Intro Log: Please Remove Metal From Luggage

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

I know a musician like that back home. Figured he had to be the only one.

It's a skill my siblings and I have, but my brother can only do it with the violin and my sister only when she's singing.

[Why is Leo the exception to the one instrument only rule all the rest of the Sunai have? Good question. They've tried to figure it out, but there's no rulebook for an entirely new species.]

Aaah~ [Sanji sighs, heart fluttering.] Just imagining how beautiful her silken voice must be... It makes me mourn being stuck here all the more!

[That gets a rare laugh out of Leo. What sort of weird Lothario is this guy?]

She did have the most beautiful voice. She was the one who came for those we felt like being merciful to.

[She'd just sing them to their deaths like some redheaded, waif-like siren. Leo misses his sister deeply.]

Of course! No man can resist being serenaded by a lovely lady!

[God help any woman who caught this guy's attention is what he was privately thinking to himself.]

[No. That means no. Of the many, many women who have caught his attention, not a single one has ever taken him seriously. You know, because they're smart.]

Ah, of course you do.

[Yeah, Leo's calling bullshit on that one. This guy is clearly delusional. Or crazy. Or delusional and crazy. Yep, definitely that last one. At least he's entertaining as well.]

[He is all these things, yes.

Sanji picks up one of the glasses and sips the water. Because why the hell not?]

What about you? Do you have your very own Juliet to serenade with water glasses?

Ah, no. I'm more of an expert on a lack of relationships than being in one.

[He's led a really sheltered life up until now, alright? Not a lot of time for romance in it.]

It's okay.

[Sanji assures him helpfully as he pats the guy's shoulder.]

We can't all be me.

I think we can all be thankful for that.

[He realizes that he hasn't introduced himself the entire time.]

My name is Leo.

Well! Leo, the musician. I'm Sanji, the chef. [He holds out his hand to shake.] Feel up to keeping everyone here happy enough not to skin each other alive?

Well, that's a worthy challenge, I guess.

[His powers can help out with that, if he so chooses. It's just so often Leo is apathetic towards people.]

[deviledlegs]

[That's okay, Leo. Everyone in the customer service and entertainment industries gets there eventually. Or else they become Sanji. That's the real tragedy.]

Worthy? [Sanji actually laughs at that.] Guess so. Hardest damn job in the whole shitty universe, but hey, it's a living.
