Event Log: Gifts from the Door, Monster Version

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the monster version of the Gifts from the Door event
Where: All over the city
When: October 12th-17th
Warnings: Like, so many monsters

No monsters arrived with the newbies - great! One less thing to worry about. Except it never quite works out that way, does it? Maybe the Door was just delayed a little, because on the 12th, a few monsters start appearing. And then more. And then more. Where's the off switch?! Oh right, no one knows.

Some of these monsters you might recognize, some your best friend from another world might be very familiar with. Some might be creatures you've never imagined. But don't worry, they all have one thing in common - they'd all be happy to tear you to itty bitty pieces. Or eat your liver. Or consume your soul. Or just scare the shit out of you, that's fun too.

So lock your doors and stay inside, and hope nothing breaks in through the windows. Alternately, now's a great time to get your hero on and go out and smack some monsters around. It's great exercise, and there's nothing better for stress relief! Just avoid those big scary fangs.

[oops, she certainly hadn't meant to startle her. quite the opposite, in fact] And now one is here.

The so-called gods. I know that they work on the Door. Perhaps their work is going poorly.

Perhaps they mean to inspire fear in us. [ One of the gods plays the patron of that emotion, after all. ] In any case, they have succeeded.

[ She breathes in deeply, rising to her feet. ]

If there is one, then there may be more. Please be cautious.

I certainly wouldn't put it past them. [she believes them capable of anything in their efforts to inspire emotion]

[she goes to stand by Dany's side, keeping a careful watch out for more of the things]

There are almost certainly more. [she draws her dagger and scans the ground surrounding them, spotting one headed towards the door] There's one right there! [she points at it, then drops down to more easily skewer the thing]

[ Dany's heart leaps as Margaery does, but the other woman presently snuffs the life out of the manticore. Her own heart is pounding as she clutches her weapon, clenched fist turning white as she grips it. ]

We should go inside. [ She advises in a low voice, as if louder tones might draw the beasts to them. ] And if they're there too, then...we are worse off than I thought.

[ugh. that was disgusting. it had made a sickening crunching sound as her dagger struck true and now that she's withdrawn it, it seems to have manticore goo clinging to it. she pulls out a handkerchief and cleans the blade, keeping it at the ready]

With any luck, they'll be kept confined to the outdoors. However, if they have gotten inside, I have to believe that the two of us can kill them. [she opens the door to their house and gestures for Dany to go in]

Only if we can catch them before they sting. [ They're very quick, after all, and might be more nimble than the two women. ] Be cautious.

I will. [she promises and makes her way inside] They wouldn't happen to rattle or hiss or anything like that, would they?

They will hiss if they mean to attack, I think. [ In her limited experience, anyway. ] But once you hear that, it may be too late.
