A new day, a new world. Totally normal, right? Maybe not. Welcome to Hadriel!
You awaken on the sandy floor of the colosseum, a cloudy gray sky stretching above you, and around you - flowers. Hey, this isn't so bad, usually new people wake up to monsters! This time, the colosseum is filled with Echo Flowers. Echo Flowers are bioluminescent blue plants that have the ability to repeat the last sound they were exposed to, echoing it for a time before descending into static. These flowers might echo the words you said when you awoke - or they could say something more familiar, something you remember and that they should never have heard.
That's not all, either. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of mood jewelry straight from the mid-90s. These will come in handy, because as soon as you arrive in Hadriel you may start experiencing extreme moods and mood swings, all thanks to the Door. With your very own yin-yang mood ring, you can learn... absolutely nothing, because it's cheap plastic jewelry that cannot actually tell your mood.
Once you've listened to the flowers and picked up a new accessory or two, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers October 10th-12th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[He assumes it happened after the time Lance manually stitched Nate's arm up from the shark bite, so at least a year and a half.
...Jesus, it's really been that long.]

It's been... I don't even know, awhile now. I'd known it for at least a few months before we went out on the boats.
[And thankfully hadn't had to use it, but he'd had it just in case.]
Are you doing better?
no subject
A lot has happened.]
Yeah, think so. Been through the wringer so I'm just a little-
[He makes a vague hand gesture meant to indicate general discombobulation. He hopes it translates.]
Almost thought I was still in Madagascar.

[He makes an exaggerated face to get across how totally insulted he is by that--he's really not, but it's completely necessary to play it up--but then goes serious again.]
Is it... You know, anything you want to talk about?
[Whatever just happen that has him so scattered, beyond just the vague explanations of 'firefight' and 'shipwreck'.]

Well. [Nate goes from pinching the bridge of his nose to pressing the heel of his palms against his eyes, exhaling slowly.] Mercenary situation hasn't changed.
Best of my knowledge, I had a fight with my wife, got marooned on Treasure Island, don't know where my brother is, and an ex-partner with a fifteen year-old grudge is gunning for my ass.
[His hands fall into his lap and the smile he offers is tight.]
So, y'know. The usual.

[Definitely sounds like the usual for Nate, but jokes aside, that's still a lot.]
Getting some sleep will probably help. And seeing your wife.

[There's a weak edge of defeatism in his voice, something that normally doesn't butt in on the eternal optimism that borders on idiocy. He knows he fucked up something fierce.]
Help me up? I gotta get to Elena, we have...some stuff to talk about.
no subject
[He stands up, extending a hand for Nate to take so he can help pull him up.]
You'll figure it out, with Elena. You've both gotten through everything else.

[Or fully understand the context of what he knows. He'll explain it as best he can, but the fact of the matter is that it won't have any bearing on anything back home. They'll have to go through reconciling things again, if they reconcile at all.
Sam had been more optimistic, but Sam also didn't see all the times Nate nearly ruined his marriage in the past.
Nate takes Lance's hand and pulls himself up with a quiet grunt.]
Figure something out.
