Event Log: A Little Touchy-Feely

What: The event log for the A Little Touchy Feely event
Where: In the city of Hadriel
When: September 20th-29th

In the morning of September 20th, you wake up with an itch you can't quite seem to scratch. There's a strong impulse, lingering in the back of your mind and it's difficult to figure out exactly what you need at first. You may be unhappy, unsatisfied for most of the morning, but everything clicks when you run into someone else- whether it's a casual interaction with a roommate or friend or a more intimate one with a boyfriend or girlfriend, after a brief moment of contact, suddenly everything falls into place.

You'll spend the next week or so seeking out that contact, consciously or unconsciously. It's not enough to have a handshake or a hi five, you want to be close to people: physically, emotionally, any way you can get it. The closeness makes you happy, the happiness makes you forget about how lame it is on a rocky desert island on an alien planet. Everybody wins, right?

Make sure all cuddles are consensual, and try to stave off the horrible coldness that comes from your fear of being alone, at least for a few more days!

[ Pell figured it out pretty quickly, at least, given the nature of his ability. He has to touch people to heal them, and he'd been feeling a complete mess all day until he got a patient in. And as soon as they made contact... the anxiety, the creeping dread, the aching loneliness, had all melted away. More than it should have, honestly, touching a relative stranger should not have made him feel warm and fuzzy, like it didn't matter who else was gone. He resented it a bit. But had still been reluctant to pull away.

He comes home with a frown lingering on his face from this discovery, and the stress building again. Jo's question is easy enough to answer, and he nods crankily. ]

I'll just show you. Come here.

[knifecollecting]

[Jo gives him a thoughtful look. That's not the answer she was expecting.]

Show me what? [She is approaching, but that doesn't mean she's sure what's going on.]

[pellameno]

It's easier to just show you. You're feeling oddly stressed, right? Uncomfortable, but you don't know why?

[ He stretches a hand out towards her, beckoning. When she comes in range he just snags her hand and instantly the feeling abates, replaced with something warm and peaceful. ]

My bet's on Love, but at least it's easy enough to fix.

[Jo was pretty sure she knew what it was, at least, until Pell takes her hand without warning and all her stress melts away.

...Well, most of it at least.]

What, we're supposed to walk around glued to someone now? [She sounds just barely annoyed. For now, she is rather relaxed.]

It's less than practical, that's for sure.

[ He doesn't sound too happy about it, but acknowledges that he's luckier than many. New folks who don't know anyone here, or those who are uncomfortable with contact itself, which means they're distressed either way. At least he has people he can touch easily. But at the same time? It's just another reminder of what he doesn't have anymore. He sighs. ]

It'll pass, at least. I hope you don't mind if I sleep with you again this week.

[Jo's list is smaller than Pell's, but she is glad she has a list. It's a small comfort.]

I might actually get some sleep if you do. [Sleep has been hard so far.]
