Intro Log: Puddle Jumpers

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Fresh meat, lots of rain and angry ogres

If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.

That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.

Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.

Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!

Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Yes. You've...mentioned that before. [ Maybe one day he'll ask about it. But today is not that day because Starscream is a jerk. Though his eyebrows raise a little at her words. Not wrong but he doubts he would be brought here only to starve...

Or maybe that's exactly why he was brought? Still he look back up at the sky, sighing as his wings droop a little. ]

Not high enough. I would fly right off this planet but something is preventing me. Almost as it there is a force field of sorts. As if there weren't enough annoyances to deal with. [ He is totally peeved and it shows as he balls one hand into a fist. ]

[oldtonew]

[ Kettara looks him up and down, assessing. He's a rude thing, but potentially a useful source of information. She ought to use that. ]

And this energon. It's underground?

[ She assumes. Otherwise it wouldn't be such a task to find, right? ]

[traitory]

[ He gives her a momentary surprised look before his expression goes back to its normal scowl. He wonders how she got it in one shot but he brings a clawed hand to his chin as he eyes the surrounding area. ]

Yes...that's correct. Most of the energon would have been here for thousands of years, so naturally the landscape would have shifted and buried it. But that is...on a normal planet.

[ He's not entirely sure but this place hardly seems normal, especially after what he's read. ]

I doubt I will come by it through normal means. [ Just another pain he's going to have to go through, right? Figures. ]

[oldtonew]

[ Kettara crosses her arms over her chest. ]

It might be buried, but the earth remembers. I know how to ask.

[ She eyes him. ]

I want something. If I help you, you're going to help me.

[traitory]

You want something from me? [ He barks out a laugh as he eyes her, arms crossing over his chest. ]

Let's not get too hasty in negotiations, shall we? After all I don't have any energon quite yet. I won't agree to anything until I see some...results.

[ Like he would just readily agree to something with some random person he's met here. Starscream needs it though, energon, and while it might be available in the stores here he would like to have a sufficient stockpile of it in case of emergencies. ]

[oldtonew]

[ Results? All right.

Kettara smiles at him. Then she steps forward, lifting her foot and then bringing it down hard. The elements don't talk to her in this place, but she can feel them still. Spirit of Earth, aid me now. And, privately, she wants to knock him down a peg. The Spirit of Earth would have liked that, back home. It rarely has time for arrogance in anything but itself.

The elemental power whips through the earth, cracking out and then shooting a spike of stone and dirt up under Starscream. Unless he moves, he's probably going to get smacked.

Beneath that, a crevasse is reveled. ]

Results.

[ She grins. ]

Like you wanted.

[traitory]

[ Um. Excuse you?! Starscream will let out a totally cowardly yelp as he stumbles away from the spike of earth that shoots up rather quickly beneath his feet. It's almost enough to cause him to fall over, but he still looks ungraceful as his lanky frame tries to regain its balance. He'll growl back at Kettara, hands balling into fists. ]

Watch what your doing! [ But seeing the crevasse is a strangely welcomed sight. After all energon mines were so plentiful back on Earth. ]

Well it's good to know that you can make holes in the ground. But there's still no energon in my hands. Those are rather poor results. [ He'll peer down at the crevasse before looking back at Kettara with a smirk. He'll motion with a hand towards it. ]

After you.

[oldtonew]

[ Kettara doesn't giggle, though a childish part of her wants to. She made him jump! He's so much bigger than her, likely stronger as well, and yet she made him jump. Besides, she has a duty to represent the Earthen Ring and that means conducting herself with honor and dignity. Not playing jokes on strangers.

Even if she really, really wants to. ]

Could you have done it?

[ It's asked with genuine curiosity. Kettara knows almost nothing about what he can do. Still, she hops down into the hole in the ground without hesitation when prompted. She has no idea whether it contains this energon or not, but it's worth a try. And the earth will likely treat her kinder than it will Starscream. ]

[traitory]

[ He will give a snort, rolling his eyes, as he waves a hand in a flippant gesture. ]

Of course I could have. We primarily looked for energon in mines. It would do no good if I couldn't make one, now would it?

[ He says that a bit testily as he gives pause by the edge of the hole. Starscream and caves...do not mix, he doesn't have very good memories of it. Considering Megatron almost off'd him in one, but he's not going to be shown up by a complete stranger either. He'll follow her in shortly afterward, his size doing nothing to help him at the moment. ]

Scavenging underground for scraps of energon... [ this totally reminds him of times best left forgotten if he's being honest with himself. Safe to say he'll just be grumbling to himself as he looks around for any signs of energon. ]

[oldtonew]

But you didn't.

[ Truthfully, she's curious how he would manage such a thing. It shouldn't be difficult for a creature of his size, but what form would that power take? There are many questions. Kettara supposes she'll see at least a few of them answered. ]

Is there a process, to find this energon more quickly?

[traitory]

[ He just gives her a sharp look before letting out a huff. ]

Of course there is. You don't think we would just be walking around planets and digging holes in the ground to find it, did you?

[ Well he technically was doing that on Earth but with more sophisticated equipment. There's some sarcasm as he says that last part. ] But there is a distinct lack of Cybertronian technology on this planet.

[oldtonew]

I don't know, [ Kettara says simply, kneeling down to run her hands through the dirt. She can't identify any of the minerals there, beyond a few specks of granite, and the Earth doesn't speak to her. She lets the dirt fall through her fingers. ] Maybe you need to dig deeper. Or maybe there's nothing. It's hard to tell in this place.

[traitory]

[ He just growls in annoyance. This was a big waste of time. ]

Dig deeper? Oh yes that's just so easy when you have no tools to do exactly what you propose. I am not about to get my hands dirty for something I don't even know will yield results.

[ But perhaps these gods will be ever so kind and have a stock of energon for him in the store. ]

[oldtonew]

[ Kettara frowns at him. ]

Then how else will you eat?

[traitory]

[ Ugh how else indeed. He'll grumble under his breath as he sighs, wings drooping slightly. ]

Perhaps I will seek out these so called gods. Unless they haven't already provided me with energon already. I've heard various...humans tell me that the store here has food items stocked.

[ So he has little choice but to make his way towards that. As much as he hates to do so. Starscream isn't about to starve to death so whatever means are necessary he'll get what he needs to survive. ]

[oldtonew]

[ Kettara shrugs, though she's watching him with interest. She's never met a creature like him before. ]

Is that truly all that you can consume?

[traitory]

[ He actually looks...unsure. He's never tried to eat anything else?! ]

Why would I want to eat anything else? [ And ruin his figure? No but he's never actually tried so he doesn't really know. ]


I've never known any others to eat anything but energon.

[oldtonew]

It seems like something worth knowing, [ Kettara points out. She comes closer, inhaling deeply and trying to get a handle on what, exactly, he smells like. Not quite a golem, no. ] Were you created by someone?
