Event Log: Memories Past

Who: Everyone
What: Memory Share Event!
Where: All around the city
When: November 14th-20th
Warnings: Please remember to tag all warnings for memory shares!

Have you ever looked through someone else's eyes? Heard through their ears, spoken with their tongue? The gods have tried to teach some of you empathy, but it's time you learned the hard way, exactly what the others here have been through. For a week, every time you brush skin to skin with someone, you'll experience a memory of theirs: happy, sad, it doesn't matter. All that matters is that it feels real to you.

The first touch may come as a surprise- it lasts only for a split second but may feel like an eternity, where you're trapped in someone else's memory. After that, it could be more expected, and some may even figure out how to control it and share specific scenes from their past with others. Or, you might wear gloves and long sleeve shirts for awhile, nobody's judging.

Maybe curtail the handholding for awhile- or go right ahead, if that's your thing. After all, you never really know somebody unless you've walked a mile in their shoes, right?

► This log covers November 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in a memory, you don't die in real life, but if you do die in real life please let us know here.
roseofthetyrells: (it's a sharp shock to your soft side)

Unfortunately, that's very true. [a pause] I tried to be a good queen, but Tommen was a weak king.

[and too easily influenced by his mother, Cersei]

I would appreciate that very much. Though, I truly hope she never shows her face here. I had to tolerate her behavior towards me and others for years. I'd rather she not come here to continue to abuse people.
toiletseat_girl: (I'm gone and you're still here)

[George didn't feel anything for most of her eighteen years. she didn't care what people thought and she didn't care who she hurt. she didn't care that she didn't have any friends, or at least she convinced herself of that. it was easier to face rejection when you were the one doing the rejecting. usually]

You're the first person to tell me that. [she says frankly] Most people act like it was a big tragedy. [and she's coming around to that view. maybe her family would be dealing with her death more easily if she'd been the loving daughter and sister she should have been, but wasn't. they would at least have fond memories instead of regrets.

she shrugs]
It just sort of . . . gradually happened. A disappointment here, a humiliation there and I slowly just. Learned how not to give a fuck. About anything.

[George would recommend not following that path. it doesn't lead to anything good]
roseofthetyrells: (I hear it in my head real low)

[personal profile] roseofthetyrells 2018-11-28 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
It was. [bitterly] And now it's going to be the spoils of war for whichever side wins.

[she sighs] We do. At least I do.
unphase: (to tell me where the pretty girls are)

[personal profile] unphase 2018-11-28 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
It can't. What does he look like, so I know who to look for?
toiletseat_girl: (hello hello hello how do I reach you?)

[personal profile] toiletseat_girl 2018-11-28 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
--fuck. Fuck. What did you see? Do I wanna know? [she's been through stuff like this and hates it hates it hates it]
toiletseat_girl: (the smart money's on Harlow)

[personal profile] toiletseat_girl 2018-11-28 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
[she grins] You do that. Hold it close and treasure it every single time someone's being a fucking douchebag.

[friends in school? what are those?]
missiondeterminant: Haven't put these up on my icon journal yet; anything tagged as tesseractheart feel free to take (16)

[Connor's gaze flickers toward the door when Drake nods at it, grateful for the chance to retreat, and gives him another small nod of understanding before taking his opportunity and disappearing out the door.]
so_dark_a_road: (until the world ends)

Curufin nods. "Yes, it does. I wouldn't want to keep either wood or charcoal in the open. I suppose we could claim the unused units in Delight's Housing for wood storage, though. That's currently #02, #04, #05, #07, #09, and #10. Lots of space, if we don't mind dragging wood and sacks of charcoal up and down the spiral walk."

oldtonew: (014)

[personal profile] oldtonew 2018-11-28 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[ She watches him for a moment. ]

You aren't so bad, for a human.
oldtonew: (003)

[personal profile] oldtonew 2018-11-28 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
A wise strategy. [ Kettara leans forward, intrigued. ] Truly? Your science is quite advanced!
oldtonew: (005)

[personal profile] oldtonew 2018-11-28 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Not immunity, no. But I can ask the elements for aid and if they agree, they will not harm me for a time."

The elements are fickle, like all living things, and don't always obey.

She watches him curiously, listening. "An elf. I see. There are elves in my world, but they do not look like you. I don't know much about their inherited gifts. Some of them are gifted gem crafters and smiths, but that is true of many races. Some elves follow the druidic path, but there are no shamans among them. But among my people, among orcs, it is a common path."
bythewaves: (hm?)

Maglor tips his head considering.

"That would work. There's your forge, too - I know you keep that warm and dry!"
bythewaves: (as a father to you)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2018-11-28 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Maglor brushes his hair fondly, careful not to touch.

"I don't need anyone to mind for me, Cole. But I won't stop you, if you want to."
unphase: (time thought I'd made friends with time)

[personal profile] unphase 2018-11-28 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's worked for us so far! [and she hopes that it continues to work in their current battle] It really is. We have things that make this place's phones seem like nothing. We can travel between the stars. It's amazing.
missiondeterminant: (37)

[personal profile] missiondeterminant 2018-11-28 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly.

[He totally gets the hiding away; he would be doing the same if he hadn't found out--]

But it's controllable, in much the same way androids share memories in my world.
glazedonutholes: (PB: Don't)

[personal profile] glazedonutholes 2018-11-28 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
They're not cannibals either. [ He huffs. ] That's just mean.

[ Is he actually getting mad? Maybe? He's definitely getting defensive. Good-luck with dealing with a teenage girl! ]

bythewaves: (alone)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2018-11-28 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately that is often the way of things.

[ He sighs ]

But! You are here - and you have a new life ahead of you.
bythewaves: (brothers)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2018-11-28 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Very like me! [ Maglor laughs ]

His hair is shorter, and his shoulders broader. He's easy to catch on the network, if you want him.

While Carlisle is treated to memories of a sunrise and an equine companion, Pratt gets an eye into the conversation Carlisle happens to be recalling at that very moment. There's Carlisle himself, a fellow a couple of inches shorter than him, also with glasses, and a whole couch-load of handheld games. The younger man points out some of the buttons on the one in his hand.

"Okay. So, to turn this one on, just hit this button the far right here. Not the super tiny one; I think that like, hard resets the whole thing if it freezes or whatever, but you don't need it to actually play. The objective of Sonic games is usually to pick up rings and not die, and these handheld games are like, super simple compared to normal games, so... Basically this thing over here is the D-pad, and you pretty the direction you want to go. The buttons on the other side are special moves or options."

Carlisle nods, scribbling in his journal where he's drawn a crude approximation of the device and its buttons. He goes along labeling each one carefully, the ink sliding easily across the page. "So it's... some kind of interactive story about this 'Sonic 3 the Hedgehog' and his quest to gather rings?"

Chris' eyes flick to the graphic at the top of the device, then back to Carlisle. "... It's Sonic the Hedgehog 3, though I can see how it'd be confusing. But yeah, sort of. Sonic is a really, really fast hedgehog who's collecting power rings to defeat some guy in a flying robot suit. Or something. Wow it sounds stupid said like that." He shrugs, adding: "A lot of games don't make that much sense, though. Suspension of disbelief or whatever."

Meeting Chris' gaze with an incredulous look, Carlisle continues scrawling, adding a note in the corner: He's really really fast, but hedgehogs aren't fast?

The clergyman yanks his hand away the second he comes back around to reality, his mouth taking off a mile a minute. "Ah! It's not real, it's not- I mean- I mean you're real and I assume the horse was real at some point, but it's not real real in the here and now it's- it's the false gods. False gods and... ah."

He trails off. "Oh. That, er. That one wasn't so bad, actually. Comparatively speaking."

[personal profile] glazedonutholes 2018-11-28 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
You need twins for that, Duh.

[ Did Donut just 'Duh' you? Yes, he most certainly did. ]

You can't do it all alone and Lopez refuses to help me and don't even get me started on Sarge.
such_a_teez: (And lots of teasing Jasdevi)

[personal profile] such_a_teez 2018-11-28 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that depends on what you consider scandalous. I can't say it was the prettiest thing I've ever seen. [So much careless gore, so much wasted suffering and potential. Demons just don't kill well, it seems. He figured for all of her reputation, she was more frightening than that. More exciting and cruel, less animalistic.

But oh, Ianchus was lovely when he writhed in pain. Enough so that it's hard to look at him and not imagine for a moment a more fitting death for someone so beautiful. He'd be a wonderful Teez nursery, but so far he's too interesting a companion to consider for death in any way. Too likable. Killing him would be a waste, in the end. Beautiful or not in death, there are easier targets if he loses his way.

Tyki takes the water, and drinks a bit. He wishes that the burn in his nose would go away from it, but it's just not going to happen any time soon.]
You've died here. [He's odd in his tone, there's something hard to read in his expression too.] Are you alright? Did you come back without problems?
such_a_teez: (Pour one for the fallen com)

[personal profile] such_a_teez 2018-11-28 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[What an embarrassing memory to have exposed. Tyki laughs lightly, almost weak sounding at the idea of being seen that way. He's very permissive with Road, he loves her dearly and lets her do pretty much whatever she wants. Worse, if she'd begged and thrown the doll back, he would have done more of the Lero voice without too much in the way of complaint. It's an embarrassing memory to have someone else see, but also a sweet one to remember and it gives him a warm feeling somehow.

But all of that warmth is marred still by the sound of young Kettara's wailing. It's echoing in his head, the scene reverberating. And he wishes he could forget it, just take it out of his memories by easy selection, never to be seen again.]

She's something else, isn't she? She's the darling of our family.
such_a_teez: (And there were strippers?)

[personal profile] such_a_teez 2018-11-28 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Better to have more than you need than less. Tyki looks appreciative when Pratt steps back, glad that he at least seems to know what's going on. He doesn't want to keep the cycle of memory sharing going on.]

She's a charmer. [But it's said with the same tone that one might use describing a dirty stray animal that bites when you try to feed it.] This is ridiculous. Are the gods so hungry and desperate that they have to pull this? Or are they just losing control? Either way, it's inconvenient.
oldtonew: (003)

[personal profile] oldtonew 2018-11-28 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I'm certain she knows it.

[ Kettara recognizes the attitude from the time she's spent playing with the Horde's orphans, always under the careful eye of one of the matrons. Some children know how to make themselves the center of everything, reveling in the chaos that surrounds them. All the better to exploit with a grin. Kettara, not so secretly, loves children. She thinks she would like Road, if they ever had the chance to meet. ]

Ah...did you see anything? Sometimes it goes both ways.
such_a_teez: (I miss the Tyki that nicknamed everyone)

[personal profile] such_a_teez 2018-11-28 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[For a moment, he considers simply saying nothing, and sparing her the details of what is obviously an unpleasant memory. But after a second he shrugs and sighs. He's not the best liar, twisting words is one thing he does well, but he just isn't the best at outright dishonesty.] I did. The gods are at it again, I'm afraid.
