Event Log: Gifts from the Door, Monster Version

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for the monster version of the Gifts from the Door event
Where: All over the city
When: October 12th-17th
Warnings: Like, so many monsters

No monsters arrived with the newbies - great! One less thing to worry about. Except it never quite works out that way, does it? Maybe the Door was just delayed a little, because on the 12th, a few monsters start appearing. And then more. And then more. Where's the off switch?! Oh right, no one knows.

Some of these monsters you might recognize, some your best friend from another world might be very familiar with. Some might be creatures you've never imagined. But don't worry, they all have one thing in common - they'd all be happy to tear you to itty bitty pieces. Or eat your liver. Or consume your soul. Or just scare the shit out of you, that's fun too.

So lock your doors and stay inside, and hope nothing breaks in through the windows. Alternately, now's a great time to get your hero on and go out and smack some monsters around. It's great exercise, and there's nothing better for stress relief! Just avoid those big scary fangs.

It does chill at times.  It's bad more than good, but there's good here.  We have freedom, we can make friends, sometimes we even get parties.

I go by Abigail[She doesn't count any labels the press back home gave her.  That daughter of the shrike isn't really a nickname.]  And you're a Peter, not a Pete?

I have met a lot of pretty cool people, so I hear you on that one.

Peter to some people, Pete to others. I can go either way, really.

[She gives a small smile.]  I don't suppose you've met any zombie hunters?

Are you from an America?  Planet Earth?

[She never knows in Hadriel.]

[Oh good, a smile probably means she isn't freaking out quite as much about zombies. He'll call that a win.]

I've met people from places with zombies, but I don't know if they were full blown zombie hunters. And yeah, I'm from New York. You?

[That's unexpected.  She hasn't met anyone from a zombie world,at least not that she knows of.] 

I grew up in Minnesota.  I lived in Baltimore for a little while too.  And that's it.  This place was a real change.

I've only ever lived in New York, so the whole city vibe here wasn't too hard to get used to. Population-wise though, this place is like a ghost town in comparison. It still kind of weirds me out, but it is kind of nice not to hear someone outside honking their horn every thirty seconds.

I wouldn't mind hearing a car horn, if the car was running over zombies.  I wouldn't mind the sound of a rifle shot either.  It's make life here a lot easier if I could get on a roof and take out the dangerous monsters.  Or hunt them properly.  I have the arrows, but it's not the same.

Gross. But yeah, actually, someone plowing these things over with a car would be kind of nice right now. Well, it would be disgusting, but it beats having to walk around with them.

Did you hunt a lot back home?

Yeah. I hunted deer mostly.  There's something special about having a meal where you killed the animal yourself.  You know that it didn't suffer and every part of it was used. 

[She pauses, hoping he's a not a vegetarian she's just offended.] 

I guess that might sound strange if you're not a hunter yourself.

[dude he will eat so many animals it's all good]

Nah, it doesn't really. I mean, I've never even been fishing, but I can totally see where you're coming from. There's something more satisfying about being able to do all that for yourself, it sounds like.

I've fished here.  I could teach you if you'd like.

[She nods.] 

It is very satisfying.  But it's nice to have help too.  Especially around zombies. 

[She manages anther smile.  They're even closer to the spire now and she hasn't heard any zombie growls or human screams.  She takes that as a good sign.]

That would be pretty cool, actually. I've heard that the fish are like the only animals around here that aren't some kind of freaky monsters.

[No spider senses tingling either, so either Peter's distracted or there aren't any gross zombies hanging around. Hell yes good times]

There's also Winston!  He's my dog, well Will's dog, and he's not freaky at all. 

[She looks at the door of the spire, and then over to Peter.]

Do you think they're okay in there?  I don't hear anything bad.

[itsnotaonesie]

Oh, that's cool! That's something this place needs, more non-freaky dogs.

[He pauses to listen for spooky noises and the like, as far as he can tell everything is pretty clear.]

It sounds okay to me. I think it's safe to guess that they're okay, but keep your guard up just in case.

[The last bit was more directed to himself as he reaches the door and peeks inside. Nothing's biting his face off, so far so good.]

Will used to have a bunch of dogs back home.  It'd be cool to meet them.

It's always good to have your guard up here.  Or anywhere.

[Abigail stays back and moves closer when nothing jumps out and tries to eat him.]

Do you see any monsters?

Looks clear, sounds clear. I think it's all clear.

[He steps inside fully, and since he isn't being attacked by boogiemen, he holds the door open for her to follow.]

[Abigail follows him inside.]

Doesn't smell like death either.   Should we go up the stairs to my apartment or should we check the apartments down here first?

[He takes a few steps in and pauses for a moment, just kinda feeling for if anything's pinging on his spider sense radar before he answers.]

It feels fine, I think it's safe to go up. If you wanna check in on your neighbors and stuff first though, we totally can.

No, let's go up first.

[It might be selfish, but she wants to make sure Will and Winston are okay.]
