Intro Log: A Day at the Beach

Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

It's icy cold when you wake up, so let's hope you arrived here wearing warm clothes. They're not too easy to find right now, either - Hadriel is a pretty unwelcoming place. You're on the floor of the colosseum, which is sandy and (right now) a bit frosty. It's you, the other newcomers - and of course, a battalion of newly-arrived giant scorpions, just as confused as you and ready to fight. They're big and fast, they've got armor covering their creepy bodies, and that stinger will seriously mess you up if you're not careful. So... welcome to Hadriel!

You might be cold, but the Door doesn't seem to be. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found some beach towels with creative designs. And if that's not enough, you'll be all prepared for a day at the beach with these cute sandals (jandals?). Too bad there's no beach and it's really cold and everything sucks, right?

Once you've finished dreaming about a warm beach vacation, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Tinya is here, in her authority as a junior Guardsman. she's determined to keep the local monsters from harming anyone who comes through, but this guy seems to have it all together. fine. makes teamwork easy, right? so she smiles at him and flies in to hover at his side]

You take the one on the right, I'll take the one on your left. Sounds good?

[often_impaled]

[Oh shit. The other ladies were pretty enough, but Tinya is stunning. Dante really is spoiled here, and if she can hold her own that's even cooler. Oh yeah, maybe Hadriel won't be as miserable as expected. He still wants to go home, he needs to find a way. But if the time he spends here is filled with beautiful people and monster battles he'll find a way to make the best of it.] I'm down for it! Let's go!

[Dante tries to keep an eye out for Tinya, but he's not quite as worried as he was two powerful young women ago. Back home, finding someone who could fight was a rarity. Here, it's going to be a lot easier on him to keep the people safe.] Never thought I'd end up on extermination duty. Too bad I'm outta bug spray.

[unphase]

[she'd blush bright pink to be described as stunning. no one else has done that, not even Jo. and she can hold her own. at least she can now. she has a katana and she's had lessons on how to use it. so now she can go on the offense, not just play defense and phase] All right! This is gonna be fun.

[she's phased the lower half of her body so that the scorpions' stingers hit nothing. her upper body (especially her arms) are very solid, though, and they're administering a thorough beat-down to any scorpions that get within her reach, flying so quickly the scorpions can barely react. and she giggles] Welcome to Hadriel. Where once a month, everything wants to kill you and the rest of the time? Boredom. Total boredom.

[She's so his type. He'll be a little sad when he finds out she's unavailable. But on the menu or not, she's fun. She's a hot girl who can fight and play and just be amazing. So although he's not too happy about Hadriel in general, he keeps finding more reasons to make the best of things while he's here.]

Wait, so the city gets the monster monthlies, but that's about it? C'mon, there's got to be bars, parties, stuff like that right? Please say I didn't just get stuck in the lamest city in the universe.

[unphase]

[yeahhhh. about that availability thing. thanks to the memory thing, it's a bit more. . . wavery than it used to be. but that's best saved for conversation and right now, fighting is what's going on. and right now, she's baiting one of the scorpions, its stinger flailing its way through her intangible lower half, while she flies in behind it and beheads it.

she giggles] Yeah, that's about it! We do have the Speakeasy, that's a bar, but it's running low on alcohol because the stupid aliens stranded us in the middle of nowhere and didn't bother to show up. [teasing] And you may have gotten stuck in the lamest city in the universe.

[often_impaled]

Nice trick. You know, on anyone else that would have been a nasty hit.

[Yeah, he's not sure exactly what she is. He can tell that she's not human, that much is pretty obvious. But she doesn't smell anything like a demon, and she's not acting in anything but a positive way. Because mass killing of giant bugs is totally positive in Dante's mind. She's confusing, but she's stunning and fun so for now he's just going to go with it.

Besides, it doesn't matter what she is. It's how fun she is that counts.] Seriously? We're gonna have to liven this city up. [Dante doesn't need alcohol to have fun, he usually doesn't drink it. But he does need parties and people, he thrives on that sort of energy and he's not sure how he's going to deal with one place to hang out.]

[unphase]

[she flashes him a naughty smile] One of the fringe benefits of being me. Nothing touches me if I don't want it to.

[there's time to get into what she is after the battle is over. and she almost always acts in a positive way. she's a very positive person. she's even managing to repress the fact that she's likely dead in her world and he's fun to fight alongside, not to mention handsome, so she's enjoying herself a lot.

she grins at him] I'm open to suggestions! [she doesn't usually partake, either. and when she does, it's girly cocktails that are as much fruit juice as they are alcohol. and she loves parties, she adores dancing, and it's been too long since she had either]

[Oh, that's cute. She's got the pretty kind of face that can make almost any expression appealing. And that smile tops the charts on attractive. She's really impressive though besides that, her powers are keeping her safe and she's taking out monsters like a pro. It really doesn't get much better than this.

Especially when she brings up suggestions. He's totally got a few.] That's what I'm talkin' about. We'll make this place a party. Get things set up, paint the town red, whatever it takes. [It'll take a lot, unfortunately. But regardless of what they achieve, Dante will totally go dancing with her.]

[unphase]

[she'd likely blush a little and smile should he say so. and he's pretty good to look at, too, should you ask her. and her powers are very, very useful in situations like this. she can phase parts of herself while the arm wielding the katana stays solid, making these scorpions easy prey.

and she welcomes hearing them!] All of that sounds great to me. Between you and me, most people around here don't seem to know how to have any fun. It's sad. We'll probably have to ask to "borrow" the Speakeasy, unless we can find a large enough space and the music to go with it. And then, dancing! [she looks enthused as she cuts the head off of another scorpion]

Yeah! We're gonna have a hell of a time! [Dante's sort of dancing is probably illegal in most places with good morals and character, but thankfully as a whole Hadriel is lacking those things. Almost as much as it's lacking quality entertainment.] Gotta ask though, since you're full of good ideas and info, is there anything good at all to eat here? I'm guessing my favorite deliver joint doesn't come all the way to Hadriel.

[Another falls to his tactics. At this rate, they're going to end up running out of monsters.]

[unphase]

We sure are! [you wouldn't hear her complaining. she's always had a bit of a wild side, much to her mother's irritation. fortunately, her mother isn't here. and neither are people with good morals or character] And you'd be right about that guess. [she winks] Let's see, most people rely on the shops. Unfortunately, we're kind of running low on food since the alien who provides it isn't here.

[and she skewers another as well. between the two of them, they have this scorpion problem nailed]

Shit. [Dante doesn't curse a lot, but that really was worth dropping one for. Without pizza, he doesn't know how he'll survive. He literally lives on takeout at this point, with delivery for dessert. He has the domestic skills of a snail at best.] I might just end up starving. If I die, dance the night away in my honor.

[They really do, the land lobsters don't stand a chance.]

[unphase]

[Unfortunately, there are no restaurants in Hadriel. thinking about it, she's actually kind of surprised that no one's opened one yet. and a playful eye roll] You're not gonna starve. You may not like what you eat, but there's still food at the shops. And since you're not gonna starve, you won't die and you can dance the night away with me.

[they are making short work of them]

[often_impaled]

Can I really dance if I'm not at my best? [He sighs so dramatically, and then grins like it's all the most fun thing ever.] Guess we're just gonna have to find out. But for now, let's finish the job and then we can see about more fun. Maybe you'll show me around?

[unphase]

Maybe, maybe not. Or maybe I'll have to dance well enough for the both of us. [she says with a teasing grin] I guess so! And I'd love to show you around! There's not much to see, but I can show it to you.

[often_impaled]

Hey, if you're the tour guide, I'll follow you anywhere. [Dante is suddenly super ready to finish off every last bug. Tinya is amazing motivation.] Think we're almost done here?

[unphase]

Flatterer. [she says with a saucy grin] And we're just about [she impales a final scorpion] done. Now for the even more fun part of the day?

[often_impaled]

I just call it like I see it. [Oh, that's hot. Nothing like a girl that can kick loads of monster ass.] I'm down for it. Show me all that Hadriel has to offer.

[unphase]

Then I like the way you see things. [she wipes down and sheathes her katana] And, hmmm. We could start at the park, but it's in kind of bad shape. Or at the hot springs, but they're not working right now. Actually, a lot of stuff is in a bad state since the aliens aren't here. About the only good time left is the Speakeasy.

[often_impaled]

So basically, let's make it quick and then head over to the Speakeasy. [That is one hell of a katana, he really does enjoy seeing weapons like that. It's not like his Devil Arms, but it's still a fantastic piece.

Vergil would probably enjoy it.]

[unphase]

I think we're done here. [looks around and survey the scorpion corpses littered around them] You're really good at this. Now on to the Speakeasy! Follow me.

[she leads him towards the exit and starts on their way to the Speakeasy]
