If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.
That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.
Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.
Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!
Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
A.
But then Abigail is met with an unpleasant surprise. Who wouldn't give a start when turning around to find an imposing figure towering over them, eyes darkened behind the black lenses of her sunglasses?
At least Abigail's instinct isn't to try and flip her over. That wouldn't have ended well.
Her expression doesn't change even when she is stirred to alertness by the young woman's screaming.
"Do you think you could turn down the volume a notch? I was simply going to compliment your choice of apparel."
no subject
She glances down at her raincoat, then looks back up and shrugs. "I would have preferred a waterproof hunting jacket and pants. This keeps me dry at least. What about you? Are you keeping dry?" She's a little curious about the sunglasses but figures it's best not to ask. It might be a sensitive matter, like Abigail and the scarves she uses to hide her scars.
no subject
Most people would percieve a 6'8" tall black-haired woman as a monster at first, too. Anyone who has seen way too many Asian horror films, for sure.
Despite the weather, there is not a drop of water on her. None on her shades, or soaked onto the fabric of her clothes. These are hardly comforting factors, indicating that she's anything but a normal lady.
"I go where the rain is not," she comments unhelpfully.
no subject
The rain is everywhere and this woman looks as if she has an invisible umbrella overheard. Given the people and events she's seen in Hadriel, that might be the truth. Or some other magic at work.
"Got any tips on staying dry for me?" It couldn't hurt to ask.
no subject
An invisible umbrella would hardly do the trick. Not having a body? That helps.
The question is somewhat adorable. Ravine's brows knit at Abigail, as if the solution should be obvious. "Staying indoors and not venturing outside unless necessary would be a decent place to start."
no subject
"I've got to get food though." It isn't entirely true. She could stay in and depend on Will to find what they need. She feels like she has to make up to him for what she did when she was alone. "And I'll probably need more things as time goes on."
no subject
"I would be surprised that more people have not taken up the habit of hoarding supplies in events such as this, but that is not all there is to it... is there?"
no subject
She hesitates for a moment. "There's always more to things, isn't there?"
no subject
She cants her head a little at Abigail's question.
"Is there? Can it not be anything more simple for a change?"
no subject
It's a valid question in her mind. Even before Hadriel, she knew people who didn't eat traditionally.
"That would be a big change."
Nothing's been simple in her life since the shrike.
"If it did get simple, I might not trust it."
no subject
Indeed it is a big change, but for someone who has seen the very nature of humanity throughout the eons, a reaper can't help but see the more predicable habits. She doesn't even need to be psychic for that.
"Of course. People have always been more oft to make things more difficult for themselves. You are no exception."
no subject
Abigail shrugs "I guess so. I did what I thought would be easiest on me in the past. It ended badly. I know better now." At least, she likes to think she's wiser now. If her father or Hannibal were to arrive, she'd still be tempted to run to them.
