
[It's not a question, but he's searching for clarification in her expression anyway.]
no subject
[There are five oceans on earth, but she's not familiar with the Grand Line.]
I'm from a place where we travel through space to other planets.
