Have you ever looked through someone else's eyes? Heard through their ears, spoken with their tongue? The gods have tried to teach some of you empathy, but it's time you learned the hard way, exactly what the others here have been through. For a week, every time you brush skin to skin with someone, you'll experience a memory of theirs: happy, sad, it doesn't matter. All that matters is that it feels real to you.
The first touch may come as a surprise- it lasts only for a split second but may feel like an eternity, where you're trapped in someone else's memory. After that, it could be more expected, and some may even figure out how to control it and share specific scenes from their past with others. Or, you might wear gloves and long sleeve shirts for awhile, nobody's judging.
Maybe curtail the handholding for awhile- or go right ahead, if that's your thing. After all, you never really know somebody unless you've walked a mile in their shoes, right?► This log covers November 14th-20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die in a memory, you don't die in real life, but if you do die in real life please let us know here.
Puppy Piles
He could ask what on earth was happening, but by this point, these things were easy to figure out. Also, his priorities might have been a bit skewed.
"Because those braids were remarkably off-center. I don't know what I was thinking."
no subject
"Are we sharing memories, now? And you were... what. Fifty? I think you can be excused for off-center braids!"
no subject
He shrugs.
"Either your osanwe has decided to bloom very late or You Know Who is somehow involved."
no subject
"You did get better at your braids quickly?"
no subject
"Oh, I know. It's just embarrassing, that's all."
Has anyone explained the concept of vanity to Fingon in a way he can apply it to himself?no subject
He laughs softly. "You were a child! You're allowed to make mistakes at that age, Finno."
no subject
He chuckles at that. "Oh, let me be a bit dramatic. Or is that a Feanorian privilege, now?"
no subject
"You are plenty dramatic!" Maglor laughs. "But very well, I will not tell you not to bemoan your lack of braiding skill at that age."
no subject
Fingon puts on his most comically earnest face, then laughs. "Strange, though. I had half-forgotten your parents' house could actually be quiet, even if the reason was that most of you were asleep."
no subject
Maglor's makes some sense at least. But poor Caranthir!
He snorts, amused. "You're a fine one to talk, your house was just as bad, and there were less of you!"
no subject
He laughs, shaking his head. "Ah, but one of us was Irisse. She was more trouble than any three of your brothers."
no subject
"Oh dear. Well, hair commander isn't bad..." Just a little odd, but no weirder than naming someone Dark because you couldn't think of anything else, after all.
"Good point. One does have to wonder if Uncle Arafinwe's house was any better, considering they had Artanis, but she was never loud." Just. Terrifying.
no subject
That one was... certainly unfortunate. Did Caranthir come into the world and bite Feanor, or something?
"It was fairly loud for a while. There was a reason there was such a delay between Turno and Irisse; Mother never understood how Aunt Earwen managed so many children right in a row."
no subject
"Although in fairness I have been assured that I was named because I was, in fact, that loud."
Everyone heard you cry, Kano; Maitimo had laughed, once. Right across the house and down to the stables. He's still not sure if his brother was entirely exaggerating.
actually, Yes"But your brother was such a nice, polite child...." Maglor teases.
no subject
He rolls his eyes at that. "Then I suppose the reasonable conclusion is that I was still a demon child who terrified my parents into waiting for another? Or that they were very, very tired of losing sheets to his pillow forts?"
no subject
"Both." He says sagely. "When in doubt, the answer is both. Do you know, I'm still not entirely sure how he and Finrod managed to steal grandfather's bedsheets that one time."
