Intro Log: Please Remove Metal From Luggage

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Yep, Leo had to prodded to be a productive citizen at any given time. His apathy about anything beyond his own self-centered needs was astounding.]

Mostly checking the place out in case my dumb brother gets hurt. [He pauses.] Actually, make that when. When he gets hurt. [He loves Seth, but his adoptive brother is also short on common sense.]

( It's a far cry from her own work ethics, which means Kate all but needs to be busy in some way. She never could just sit still, never could be happy without some way of distracting herself from everything that likes to hide in darkness and silence.

She exhales a noise that's almost like a snort of laughter. ) One of them types?

( They're a familiar sight, not just here but back home.

(Says the chick who jumped in front of a dragon...) )

[Looks like she knows exactly the type that he's talking about.]

Definitely. And he doesn't have the advantage of being invulnerable like I am if he does something stupid. He's just squishy flesh and breakable bones.

[Lovely description of someone that Leo actually cares about. You should see how he describes people that he doesn't like.]

( She comes from a world where people grow up with superpowers. She fucking knows, dude. )

Invulnerable?

( That, however? Not a power her world normally has. Even the hardest to kill can be hurt, they simply heal better. Or are simply too hard to catch in the first place. )

Completely. Nothing can harm me.

[There is one contradiction to this statement and that's the small scar running through his left eyebrow. But while Leo can only tell the truth, he can also do it from a certain point of view. Nothing can harm him in this form. The same doesn't apply to his true form.]

( She does see it, and the raise of her brow provides the scepticism at that statement. Maybe not, dude. )

Make you useful in a crisis.

( She would imagine, if it didn't seem like a lie. )

Very much so. I'm just waiting for one to happen here.

[It seemed like the type of place that remained quiet until a bomb got dropped.]

( Oh, that would be incredibly accurate. If anything, the relative smooth sailing of things since the invasion was defeated has left Kate antsy and tense, as though waiting for the other shoe to drop. )

Getting bored?

( She can't blame anyone if they were. When the chaos is over, all that's left is a derelict city with too few people and not enough to do. )

Just a tad. I was always kept busy before I ended up here.

[Perhaps a bit too much so. Leo's idea of a good night's sleep was not getting woken up after three or four hours.]

( Now if that isn't something she relates to hard, though the days of being sleep deprived are long behind her, thankfully. )

Either boring or crazy. Nothing in between.

( Basically, Hadriel is like the world's shittest holiday. Nothing to do and then everything goes wrong and you're just pissed off. )
