Intro Log: Puddle Jumpers

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Fresh meat, lots of rain and angry ogres

If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.

That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.

Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.

Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!

Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Ugh you humans are so nosy. Starscream will let out a growl as he turns to look back at Jane. ]

If you must know it is an energy source, similar to you humans and your food. But I'd steer clear of it if I were you. It is known to be quite the...detriment towards a humans well being.

[ He may or may not know that first hand. ]

[yes. yes, she is. she manages to keep from jumping a mile when he growls at her, but it's a near thing]

Oh. I've never heard of it before, so I don't really know if we have any. I've heard that Hope--one of the fake gods--can make arrangements for special food, though. You might ask him? [and that last part sounds ominous] Okay, I'll stay away.

[she summons what little courage she has]

I'm Alice Ayres. Who're you?

Of course. It's not something humans would know anything about. [ So of course you're all clueless. ]

Is there some sort of...deal that needs to be made with this, Hope? [ He hates cutting deals when he actually has to repay the debts attached to them, but he'll do it if he needs to. ]

You may address me as Lord Starscream.

Oh. Of course not. My mistake. [was there a note of sarcasm in her voice? yes. yes, there was]

Mm-hmm. The fake gods don't do anything for free. [at least not so far as she knows]

...Lord Starscream? Really? That sounds like a Bond villain. [don't trashtalk the twelve-feet tall robot, Jane]

[ He just lets out another annoyed growl as he leans down to get a bit closer to Jane. If there's one thing he doesn't like it's when people mock his authority! But he's only being this cocky because she's clearly a defenseless human, good job Starscream. He'll point with one long claw, bringing it dangerously close to Jane in the process, as he gives a sneer. ]

Yes. And you will do well to remember it and address me as such. We wouldn't want anything to happen now, would we?

[ Starscream stop threatening people who are clearly weaker than you. ]

[she doesn't flinch. largely because she finds the idea of somebody, robot or not, going around calling themselves Lord Starscream hilarious. it makes it impossible to take him seriously. lucky for both of them that she hasn't actually started laughing]

Oh, of course not. Trust me, that is one name that I'll remember.

[really, now. it's totally rude]

[ Excuse you, he is very serious and you should take him seriously!! Starscream just grumbles under his breath as he straightens. ]


Good. Now unless you can tell me something of value I'm done wasting my time with this...idle chatter.

[too late. that name is one that's going to stick since who goes around calling themselves Lord anything]

Hey, it wasn't all idle. I gave you a good lead on where to go to get your food.

A good lead? It's only as good as what it leads to, which I am not about to deem worthy or not. If anything it was a decent suggestion, which I will consider.

[ Starscream stop being an ass?! ]

If something comes of it then perhaps you can say it was good. [ But for now he's just going to not trust it. ]

Okay, well, good luck with considering it. 'Cause I don't see many other options unless this place secretly has treasure troves of this food you're looking for. Which I wouldn't bet on.

[she's dealt with worse in the clubs. of course in the clubs, she could always call security]
