If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.
That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.
Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.
Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!
Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

The next moment after that momentous unsheathing of her sword, there's an elven woman at Sansa's side, both of her palms flipped up to cup the fire that dances in her hands. The pouring rain and harsh winds do nothing to weaken the flames that Lup commands, which only just jump higher and brighter with each passing moment, as the elf readies a spell.
But first her attention shifts to the younger woman, Lup's mouth curling into a grin as she dips her chin in greeting.]
Look at you rockin' that sword. Super hot.

I am not carrying it for that purpose! (But she can't help smiling - ever so slightly. She is relieved to see the other woman and she hurries across the muddy ground to her side.)
Is that magic?
no subject
Got it in one, chickadee! Fire magic is cha'girl's speciality!
[She holds out a palm - at a safe distance! - for the girl to feel the heat rolling off of her. Even if it's magic, the fire is real enough, burning bright in her hand, Lup completely safe from it's burn.]
And what about you? Never took you for a sword slinging gal, but I bet you kick ass with it.
no subject
Is there anything you can't do?
(She pushes back some wet auburn strands, glancing down at her Elven sword.)
I'm not, really. I have been learning the sword and the bow since the last world I visited. I fear I don't have my sister's talent.

Sansa's awe just leaves Lup grinning, just sharp enough to flash a hint of her teeth.]
The list is pretty small, but it exists. Just can't go around sharin' it. Can't let folks know I have any weaknesses. Would taint my rep.
[Her eyes slide from the younger woman over to the nearest ogre, some twenty feet away still.]
Just takes a lot of practice. I never had the patience for it. [Or the strength, not in those lanky arms.] But if you ever wanna learn a little magic, I can teach you a spell or two.
no subject
Be careful you don't reveal your weaknesses through your actions. More than your reputation will be on the line.
(The scent of the ogre is nauseating and she lifts her sword, ready to strike.)
How would I learn magic? Don't I need the ability, latent or otherwise?
no subject
You'd be surprised how resilient I am. The undead don't die easy.
[Or, like, ever.]
Nope. Anyone can learn magic, just takes a lot of training. My bro bro and I spent about a hundred years learning an' perfectin' our specializations. But you could bust out a level one spell in a couple of months.
