Intro Log: Please Remove Metal From Luggage

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

"What the fuck," he breathes out, pretending to be offended by this. "I don't even get points for being a really damn good kisser? Come on, honey, I need a little ego boost."

Because he's very much lacking in that department, obviously.

She nods. "Yeah, the kissing is pretty good." That's what he wanted to hear, right? She pretends to think about all this some more. "Oh! You know what I remembered?"

Cashmere turns to face him, leaning in so she can lower her voice a little. "You are really, really, good at -" a pause while she grins at him - "finding undented cans in the shops."

"Now you're just breaking my heart," he teases her back a little. "That's really my claim to fame? Shit. I gotta fix that."

Since she's facing him, it's the perfect opportunity to tug her just a little closer, cradling her cheek in his hand as he smiles and leans in to kiss her.

Cashmere closes the rest of the distance, kissing him instead of continuing to tease him (though she'll be back to that later). It's moments like this, with him, that make everything feel almost normal. It's not an endless dream life, but it sometimes it feel close.

When she breaks the kiss it's to say, "what's really impressive is how happy you make me."

It's the kind of thing that he's still surprised to hear, even if she's generally seemed happy to be around him from the very beginning. He shouldn't be surprised, but he is. It's still an incredible feeling, like he belongs to something really, really good now. Even if nothing around them makes sense or feels permanent, they have this and it's damn good.

A soft smile lingers on his lips as she pulls back. "There's something pretty special about you, too."
