For once, something terrible isn't about to happen- unless you think that getting stuff is terrible, in which case it absolutely is! On the morning of October 5th, items will start appearing all over Hadriel from various other worlds. These items are generally small in size, but are absolutely not from Hadriel and not anything that the gods could have really created, given their limited knowledge about the customs and culture of whatever world you're from.
It's just as well really, because some of this stuff is alien to you as well. Different things from different worlds are all liable to show up and they don't always wind up matched to those whose worlds they're from.
So maybe you wake up with a candy bar on your pillow- or maybe you find some coins that look alien to you, or a necklace, or something else that you may be unfamiliar with. The only way to find out what it is is to ask, right?► This log covers October 5th-8th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If that candy bar was actually poisonous, please let us know here.

and she definitely perks up when she sees the title of the book]
Actually, I've read it before. It is really good.
[she definitely wants it. books are rarer than diamonds around here and just as highly prized by her. but she's trying to play it cool, considering for a moment before extending a hand holding out the doll, her other arm reached out to claim the book]
Count of three, both of us hand over our stuff. One. . . two. . . three.

[He doesn't want to wait. He wants to snatch the doll away, he's unstable and irritated and he's struggling with every motion he's making. But he forces himself to smile at her idea, the count to motion, as if it's a funny game. And it takes all of him to go through with it calmly for the sake of the act.
That's it. Stay calm. Behave.
No matter what he feels inside.
Once he has that doll in his hands he's nearly overwhelmed by the smell of it. It's such an old, ugly doll. Broken and nearly useless. But it smells like the perfume that his niece wears, and it's strong and permeating. Holding it feels like home and nostalgia. And while he'll miss his book, it's far better that her doll is in his own hands and not a stranger's grasp.]
That's better. It's in good hands now. [Tyki sighs, and the doll disappears into a pocket. Which smooths out as if nothing went into it at all.] It's been a pleasure doing business with you. [Only it hasn't, because it's his belonging. Or Road's at least. And he's not very pleased at having to trade for it at all. But he has to behave himself, or nothing he's worked for will mean anything.]

[patience is a virtue. at least, that's what people have told her. but she doesn't entirely trust this guy to make the trade, so that's what the count is for.
yes, behave.
she does it all the time when she doesn't feel like it. part of living in a small town, if you run around being an asshole, everyone's gonna know about it.
and now she has the book! awesome! that brings her books up to a grand total of three, which is three more than anyone else has. not that she's paying attention to these kinds of things. (except that she totally is) she works full time at the Clinic and part time at the Lab and there are still too many hours in the day. and she can't spend all night at the Speakeasy]
That's good. [she notices that. that was weird] Yeah, you too. [and she's on her way, book tucked neatly into her courier bag. she's going right home to read it. and then probably reread it]
