As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.
Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.
And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.
Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

My original home. When I was a kid.
[ It sounds kind of pathetic when she puts it like that, doesn't it? Three centuries later and she's still upset about what happened then. ]
no subject
[Her shoulders slump, almost disappointed. That's... sort of better, but also not really. Rey would rather have a face to the action so that she can smash it against a wall, not this. Not something that can't really be helped.]
Did they do it on purpose? They weren't just playing "Uncle" with you? [Because she has seen that happen before in watersides. Bastards.]
no subject
Considering he told me it should have been me and not my mom, yeah. Pretty sure my dad was serious.
no subject
[This is going to be one of those situations, isn't it? Goddammit.]
Have felt the same way about myself many times. Still, he's full of shit.
[Pause.] Um. Sorry about that hydrophobia thing. Drowning is a shit way to go.
[Rey would know.]
no subject
Yeah, you're not the first one to say that. [ Does that mean she believes it? Mm. Doubtful. ]
Nah, it's alright. I mean... It was a long time ago. Just kind of sucks I can't enjoy beach paradise while we got it.
no subject
To be fair, this isn't much of a "beach paradise" anyway, so you're not missing much.
no subject
Yeah, it's... I mean, it's better than the cave but still kind of gloomy.
I was hoping for blue skies and sunshine. Maybe tundra planet will be better to me.
no subject
Yes, well. If people wanted clear skies and sunshine, they should've appreciated the last planet more.
[She raises a curious brow.] Tundra? You mean the ice planet? Not many seemed too jazzed for that one.
no subject
Ugh, desert planet was the worst. Never again.
[ Sorry, Rey, she was not a fan. ]
Yeah, the ice planet- I mean, it might be boring but like... I'm impervious to cold so it'll be good for me. Won't be overheating every day or, like, scared out of my mind everywhere I go.
no subject
[One thing she can say she's grateful for, it's the days and nights of these islands. It's better than nothing... Literally.]
Might not be so boring with those embassies, but... doubt most people would appreciate the weather conditions.
Doesn't bother me any. Don't feel cold all that much, either. And Tranquility promised that people wouldn't freeze to death if we ever get there. Hope one of them mentions that next time if there's a vote.
[Because Rey has seen enough jungles to hate them even more.]
no subject
[ It's not that she dislikes the prospect of a jungle. Actually, another her across the multiverse enjoyed the equivalent of Jurassic Park when it showed up in one of these pocket dimensions. She'd probably get a pretty big kick out of it all. Still. ]
As long as the people that still matter are there though, I don't care where we go.
no subject
The people that still matter, huh? That sounds subjective.
no subject
[ She's not really so cold that she doesn't care about the general populace, honestly, but... ]
There are a few people I don't know I'd be okay with losing, mostly. I know it's kind of... out of my control but still. It'd suck to lose you. Or Alphys. I'd even miss Carlisle grumping at me or Atem's texts.
no subject
Ah, yeah. Those would suck.
[To say the least. Rey doesn't know what she'd do if Nick is ever taken away.]
Didn't really occur to me what might happen if I'm ever... just gone.
no subject
[ Rose realizes she never asked Rey much about back home. While she's gathered bits and pieces, it just seems to be something best left alone in a lot of cases. The blond doesn't mind talking about home herself but it's definitely not the easiest subject in the world to broach. ]
no subject
No, not really. Things are pretty fucking shitty in my world. [She pauses, reluctant to continue.] Got a rebar through my chest by a crazy synthetic bitch and stabbed by someone I think I have feelings for. The latter had her reasons.
[And Rey still has the scars.]
no subject
[ Somehow, that last bit sound familiar.
Kind of funny, in a cosmic way. For Rose, vague feelings had come after the stabbing and that... says a lot about her that she doesn't want to think about. ]
I got shotgun blast in the chest and was bleeding out before I woke up here. I totally deserved it, if I'm being honest. Thanks to my condition before I had... not been kind to the woman that shot me. [ A beat. ] She's here, actually. Jo. Doesn't remember any of it though and I've avoided her because.
no subject
Ah, that's... awkward.
[Rey pretty much specializes in awkward relationships.]
Some people have come here claiming to know a version of me from another world. Don't suppose that's the case with her, is it?
no subject
[ That's something they have in common. ]
I think it probably is. She has no recollection of Haven, just her homeworld before Hadriel. I must've met a different her. Not that like that doesn't happen in these places. We cycled through like five versions of one dude I was friends with when I first arrived.
no subject
[Rey hums in thought for a moment. Many of the things that Rose talks about rings familiar.
[And then it hits her, between everything Rose has talked about down to multiple versions of the same people showing up. Goddammit, of fucking course...]
You knew a guy named Newt, didn't you? Talked about a town not much different than here, or what you've been describing.
no subject
[ And she probably doesn't have to say how difficult it's been to know a man that looks exactly like him but without his memories, without their friendship. ]
no subject
[Did Carlisle ever feel this way about her? Or Muscovy, when he realized that Rey wasn't the "mother" that he had grown so attached to on that spaceship? There were others who seemed to know that version of herself, but none she felt more guilty for not being able to know the same way as her other self was the kid.]
Guess it sucks, being one of the people who do... forget it.
no subject
It's hard, I guess. This person shared all these experiences with you and has memories you don't; it's a lot... pressure? Expectation? For it to go the same, maybe.
But it never does. It's kind of like the question of if you met someone earlier or later in life, would you have the same relationship? Probably not.
