Intro Log: Please Remove Metal From Luggage

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Of course. Best not to risk it.

[She tracks its movements, nods appreciatively. She's seen a few people's weapons suffer to these creatures today already. Her sword doesn't, and if it did, she could simply re-summon it, but not everyone is blessed with the power of a great demon to back their blades. Thankfully, or she'd have a lot of enemies here, rather than people who look at her with fear rather than rivalry in mind.]

An odd pair, though, aren't they? They don't look much alike. How did you come across such a set?

[More of those buglike monsters creep at the perimeter; she turns to blast a few of them down with bolts of darkness. A few scamper out of the way with minor cracks in their shells, oozing greenish blood, but one takes a direct hit and stops dead in its tracks. There - conversation made less prone to interruption.]

[A magic user, then. One with some talent. Molly folds his arms, appreciating the display.]

They're a contrasting pair, though yes, it is a bit odd that they differ so much, at least in terms of magical ability. As for why one glows while the other doesn't, though, that is because I've only activated one so far. They are both activated by my blood.

[That much is hard to hide, considering he's sure he's been seen slicing a thin line across his neck to activate them, and is sure he'll be seen doing so again soon enough.]

As for how I came across them...

[He flashes a grin.]

My mother always told me never to give away a story for free.

Your mother sounds like a smart woman.

[Magic swords activated through blood sacrifice? Sounds like a good time. Or perhaps it's his blood itself that holds such power. Something from his ancestry would be the obvious guess, but she knows well enough that such abilities can be obtained through more than just heritage.]

I'll show you to what these people call a 'speakeasy', then. Come have a drink. I might even be convinced to share a few tales of my own.
