Intro Log: Puddle Jumpers

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Fresh meat, lots of rain and angry ogres

If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.

That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.

Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.

Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!

Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ It takes only a moment for Jake to tug his shield out to show Pratt. It's the real deal. ]

Jake Peralta, I'm a detective with the 99th in Brooklyn.

[ Even mid freak out Jake can't help but be pleased with how freaking cool that sounds to say out loud. Who cares if he's been a detective for years? Still the most awesome perk of the job. Well, besides solving crimes and helping people.

Whatever. ]

And I wouldn't know, I have no idea what Montana looks like.

[ He thinks it's midwesternish? But not corn-midwest. ]

[Don't get too excited, Pratt has no idea where Brooklyn is other than from hearing that Beastie Boys song. He's just gonna nod, he believes you. Also his first name isn't 'Deputy' but he's so used to talking like that he forgot that he can be on a first name basis with people.]

Green. Trees. Deer.

[There you go, you're now an expert on Montana.]

You came mid storm which might be a blessing as there's probably less things running around trying to kill us. You have a sidearm? Because you might need it.

You mean there's usually more?

[ That's so much worse! The big angry things in the Coliseum were bad enough in smaller numbers. The idea of something bigger/worse/MORE was awful and Jake officially hates this place harder than before.

Why can't this be a really hyper-realistic dream? Everything is terrible! ]

They come in droves. Usually when new people show up.

We're all gonna run out of ammo eventually.

Well, that sounds horrible!

[ How does everything the nice kinda grizzled looking deputy says keep getting worse?! Jake groans and looks like he might be freaking out again.

Because he definitely is. ]

[yeah he.. sees that. Having suffered enough breakdowns to last a lifetime he doesn't particularly want to witness someone else having one.]

It's not all bad there's ... uh...

[oh no. Now he has to try and be positive.]

There's no money so everything in the stores is free. Only ran out of food once.

[Okay that's not real reassuring. Try again.]

Plenty of water, you can move into any available house. So at least food and shelter is covered right?

Can I just say that you are really doing an amazing job of selling this place.

[ Sure the place is full of monsters but at least food is generally available and rent is nonexistent. Wait... ]

...Actually I know several people who wouldn't mind living around actual monsters if it meant they didn't have to pay rent.

It's a millennial heaven.

[No student loans, no skyhigh rents, no shitty thinkpieces about how they're killing another industry today. Granted he can't relate to most of that because he lives in Montana, has no student debt and his townhouse is like five-hundred dollars a month. But he understands the concept. And he does hate him some mayo and love avocado toast. ]

Look I'm trying man, I'm not supposed to be the welcoming party.
