Intro Log: Please Remove Metal From Luggage

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ She was actually trying to avoid making explicit mention of his robo status, but... As long as no one's around, it's kind of fun. Feels like a cool little secret. ]

Oh, that's neat. I can see how that'd help. Kind of like, I'unno, people who get real good at hackysack. You'd probably be good at it to start, in that case.

[He doesn't mind talking about it when it's not a risk to do so; he is, after all, not ashamed of being an android or anything and it's honestly a lot of processing power to keep up this whole story for so long. It's kind of a relief to be able to just be honest when he wants to be.]

I've never tried hackysack.

[But he knows what it is, of course, and it seems like it might be... Maybe fun? Kind of like his coin tricks, and not only that but it would be a way to calibrate more than just his hands.]

However, they don't seem complex to make, even with limited resources.

[So now he's really considering trying to make a hackysack. This is your doing, Rose.]

[ Okay, but- Can she still feel like she's in on some cool secret? She has to have something. ]

We should make one. I'd like to see what kind of skill you got. It wouldn't hurt me to brush up on my reflexes, too.

I'm a little rusty.

[ She is more than happy to be responsible for this. ]

[He won't ruin her fun if she wants to feel that way. Besides, she is still in on a cool secret; hardly anyone knows what Connor is, after all.]

I'll see if I can find suitable supplies to make one.

[While out exploring and all that. Even with all the Guard patrolling and such he has a lot of time, considering he doesn't have to sleep.

He's quiet a moment before realizing--]

It will be my first time playing any sport, not just hackysack.

I can help, of course. We'll probably need to make more than one since they wear out.

[ -Oh, that's. Interesting. She thinks to ask if they aren't, like, programmed to do that? Or if it was just a... he never had the opportunity to or. What. It feels like that might be a tricky sort of thing though so instead: ]

Hey, cool. We can definitely try out more. I'm a big fan of tennis, myself. Maybe we can find a sport you like too.

[Yeah, more than one sounds like a plan, and it's something to actually do besides his Guard patrol. So he's all for it, and brightens a little more at the idea of trying other sports as well.]

I'd like that. Although I understand that sports are considered enjoyable both to watch and partake in, it would be nice to learn why.

[Firsthand, he means. Also he's both very active and likes learning, so trying out different sports seems like a great way to channel both things into one.]

Heck yeah. For me, it's the competition. I can get a little intense, actually, so I gotta' watch it but... Some people just like the community of it, of supporting a team whether win or lose. There's lots of reasons!

[ She realizes in some ways, he reminds Rose a lot of herself when she'd first started living as a human. Everything was so new and exciting; while she'd known about humans, it was another thing entirely to be one (or at least pretend to be) and all that meant.

There was nothing like living all those experiences she'd only read or heard about firsthand. So she gets it. And she wants to help any way she can. ]
