Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Fresh meat, lots of rain and angry ogres

If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.

That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.

Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.

Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!

Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Tyki smiles warmly, and gestures up above him to the butterflies that are fluttering and hovering about. One of them separates from the hoard, moving close to Girl so she can get a better look at it. ] This is a Teez. [The butterfly slowly turns mid-air, allowing a good look at the card suit wings and it's colors.]

Do you know what a golem is?

[She lifts a hand towards the butterfly, stopping just short of touching it. There's a childish urge to coax it closer, like she would do with bugs back when she was small. But the bugs in the desert hadn't been so elegant or delicate looking. She's half afraid touching it will cause harm.

There's an admiration in her gaze that doesn't leave the Teez.]

I've never heard of golems. Might be something that doesn't exist where I'm from. That happens a lot 'round here. There's a lotta big differences between worlds.

[The Teez flutters closer and closer, as if it's actually interested in her. It might be, for all Tyki knows. They adore him, worship him, and they're his favorite gift from the Earl. But he's just now getting creative with them and letting them do things on their own. Things besides their intended purpose, at least. He knows that they like eating, they do their job without any visible emotion or complaint, and they seem to actually have real emotion. Of some sort, at least.

Anything else is new news to him. And he can't wait to find out more.

If she stays still any longer, it will happily land on her hand.]

I'm not surprised. I've had more lessons today than my entire school career. [That's not hard to do, considering he never actually went to school.] A golem, at least the kind that I know of, are living creatures that have been created instead of born.

[She holds out a finger, standing stock still in the way she used to when lizards she wanted to catch got too close. A smile crosses her lips with the butterfly flutters close enough that she can feel it. It grows when the butterfly lands.]

We didn't have school where I'm from. Maybe that's why I don't know. [Her voice is barely above a whisper, like she's afraid if she raises her voice the Teez might be fly away. She shifts her gaze to Tyki.] What creates them? Are they magic? Did you?

[The Teez settles down quickly, seeming very content with the situation. There's no sign of fear or nervousness, it just rests. Occasionally opening and closing the wings, as if it wants her to see how pretty of a little monster it is.]

Maybe so. [He laughs softly then.] To be honest, I never went myself. [He's really amused at how quiet she is, how sensitive she is to the needs of a bug. A magic made thing that looks like a bug, but he has a feeling that she'd be careful not to scare off a regular butterfly either.] Magic and science mixed, I think. My family's head is an inventor. He's made other golems too.

[She does find the creature pretty. It's the most content Girl's looked in a long while, watching the Teez.]

Eh. Probably plenty of people here who never did. So, you're in good company. [She huffs a quiet laugh under her breath. Maybe it's just her own people here without any schooling. She'd still say the same regardless.] So he gave these to you? Are all of cute lil' guys like this? 'cause this is pretty shiny. Like a lil' piece of art.

Perhaps the best company. I've personally found that the more formally educated a person is, the more pretentious they tend to be. [She's adorable. He can kill an adult any day, he has no issue with murdering Exorcists in their teens, but children really have an effect on him. He gave silver trophies to Eeze back home, and wouldn't let him work too hard on their jobs. He bends over backwards for Road, who isn't even a child, but just acting like one is enough for Tyki. The twins, bratty as they are, are very well tolerated by him.

He'd probably be a good father, if he wasn't a murderous monster that was bound to ancient biblical prophecies. And a walking example of vices and bad habits. Oh well. He'll happily just play the badly behaved big brother to anyone under a certain age instead.]

He did. Most look like this one, with different symbols. Some have different faces, they're larger. He also made an umbrella that speaks, with a Jack-o-lantern's head. Rather cute, although it nags. [He's just going to leave out the Skulls and Akuma for now, no need to bring up unpleasant things when the conversation is going so nicely.]

[She smirks. She doesn't know much of anyone who's well educated-and she hasn't bothered to ask about the relative schooling of anyone here-but it sounds appropriately snarky. Of course, she shouldn't be smiling. Her people were plenty pretentious, just in a very different way.]

Talkin' umbrellas? That's-[Another quiet laugh. She's never seen a Jack-O-lantern; Halloween was one of the many holidays to die after the world tried to end. But just the image of an umbrella with a face is enough. It's too much like the stories the boys would tell her back when she was still young enough for bedtime tales.] If it could talk, what 'bout these lil' ones? If they start speakin' outta no where, I might have a heart attack. So warn me now, would you?

These tiny ones can't speak. They occasionally make a little noise, but nothing too scary. Promise. [Tyki smiles reassuringly, he doesn't want her to worry about it. And he really is telling the truth. These little Teez have minimal ability or interest in conversation. Far less than Lero, certainly. The Earl's favorite golem never shuts up, so these little ones really are much quieter company.

The ones with skulls faces are an entirely different issue though. They gurgle, a horrific noise they make to try to communicate with Tyki. That might cause a heart attack, depending on the person.] So where are we off to? Anywhere in particular?
