Event Log: Gifts from the Door, Monster Version

What: The event log for the monster version of the Gifts from the Door event
Where: All over the city
When: October 12th-17th
Warnings: Like, so many monsters

No monsters arrived with the newbies - great! One less thing to worry about. Except it never quite works out that way, does it? Maybe the Door was just delayed a little, because on the 12th, a few monsters start appearing. And then more. And then more. Where's the off switch?! Oh right, no one knows.

Some of these monsters you might recognize, some your best friend from another world might be very familiar with. Some might be creatures you've never imagined. But don't worry, they all have one thing in common - they'd all be happy to tear you to itty bitty pieces. Or eat your liver. Or consume your soul. Or just scare the shit out of you, that's fun too.

So lock your doors and stay inside, and hope nothing breaks in through the windows. Alternately, now's a great time to get your hero on and go out and smack some monsters around. It's great exercise, and there's nothing better for stress relief! Just avoid those big scary fangs.

[The limiter, then, probably serves the additional purpose of implanting some sort of morality. Disgusting, the very concept of such a device.

Hm. Unless it could be removed or deactivated remotely, and without the knowledge of the wearer as to the nature of its own true self so as to keep it from tampering with the method of said deactivation. Demons could be polymorphed into disguises and the limiters could help them blend into mortal society, even for ones that normally wouldn't have the capacity to do so willingly. Deactivate, and then instantly the angry agent of destruction could be unleashed on an unsuspecting town.

Ooh, she's going to have to write that one down later.]

Ah, so it's that strong, this minus wave. I see. These limiters must be quite strong themselves, then, to keep so much aggression contained. Have you seen any demons here wearing them? You might be one of the only ones who would know what to look for, to be able to warn others of the risk.

[Goku shakes his head, and answers without thinking.]

No just me. But they look normal, and even if I did know I wouldn't say anything. If they're using one they gotta have a reason.

[There's her confirmation, but she was pretty certain of that. She was hoping he might volunteer information about the limiter, but perhaps she'll still be able to get at that without coming across as too suspicious.]

I see. You'll have to be careful, you know. I've heard most of these people consider demons to be their enemies. What's your reason for the limiter? Teamwork with the people trying to stop that other demon you mentioned?

[Oh, he had said that didn't he? He wasn't going to lie about it. He still hates secrets and lies even if he's started to pick up a few. Besides, she doesn't seem upset about it.]

Oh yeah. I told ya, it's that I don't want to hurt anyone.

Just - in general? That's... kind of you.

[Ew. She's proud of herself though for managing to smile and act as if she really means it.]

Do you mind - what does the limiter look like? I'm just so curious, we don't have anything like that where I come from. It might help a lot of demons in my world, to be able to fit in better.

[He gives her a weird look because it's a weird thing to say. Of course he doesn't want to hurt anybody for no reason. That's not being kind, that's being normal.]

I told ya, they mostly look like jewelry. Most of them aren't anywhere as big as mine.

[He gestures slightly to the large gold diadem he always wears. He doesn't think anything of sharing the information. As soon as people know he and Hakkai are demons they're able to spot the limiters right away. Especially since his is so obvious.]

I see. You're right, I had expected something a little more subtle.

[How strong is he without it, she wonders? He'd done moderately well against the jariliths, but those little things hadn't really given the fight much effort in her opinion. Would he be an unstoppable monster? Or would he simply remain as is, but attack wildly and violently regardless? Because that is a very funny image.]

Well, take good care of it, as I'm sure you do. You wouldn't want to hurt anyone here, after all. Just like you said.

[He laughs a little at her description of the limiter. He didn't think anything of saying what it was, but there's no reason to get into how it's different from normal ones. He gets more serious at her suggestion and jumps up onto his feet.]

I always do. oof, that was a good rest. I'm gonna go see if there's any more monsters around. Wanna come with?

[And she doesn't mind just bluntly saying so. She's gotten the information she wanted, after all.]

I have other things to tend to. Go on, I'm sure you can handle them yourself.
