As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.
Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.
And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.
Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

I had asked Kate, at the Clinic, about medical options for non-biological individuals. She said that was more likely to be handled at the Lab, and so I was interested in what is and isn't possible here; I'm concerned by the idea that only part of the population may have viable medical care.
[And he definitely doesn't have a personal investment in this issue either. Definitely not. But he does very much mean the altruistic part as well; he really is worried about whether or not people like Nick and Oscar could get help in an emergency, and if not why no one has made sure they can.]

Well, uh-- that does make sense! I think most of the nonhumans we have here a-are pretty biologically similar to humans? You know with uh, blood and organs and all that. A lot get healed at the clinic anyway with magic, since that bypasses the need for s-specific medical knowledge about the species at hand. The only people who have uhm, asked me for help with fixing stuff have been robots, or uh, more advanced synthetics.
[She pauses for a second, then hastily adds--]
Which uhm, I'm happy to do, of course! Some of the more advanced people can take care of themselves for the most part but uh, some sync with the computer sometimes, or uhm, I've f-fixed Oscar twice now. But I guess it's mostly just me? Not a lot of, uh, robotics specialists come in here. I guess I kind of handle most of the technology here, but uh, n-not really on purpose. It just kind of happened.

I understand. Is there anything in particular that could be done to help the situation? Are the limitations mostly due to a lack of skilled individuals, then, more than having few supplies?
[Or both, which he imagines is the case, at least for any mechanical individual who needs more than just some metal to be able to repair. But he wants to help, even if he's not quite willing to reveal what he is just yet.]
no subject
I think there's a lot of people that, uhm, w-would be willing to help-- supplies are easy, because you can ask the Gods for anything you want, as long as you give them something back. But I think I'm the only one left that knows how to work on robots. There used to be more, uhm, mechanical engineers, but... I don't know any others, right now.
[She might be getting ahead of herself, but she looks up to him in a moment of hope.]
Do you know something?? Or, or a-anything that might be helpful? Even if I just had some help, or, another point of contact or something, that would be great!

At the questions, though, he briefly considers just showing her the ring of light; he thinks he could tell her safely what he is, and not have to worry about her reaction. But he doesn't want to rush into that yet without talking to Maeve a bit more, so he'll hold off for now and instead offers a truthful but vague answer.]
I might, yes. I told you about what's happening in my world, and although it isn't my job or particular skillset to do repairs on damaged androids, I am knowledgeable to an extent. I don't know how well it would carry over to individuals from other worlds, but...
[But she's treating beings from other worlds herself, so it's better than nothing, right? And one thing is for sure--]
Whatever I can do, I'd like to help.
no subject
That would be incredible! Don't worry, I was nervous about working on unknown systems too, but-- if you get stuck, we can work together!
[She seems to kind of recover herself, taking a step back sheepishly and letting go to tuck her hands behind her back.]
I mean, it, just... t-thank you. Really.
no subject
So he offers an awkward half-smile in response, the expression genuine if unpracticed, and after she lets go and steps back he unconsciously mirrors her posture.]
There's no need to thank me. I look forward to working with you.
no subject
Me too! Working together, and uh, a-all that. Feel free to come by anytime, I mean, I'm here m-most of the time no matter what just because it's kind of hard to get back to my house nowadays with the city being split so I'll probably just be here and! Everything!
[Did she breathe through any of that? Probably not.]
no subject
I'll keep that in mind. Please contact me if there is anything you need help with, and I'll see what I can do about determining what supplies would be most useful to acquire.
no subject
Totally! O-Of course. Let me know if I can help, uh, in any way.
[She doesn't know where to start with this, but he seems to. Best she can do is support that for now.]
