Intro Log: Puddle Jumpers

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Fresh meat, lots of rain and angry ogres

If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.

That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.

Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.

Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!

Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

No, I suppose not.

[Tyki looks over again at the question. His world? Well, things were very different there.]

We did have a flood or two worth mentioning. [It's kind of a big deal, in his world. He is a Noah, after all.] We had a little more going on than this place. More people. Plenty of cigarettes and good food to go around. [Tyki shakes his head.] But perhaps I'll be thrilled with the variety the city has to offer once I've had time to explore a little more.

First time for everything. [ Not exactly comforting, but here they are. Ephemera takes another drag, tipping his head back. He likes the sound of the rain, at least. It's calming. ] Never been in a flood. What're those like?
such_a_teez: (I miss the Tyki that nicknamed everyone)

I suppose so. [Comfort is nice, if it's comfort that means something. Realism isn't as kind, but it keeps a person alive a lot longer than false comfort.]

Honestly, I don't remember. I was told about it, that I lived through it. I suppose I was too young then to really be expected to hold it in my memories. [Less too young, more a different lifetime.] Supposedly it was biblical in it's death toll. [And literally biblical.]

[ Ephemera snorts. Biblical, yeah. Maybe a flood could qualify. He's seen planet killers that certainly did. ]

Well, fuck. Least you survived.

[ It might not be much of a comfort. Being a survivor isn't, always. ]

Funny thing is, this place might actually be better than back home. Sure, everything wants to kill you, but they're strictly small scale. I could get used to that.
such_a_teez: (But we jumped on any new AU)

Survival is usually a favorable outcome. [But that was lifetimes ago and he's actually died since. Life is a little stranger when you're a bunch of weird genes and an old secret in a mostly human form.]

So far, the weather is worse. As is my financial situation. But it's nice to be rid of some of my responsibilities. [Tyki makes a little laugh, shaking his head at the smaller scale bit.] True. Better against a few than against a world. [With Tyki's luck and perchance for terrible decisions, that might change.]

Usually, [ Ephemera agrees. There are situations that can change that, but he doesn't feel like going there right now. Not when he's enjoying the clarity of the rain and a decent cigarette. ] What, you rich or something?

[ Not that it matters here, one way or another. They're all in the same mess. ]
such_a_teez: (If the vape craze had only hit back then)

[personal profile] such_a_teez 2018-09-20 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Rich? No. But my some of my family members were well off, and I didn't mind being a kept man on an allowance. [When they could catch him to make him stay long enough to get it, that is. Tyki prefers to roam, the traveling life is far more fun than snooty court days and fancy dress. So his income was usually what he earned on odd jobs.

On top of that, he didn't exactly get the time to gather extras. None of them really did. While he keeps a good amount of random items stuffed inside of him, in his wild hammerspace, salable goods rarely find their way into what he carries.]
Still, I'm not sure that any amount of money would be helpful here.

Probably not, [ Ephemera agrees. Firepower, now that would help. Or more freaky magic powers. ] One thing these gods don't seem to care about.
such_a_teez: (Everybody played Tyki)

[Tyki is happy to bring some of those freaky powers. He's not sure just how he'll fare against what most consider to be literal gods, but he'll give it a try if he gets the chance to.] Among many things. Like free will, and the like. [Another long drag finishes the cigarette off, and he looks at it longingly. Maybe he can find some way to grow tobacco here.] Still, if commerce isn't what makes this world go round, far more interesting things can happen.
