Intro Log: Puddle Jumpers

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Fresh meat, lots of rain and angry ogres

If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.

That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.

Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.

Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!

Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

The Clinic is a long standing institution in Hadriel and not too far from the Colosseum, on the western island. Quickly constructed and somewhat bland signs point the way to the building, marking it as the place to come and be treated for whatever injuries you sustained from this month's chaos.

Though currently adequately staffed, the nature of the city - now more than ever with the city divided among four islands and with so many people out at sea on explorations - means that the organisation will never turn away a pair of helping hands, whether you're well acquainted with medicine or just want to learn. Or even if you just feel like finding them equipment from the shops. There's enough disasters in the city in any given month to warrant the extra supplies - even more so looking at this month's monstrous offerings. Hope you didn't get too beat up, but if you did, that's what this place is here for!

Whatever the case may be here, you're welcome to come talk to people. Just don't touch anything without washing your hands first.

Oh! Did you sail / teleport / swim to another island first? Don't worry, the clinic has you covered there too. Though there are no fixed bases on the other islands (yet), staff are available to help if need be. Just specify where you are.

Those who find themselves regularly turning up to the main building - whether staff or otherwise - might notice the absence of one bright pink head of hair. They might have been noticing it for the past couple of weeks, ever since the population was all returned to one place. Maybe it's just the storm.

Maybe not.

West Island | OTA | Will Match Format

[When construction was undertaken to rebuild the clinic after the Null's failed attempt at invasion, there were limited materials at their disposal. When the building was split in half as a result of the city's most recent move--effectively separating it from the Guard's main base of operations--it made one side of the structure significantly weaker and more susceptible to damage in the event of extreme weather.

The building cannot withstand prolonged rainfall and wind without sustaining water damage. This torrential downpour and the howling gale that accompanies it are leaving their indelible mark. Water drips from parts of the ceiling under which pans and pails have been strategically laid. Hairline cracks that run along the corners of each room where the walls meet the floor have been plugged with whatever old fabric could be spared.

In the reception room, Oscar may be found sweeping water back outside through the entryway. He may also be seen standing patiently by the door, ready to offer assistance to those who might need it. Should anyone come in from the storm, be it a member of the clinic's staff or one of the townspeople, Oscar will be glad to lend them a small towel with which they can dry off before showing them to a seat away from the draught that whistles through the gap at the bottom of the clinic's front doors.]
