Who: Nagito Komaeda and Yusuke Kitagawa
What: Yusuke flees to Komaeda's house in the storm event
Where: Komaeda's house.

[Well, what terrible luck. The storm outside is so terrible that it is probably dangerous to go outside today. The winds are so strong that Komaeda swore he was nearly blown off his feet when he was outside.

As a result, he ends up back at his place, sitting on the sofa, observing everything that is going outside. The wind is getting more forceful by the minute. Perhaps he should do something about the windows before they smash? That would make it even worse luck. He managed to get some planks outside beforehand. Unless by his good luck, the windows manage to withstand the wind. That is also possible. Who knows?

Either way, it does not look like things will die down anytime soon. Little does he know though that he will not be trapped in his house alone.]

[Yusuke had been hoping a reprieve from the storm had come long enough for him to stretch his legs, get some fresh air, and work on his art. He hadn't expected the onset of the next storm to arrive so rapidly, and he finds himself caught on the beach at the edge of the islands as the winds whip up. The driving rain that soon follows is the icing on the cold and miserable cake, and it's all he can do to make a run for the nearest spire housing, bag of art supplies clutched to his chest to avoid them coming to ruin.

He shelters in the entrance to the building, shivering from the damp cold, and hastily types a message to the one person he thinks should be able to help him out of this predicament.]

Komaeda-san, are you in your apartment right now? I'm outside

[Yusuke? He is outside? In a storm like this? Komaeda stops trying to board up a window and immediately goes to open the door to the building. He opens his mouth in surprise.]

Yusuke-kun, are you all right? Why are you out in a storm like this? Come inside!

[And he tries to grab the other boy's arm to drag him in. He will try to lead him into his apartment.]

[Yusuke's absolutely drenched through and shivering while he waits for a reply, so for Komaeda to come down so quickly catches him by surprise. Yet he won't even protest as Komaeda drags him inside.]

--I'm sorry, I got caught up in the sudden downpour...

I can see that. Ahahahahaha that is some downright terrible luck. My apologies. [Because it's probably his own fault that this storm is happening.]

You're completely soaked though. Wait a sec. [He disappears quickly into his room and comes back with a clean towel and a fresh T-shirt and trousers. Yusuke should have the opportunity to look around while Komaeda is briefly gone, however. Aside from a spear by the entrance and the window in the middle of being boarded up, the apartment looks incredibly clean and tidy. What probably should stand out to Yusuke though is that above the sofa and next to a bookshelf, there is that painting of the dragonfly he gave Komaeda. Komaeda comes back with the towel and clothes.]

Here. [And he points in the direction of the spare room.] There's a bedroom over there for you to dry yourself and change. I need to finish boarding up the window. It looks like the storm's getting worse and I don't know when it's gonna stop so you're free to stay here for a few days if it comes to that.

[Yusuke shivers, taking off his shoes and setting his bag down by the door, trying not to move around too much to avoid dripping everywhere. He's curious about the apartment, though, and can't help but notice the painting, moving closer to get a good look, his expression one of surprise.]

Ah, thank you. [He takes the towel and change of clothes, but he's still distracted by the painting.] Komaeda-san, you kept this...?

Oh.....your painting? Of course! Why wouldn't I? I couldn't not put it up. It was such a wonderful gift and one made from someone with such remarkable talent and....well...[He pauses, looking a bit unsure of what he's saying.]....I just felt it would be wrong not to. [He does not sound very convinced by his answer.]

Even though you disagreed with my intentions behind painting it? Komaeda-san, you should enjoy art because you believe in it. My talent means nothing if the piece doesn't resonate with you... If that's the case, you're simply displaying my own failings as an artist.

[That was why Yusuke had been frustrated with himself, annoyed at his own shortcomings all this time. He didn't want Komaeda to feel obligated to keep it or hang it up, particularly if he doesn't like it.]

I don't see why you'd think something like that. How good you are as an artist has nothing to do with the fact of whether or not I agree with the message of the painting. I told you, I don't amount to much and never.....

[And yet he does not sound so sure of himself when he says that last part. During the deserted event, he discovered he was capable of learning spells and he was overjoyed. However, should he really be arrogant enough to think he can grow stronger and be as powerful as other people here?

Komaeda shakes his head, trying to snap himself out of such a fantasy.]

Well anyway, why would I, with a lousy talent like mine?

It doesn't matter if you amount to anything, or whether you're the most talentless person in the world. You're my friend. I...

[He sighs, trailing off. First Ianchus had put him on a pedestal while behaving as though his own life had no meaning, and now Komaeda... Is it really worth having talent at all if it makes others feel this way? He looks away.]

...I'm going to dry off and change clothes. [He leaves the room, clothes bundled in hand, before the discussion can turn into anything resembling an argument.]

[Komaeda glances at the painting as Yusuke leaves. No matter what Yusuke says, he refuses to remove it. However, does he still have the picture there because of Yusuke's talent, or.....?

His thoughts are stopped by a loud noise on the windows. He returns to them and starts hammering on the boards. The wind is getting stronger.

He'll still be trying to attach a board when Yusuke does. However, as the other boy does so, the board drops to the floor and breaks with a loud snap, one landing on Komaeda's foot.]

Owwww! [It takes a second for him to recover.] Man, that was really unlucky.

[Yusuke has changed clothes and is in the middle of drying his hair when he hears the noise and runs back into the room, expression creased with worry.]

Komaeda-san, are you all right? [Realising it's not too serious, he walks over to pick one half of the board up.] Let me help.

I'm okay! I've had far worse things happen to me. [He holds a hand over the piece of wood to stop him.] That's very kind of you but it's okay! I know how to sort this out.

[He's been practising the spells Harlan taught him, so he should be able to fix the wood back together.]

I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to imply you were incapable...

[He hands the piece of wood to Komaeda, but he'll still try to help if it seems like Komaeda is struggling with it.]

It's all right. I'm not good for much anyway but.....

[And he focuses on the piece of wood. After a few moments, the wood seals itself together, as if it had never snapped in half. Komaeda blushes a little. He is not sure how someone else witnessing him being able to do magic is going to react (aside from Harlan). He's done something useful, right?]

[Yusuke blinks, aghast, looking from him to the wood and back again with clear disbelief on his face.]

Was that -- magic?

Ah....yeah. Kinda. [Komaeda eyes Yusuke's face. He looks really shocked but....

Was that the right thing to do? Or does it make him look massively arrogant and presumptuous?]

[Yusuke's expression quickly shifts from one of shock to open wonder.]

That was amazing! You repaired it perfectly! Where did you learn such a thing?

[Amazing. Yusuke called it amazing. Komaeda did not expect such a strong word. He would like to be useful - maybe even seen as such in some way - but....]

I.....uh....well, Harlan-san has taught me a few things. I didn't think I could do it, but....

[He is still blushing a little but a small smile forms on his face. Komaeda smiles all the time but this one is a little different. It looks more genuine than the happy go lucky smile he has always put on.]

Your power may come to great use someday. I'm certain you should continue to develop it.

[He smiles warmly. Yusuke has seen various types of magic, but nothing quite like Komaeda's.]

Ah, I don't think it'll come to anything great. I shouldn't be so arrogant to put myself up there. But still.....if someone as unimportant as me can finally do something useful....

[And be noticed for it.....actually, no that is a presumptuous thing to think about. And yet, for someone to take him seriously, to say that he matters and for him to repay that someone for doing so...

Even if his diseases take him, it would mean that he dies while achieving something.]

[Yusuke's expression falls as Komaeda puts himself down yet again.]

If you work hard, you'll be able to do wonderful things, whether it's learning magic or something else. You only need have faith in yourself.

Of course I'll work hard as hard as I can! I wouldn't dare insult my teachers by.....[And there is a loud knock on against the windows by the rain.]

Ah, I think we should finish boarding the windows up. Then we can get food. [Which probably consists of toast and savoury biscuits because he doesn't eat much]

This is definitely terrible luck we're having. On the other hand, it could be wonderful luck too! I mean, I've never had someone over to my house before. I'm actually giddy thinking about it!

Yes, let's hurry. I'll hold the boards up so you don't get hurt, and you can affix them in place.

[Which he proceeds to do, taking the two pieces where they'd split in half.]

Is having someone here truly exciting? I thought I was being troublesome, by imposing on you...

Of course! Besides, even if you only came because my apartment happened to be conveniently the closest, I don't mind one bit. I'm just so happy that I can be of help for once!

[He then turns his attention to the split pieces of wood, focusing on them. Within a few seconds, they come back together.] There! Let's get this fixed quickly then I can find you something to eat......what little there is, anyway.
