Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for September
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: September 10th-13th
Warnings: Fresh meat, lots of rain and angry ogres

If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.

That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.

Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.

Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!

Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Ruby is such a chipper young girl, especially given that she's so new. That's something Faith can appreciate. ]

I'm... in the process of making friends. [ She laughs brightly. Friendship isn't something Faith feels the need to seek out. In fact, she views it as something that will only get her hurt. ] It's not something I'm too good at!

But everyone is friendly. You'll find yourself making swaths of friends here.

People are real friendly here. I met a guy who helped me look for my dog!! And I didn't even know him!

[Deputy's a hero to Ruby. She sounds so happy when she recalls how nice the people are in this place. ]

Hey, Faith do you like animals?

[THIS IS IMPORTANT.]

[ Ruby seems so genuinely pleased despite her current predicament that Faith finds it endearing. She gives an enthusiastic nod. ]

I love animals. Back home, I only had to walk onto my porch to see all sorts of beautiful creatures roaming my flower fields. It's such a shame there are so few here. [ The young woman mentioned a dog, didn't she? ]

Well then do I have good news for you!

[ A small corgi walks up to Faith and starts barking! ]

Zwei likes making friends. He's still kind a young so he likes to play with people.

[ Ruby hands out Zwei's paw to Faith. The dog doesn't seem to mind her.]

Oh, he's so cute! [ Her face lights up as she gives Zwei's paw a good shake, rubbing her thumb along the top. Most people in Hope County had hunting dogs so the pup's small, stubby stature tickles her heart. She rubs at his ears as her attention turns to Ruby. ]

It's so lucky he arrived with you and you found him before one of those monsters got to him!

You got that right! I don't know what I'd do if he got hurt.

[Ruby lets out a sigh of relief. For a moment Zwei sniffs Faith's hand and then jumps around all happy. ]

Hey, he likes you!

[YOU MADE A NEW FRIEND.]

[ Her heart flutters with warmth. Animals are so much better than people. ]

Do you think so? [ With so few animals within the island city, a sweet pup is nothing more than an absolute joy. Her attention returns to Ruby. ]

I haven't seen dog food in the stores but, if you'd like me to, I'd be willing to keep an eye out for some or even help you make something nutritious for him if you don't know how. [ She doesn't want to make any assumptions. This young woman seems to have some know-how but she wants to assist her in whatever small way she can. ]

I'd like that a lot! He needs to eat healthy food sometimes too.

[That's fine. Ruby doesn't mind having help! A dog can be a handful sometimes. She appreciates Faith's assistance. ]

I think meat should be okay. Meat, grains. Food that's easy to take in!

[She scratches the side of her chin, thinking about what Zwei's going to eat down here.]

I think it'll be easy to make sure he's got enough food. [ She's seen a variety of foods in the stores and Faith is certain that she's seen oats more than once and the meat people get from some of the monsters isn't poisonous. Faith has never cared for any pets in her life but she's grown up around people who did, many who payed careful care to what they put in their animal companions. ]

He seems small enough that he won't need too much and I bet we can make enough of fresh food for him to last at least a week at a time!
