What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

I think I'm good. Got a ferryman or teleportation now just in case.

How's Wolfie, by the way? I felt awful that I left him home that day.

Oh! He's doing fine. Ravine has been going in to feed them, and I've been getting back at least once a week to spend a few days there. I just can't really get in, uh, e-every day anymore.

[Waves are hard for one small weak lizard.]

I thought about, uh, bringing them over to the Lab, but Newt keeps taking apart monsters, so it, uh, probably isn't a good idea.

Well, I can try to drop in more often if it helps. Don't want to have to make Ravine work more than she needs to.

[ Also- ]

Yeah, no. Last thing we need is Wolfie eating something he shouldn't.

[She chuckles nervously.]

I was kind of more worried about, uhm, s-something eating Wolfie...

I hope he's getting out enough. Our house isn't super small, but still. I'm sure he liked it more when the city wasn't separated. Especially in that time where all the monsters were finally gone.

Please, my wolf can take down just about anything.

[ But, like, knock on wood because if anything actually happened to him she'd lose her mind. ]

Yeah, he had tons of room to roam. Maybe if we get ice planet next he'll get to feel a bit more at home again too.

[That's why she's worried!!! Take no chances! No Wolfie left behind!]

Ohmygod I don't know what I'll do if we go to the ice planet. I won't be able to g-go outside ever again.

[Even trying to get out to Snowdin was like, impossible for more than a day. Even then, there was so little space to the town itself it was easy to get inside quickly.

Maybe she'll have to bite the bullet and move into the Lab just, forever.]

Though I know it'd make a lot of people happy. And at least I could walk home at night. Kind of.

It'd make me... Okay, well, not happy. But it'd be better than desert or ocean planet, at least.

[ The eternal cold would no doubt make her think too much of home. She wouldn't mind the jungle, really, but jungles are generally trouble. That just has bad news slapped all over it, really. ]

Yeah, there's definitely pros and cons to it. I guess we'll see next time we're polled, huh?

[She kind of drags her hands down her face a bit.]

I mean, okay, that's. That's one g-good thing.

[Honestly, Alphys has been trying not to dwell on it, even if it does happen.]

Maybe I can get Hope to install a heat lamp in here. Or I can get the parts to make one before we move. If we're... warned before we move.

They'll probably do a poll like last time, I imagine.

They seem to like that.

[She nods.]

I mean, yeah, but they don't really say when it's going to h-happen. It just does. And then it's super disorienting.

I don't know, I kind of like it. Keeps things exciting.

[ Sure, Rose. That's the word for it. ]

Except for when the city splits in half and there were monsters everywhere. That time sucked.

Ohmygosh y-yeah. I really hope that doesn't happen again.

[She chuckles, suddenly all too aware of how much has really gone wrong here over the years.]

Maybe we can, uhm, go a year without a catastrophe this time? That'd be nice. Just the... normal amount of c-city weirdness, huh?
