Event Log: Memories Past

Have you ever looked through someone else's eyes? Heard through their ears, spoken with their tongue? The gods have tried to teach some of you empathy, but it's time you learned the hard way, exactly what the others here have been through. For a week, every time you brush skin to skin with someone, you'll experience a memory of theirs: happy, sad, it doesn't matter. All that matters is that it feels real to you.

The first touch may come as a surprise- it lasts only for a split second but may feel like an eternity, where you're trapped in someone else's memory. After that, it could be more expected, and some may even figure out how to control it and share specific scenes from their past with others. Or, you might wear gloves and long sleeve shirts for awhile, nobody's judging.

Maybe curtail the handholding for awhile- or go right ahead, if that's your thing. After all, you never really know somebody unless you've walked a mile in their shoes, right?

A wise strategy. [ Kettara leans forward, intrigued. ] Truly? Your science is quite advanced!

It's worked for us so far! [and she hopes that it continues to work in their current battle] It really is. We have things that make this place's phones seem like nothing. We can travel between the stars. It's amazing.

I cannot imagine such things, [ Kettara admits. But she would like to. ] Have you been to many worlds?

[she grins] Have I! Twenty or more and that's before I joined the Legion. My mom's our planet's ambassador and she's really powerful. A lot of people listen to her.

Truly? [ Kettara stares at Tinya a moment, trying to imagine such a thing. ] Then you have seen many wonderful things.

[she grins in response] Have I! I've seen purple or green or pink skies, red sands, the rings around Saturn from Titan, one of its moons, gardens beyond describing. I've seen sentients of every shape, size, and color. It never stops amazing me. I wish my Omnicom was working so I could show you pictures.

I will have to imagine it instead. [ How beautiful. ] The universe is much greater than I had imagined.

I wish I could show it to you in person. You'd love it. And it is. It's amazing. So much stuff to see, so many people to meet. Maybe someday, they'll figure out a way to let us travel between worlds. That way, I can see yours and you can see mine! All of them.

[ Kettara brightens. ]

I would like that very much. You would be honored among my people. The others would gather to hear your stories.

[she beams in response]

And you would be among mine. [she blushes] And it's nice of you to say so. But, I've gotta say, your stories would be even more interesting to my worlds.

Your world sounds very different from mine, [ Kettara allows. She's not certain how she feels about going to a world where there are no orcs. But it sounds beautiful and wild, and it did produce a warrior like Tinya. Therefore it must be a worthy place. ] Perhaps - perhaps I could see it one day and decide for myself.

It probably is, but I think you'd love it. [none would hold the fact that she's an orc against her, not among the other Legionnaires. and that's the important part, as they've become her family over the past few months back home] I hope you can. I hope that we all get to visit each other's worlds once all of this is over.

It's something to hope for, [ Kettara agrees. ] I would like you to meet my master. He would like to hear of all the worlds you have seen.

I would really, really love the chance to meet your master. The stories I could tell him! All the places I've been, all the people I've met. And he could tell me stories about you and and him and your people.

[ Kettara nods happily, trying to imagine it. Master Muln would approve of Tinya, she thinks. And it would be good to share new stories of glorious battles and distant worlds. A reprieve from all the chaos. ] I would take you to Mulgore, through the forest, and from there to Ogrimmar, our capital. It's supposed to be beautiful, the pride of the Horde. I've only seen it from a distance.

[she's trying to imagine it, too. she hopes that she would be accepted. she may not be human, but she looks human]

I'd love to go and I'd really love it for you to show me everything. Mulgore, the forest, what are they like? And what did you get to see from a distance?

[ Kettara brightens. ]

Mulgore is beautiful and dangerous. Full of kodo. Sometimes we follow the river and travel with the merchants. But it's nothing compared to Ogrimmar. I've only seen the gates. They've never fallen in battle.

[she smiles warmly at her in response]

Beautiful and dangerous. Sounds like my kind of place. But, what's a kodo? And following the river is always a good idea. It usually leads to settlements of some kind. [and her eyes widen] Really? They must be very strong. I'd love it if you could show it to me.

A large beast of burden. The tauren tame them and ride them into battle. Or use them to carry supplies. They are fearsome creatures!

[ Kettara nods, grinning. ]

Yes! Ogrimmar is a great city. Our warchief resides there. He built it out of nothing, and from that, the Horde rose.

Yeah? What's a tauren? Is it okay for me to ask that? [she doesn't want to step all over Kettara's cultural boundaries]

That is really impressive. Most major cities on Earth, they've been there in some form or another for a thousand years. But to build a city out of nothing! That's something!

Tauren are our allies. They are tall and have horns, like this. [ She demonstrates with her hands, grinning. ] Master Muln is a tauren. They are mighty warriors and honorable shaman. They follow the teachings of the Earth Mother.

[ She nods again. ]

Ogrimmar was the first city our warchief established. The first of the new Horde. He united all the races of the Horde - orcs, goblins, the trolls and tauren. Even the blood elves joined us. We fight together, side by side.

The Earth Mother. . . is that where you get your magic from?

That's amazing. I've never heard of a planet where there are multiple races that all of them evolved together. I would really love to see your world.

[ Kettara shakes her head. ]

Our power comes from the elemental spirits. Though it's said the Earth Mother created the land we walk on, so in a way she may have created the elements as well. It's a - difficult place, at times. There were no orcs, originally. My ancestors came from a planet called Draenor. It was dying, and they were dying. So they decided they would conquer this new world.

[ She looks sad a moment, but rallies. ]

They did not succeed, of course. Now we are allied with the tauren and many others.

Elemental spirits? Your world must be amazing to have such things. [and the mention of conquest briefly throws the girl from a society that's supposed to be all about peaceful coexistence, but it's not her world. she shouldn't judge] I'm glad that your people got a second chance.

[she gives her a warm look, hoping to make her feel better]

Having allies is always a good thing. There's a saying where I'm from, "those who stand alone, die alone."

It is beautiful.

[ Dangerous, but beautiful. ]

Yes. My people had the chance to redeem themselves. Now we are united. We will make a better world for our children.
