This morning you woke up and you just couldn't stand the sight of your roommate. You know you thought they were cool - but what is with them? Old you was definitely wrong. Old you thought they were cool. But new you - new you knows better. It's time to go find some cool new friends, not those losers you usually hang out with.
Oh wow, what about them? Yeah, that one. You always thought you hated them, but now that you look a little harder... that standoffish attitude is cool is hell. Maybe you two should hang out a little and get to know each other. Maybe you've misjudged them all this time. You might just have a new best friend!
For a few days, everything is topsy-turvy and (in retrospect) a little uncomfortable. You don't like the people you actually love, and you're super into the folks that you usually can't stand. It all makes sense at the time - but afterwards maybe not so much. So make new friends, wake up regretting it, and go apologize to your old ones! It's all cool. You know it was Confusion's fault.► This log covers December 13th-December 21st.
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If someone hates you so much they just can't stand to look at your face anymore, like for real, please let us know here.

lup l open
[Lup's list of folks in Hadriel who absolutely suck has seemingly tripled overnight.
The elf's started the day off just pissed off at the sight of her closest family, immediately shoving her husband out of the bed they share and then bickering loudly with her twin while they'd both tried to work in the kitchen. Eventually, just the sight of them alone was enough to push Lup out into the icy chill of this new world, bundled up and looking irritated at the mere thought of those she'd left behind at home. It sucks outside, but it sucks even more to have to be in their presence.
She needs a distraction, which is exactly why she suddenly calls out to the first person she sees.]
Hey, you. Yeah, I'm talking to you. We're friends now. Consider yourself lucky.
ii; for positive cr
[Lup's never been a subtle person. When she's pissed at someone, when the mere sight of them sets her off, she's always been one to let them know.
So whoever it is, wherever they are, if any of her friends or family try to interact with the woman over the course of the event, Lup's going to end up cutting them off with a dismissive wave of her hand before they even finish their sentence.]
Stop. Just stop. I've had enough of your whole thing today. Shoo.
iii; Wildcard
[ooc: hit me up with any other prompts or let me know if you want one specially made up!]
iii baybee
Taako's no stranger to being pissed. His crabbiness is hardly uncommon when it comes to his life, and anyone who knows him will know what it looks like when he's mad- the way he makes it known on his face, the slumped shoulders, the way he always has to get in a dig. And he feels really like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, when he crawled out of Kravitz' arms and everything just felt fucking weird. On top of that, something in the rhythm of his movements with Lup was fucked in the kitchen this morning, and she stormed out before he could even get in a really good one-liner-- which, rude, honestly. He doesn't catch it's not the same playful rudeness they had before, but something really bothering him, simmering down in his stomach.
He keeps himself busy; he stays out of the house, occasionally camps in an abandoned or empty apartment, returns to things he hopes will make him happy, like blasting a hole into the lake to try fishing. Except the fish are gone so of fucking course there's nothing, and this city sucks and he's missing something. And that's the thing he hates. The sensation of missing, when something is just not in it's place.
Usually, he'd go to Lup for this. Or Kravitz, or Barry, or Angus, but all of them are acting like such assholes right now and there's just fuck all he can do. This builds, like these things do, until he finally runs into her- literally- trying to head back to the lake. They bump shoulders, something that should be innocent and happy, and it's clawing at the void in his chest instead.]
We've got a whole damn city and you can't just chill for a few days? Honestly?
no subject
Of course Taako can't just leave it alone. Of course he has to dig his heels in stubbornly and kick up a fuss, just to make sure that someone is paying attention to him, cause Taako Taaco can't exist for even a second without that kind of validation.
Their shoulders crash, no touch of friendliness in the contact, and Lup's already rolling her eyes as she spins to glare at him, hands curled up at her sides.]
That's pretty rich comin' from you. I said to leave me alone and yet here you are, following me around, like usual.
no subject
Following you around? You know I like to hang out at the lake because you fuckin' stalk me. This is my space. You can go literally anywhere else.
[Of course, she just has to start something. Can't just let it be, get away from him. How clingy does she have to be?]
Go on. Shoo. Chaboy is planning on having a good day, sooo.

Lup. [simple and sweet.] Pleasure an' all that shit. You wanna hit the speakeasy an' grab a drink? I barely feel the cold anymore an' even I hate this weather.

Sure! I mean, why not? [a pause] Wanna go shopping?
no subject
Fuck yeah I do! [Granted. Shopping is a little hard to do in Hadriel, especially in a snowy tundra. But look, they'll figure it out. The most important part of shopping is the togetherness, duh.]
Quick, what's your favorite food?

[a lot of the fun about shopping in Hadriel is seeing what awful clothing the aliens have seen fit to provide them with and making fun of it with someone else]

Caedra | OTA
Well, no time like the present to fix that little issue. Time to smooth out her skirts and correct an old error.
An invitation:
The hedge of illusory thorned vines still stands around the house, but today there's a clear path that makes its way to the door. Above the house, a glowing magical sign periodically pops up in the air: "Free coffee!" It's a good thing she collected so much of it when the Door was acting up. Time to share it all with some new friends, or get to know people she had previously shunned. To any who walk up, the door is wide open, and inside a beaming demon awaits with mugs and hot drinks. "Are you cold? Here, come on in!"
Making amends:
There are a lot of people in this city that Caedra has wronged. They're not likely to trust her, she knows, but she truly wants to make up for it. She won't apologize, because she doesn't regret her actions, but perhaps they can move forward from where things were last left. Have you been injured or killed by her? She'll approach with a smile that's far softer than normal, no sword in sight. "I think we may have gotten off on the wrong foot," she begins. "I'd like to try again."
Wildcard
((I'm definitely open to other ideas! And especially would like to talk to those who have positive CR with her so we can decide how she currently feels because we all know she can get violent at the drop of a hat. Feel free to PM me or message me at
An invitation
the glowing sign advertising free coffee is definitely a nice incentive. she hasn't had a good cup of coffee since the Double R Diner back in Twin Peaks. she's looking forward to this.
today's gonna be a good day, she can feel it.
and when she greets Caedra at the door she smiles warmly and takes the offered cup of coffee]
A little cold, yeah. I'd love to come in.
no subject
[The options are relatively limited. Caedra hasn't bothered much with furnishings beyond what came with the house. Living alone means they typically work just fine for her anyway. The main room has a coffee table and a sofa, and a small table with one chair - though the other is visible outside on the porch next to a pile of paper. Some look like wanted posters, but she's clearly been using the backs as a writing surface judging by the amount of mysterious inked lettering all over them.
Caedra herself opts for the couch and puts her feet up on the coffee table, once the door is safely closed to keep the cold at bay and her fingers are wrapped around another hot mug of black coffee.]
It's so good to see you here. I wasn't sure if you would want to come. I know I haven't always been kind. How have you been?

Invitation
But today.. today there's an invitation for coffee. And he can smell it. He's never wanted anything more in his life than a good cup of coffee. This is someone who's normal day at the station started with about three cups followed by a few 5-hour energy drinks to keep him wired enough to not fall asleep in the sleepy little town he patrols.
So while the vines are forboding, the path opening in it is enough to lure him in. And for some reason seeing Caedra there fills him with a strange feeling, like seeing an old friend and catching up. Maybe that's just what they should do.]
Oh man, you have coffee? You are my favorite person right now.
[Person, demon, whatever. It's all the same. They're all friends here.]
no subject
Some of them. This one clearly is, as she waves him forward once she spots him, beckoning him to come on in and sit down.]
I do! There was a bunch of it all over the islands a couple months back so I grabbed up as much as I could. Make yourself at home. You're Pratt, right?
[They only met briefly, but he's been on the network since then, and she pays attention even if she has little to say over those strange phones. With a warm smile, she pours him a cup and pushes it toward him.]

did you say FREE COFFEE
She has no particular destination in mind, but the glowing sign absolutely catches her attention and and sends her veering off course. She doesn't care who's offering it; her slight caffeine addiction has suffered lately. Poking her head in, she offers whoever the host is a smile.]
Hi? Is there really free coffee? Actually, I owe you a lot for it anyway if it's for real.
no subject
[Caedra calls from the kitchen, then steps over with a full mug to see who's at the door. A flicker of mixed emotion passes through her at Elena's face, though it's no fault of the woman's. Honestly, how could she be married to Nate, of all people?
Lovely Elena deserves far better.
It passes quickly and she holds the door open with one hand as the mug of coffee is presented with the other.]
Elena! Come on in. Don't worry about owing me a thing - but yes, it's definitely real. One of the spice smugglers back home brings me these all the time and it seems the Door recently saw fit to stock me up. It's such a rare treat!

Invitation
She follows the path with a sense of cautiousness, peering into the home like a wary animal. The woman inside seems to notice her quickly and smiles and it's surprisingly refreshing and Sharon finds herself mimicking the smile in return, somehow willingly at ease around an absolute stranger (though one she's unaware she's heard of),"I, uh... I'm a little chilly, yeah."
There's something distinctly uncomfortable about being in another person's home but Sharon ignores her own disquiet in favor of this stranger and the coffee and warmth she's offering. She steps inside, rubbing her hands together to warm them more quickly. She looks around, checking for other people.
"I'm kind of surprised you don't have a line."
no subject
She gestures toward the couch, or the small table nearby, encouraging Sharon to have a seat, and offers her a mug. "I know, but people have been filtering in one by one and it's been such a pleasure to get to talk with them. Lots of old and new faces both. You're Sharon, right? I think we met once before, briefly."

Angus McDonald | OTA!
[ At first, Angus thinks he's just woken up on the wrong side of the bed. As the day goes on, he concludes that no, he's fine, it's just that everyone else is being totally insufferable for some reason.
The hours wear on, and the more annoyed Angus gets with his friends and family, the less good-natured and patient he becomes. Sharp remarks are met with rolled eyes and passive-aggressive barbs that are just barely hidden under a polite veneer. He's downright rude, which in anyone else his age would mean that he's finally becoming a surly teenager. Eventually, annoyance gives way to outright frustration, and Angus just whirls around at whoever's bugging him now, and snaps: ]
God, just leave me alone!
B) Moving out!
[ Angus is surrounded by jerks.
That shouldn't be news considering who he lives with, but even mild-mannered Barry Bluejeans is grating on his last nerves, and he can barely stand to live under the same roof as the rest of his family. Luckily, he doesn't have to. Angus has packed up his belongings and is in the process of moving across town, bundled up and equipped with a backpack full of books and clothes, and a blanket that's Levitating along behind him like a magic carpet.
He doesn't leave a note - it's not as if the others would miss him. Besides, he's lived on his own before. He'll be fine.
You might run into him while he's searching for an empty apartment to hole up in... or while he's getting supplies from one of the shops, loading boxes of snacks and cans of preserved food into the middle of the floating blanket. Or you might smell smoke coming from next door, because your new neighbour has started a (carefully controlled!) magic campfire in the middle of the living room. Who knows! ]
A
But as boring as it is, he wasn't expecting that response.]
E-Excuse me?
[Barry is frozen in place, goofy holiday sweater on, pen in hand, eyes like deer in headlights at little Angus McDonald, shouting at him to leave him alone.]
What'd you say..?
this is like watching an angry kitten whap a dog upside the nose
Just... I'm really not in the mood, sir!
[ The turbo-liches in charge may be able to mess with his emotions, but by god they will not take away his formality! ]

agent maine | ota
[ Usually, Maine isn't one to approach strangers without reason. Not because he's afraid of them, but because he just doesn't care about them. He's not a friendly person by nature, and the recent (and perhaps permanent) loss of his voice has made him even less likely to socialize.
But there's something about the stranger he's looking at now. Something that turns what would normally be disinterest into ... well, interest.
So guess what, stranger? There's a seven-foot-tall man built like a brick wall approaching you. Lucky! ]
( ooc: also open to wildcards! current cr, please hit me up here for plotting before jumping in ♥ )
closed to carolina
One of those things is an early morning workout. And naturally, the person he looks to when seeking a workout buddy is Agent Carolina. She doesn't object to the idea of him joining her, and Maine is pleased.
So it's strange when he heads towards their meeting place the next morning and finds that he's ... not looking forward to this. That he's annoyed by the idea that she probably got there first — because of course she would. She's Carolina. Always has to be first.
As soon as he sees her waiting, Maine's annoyance shows as a scowl. Fucking predictable. ]
no subject
Normally she wouldn't mind company on her runs or during her exercises, but today it is like something has crawled under her skin, leaving her itchy. She is there early, trying to keep stretching to keep her frustration at bay. He's not late, but he's also not early, and for some reason that is bothering her. She has to wait for him, like she always does. He might be strong, a powerhouse, but when it comes to speed, it's like a cheetah and an elephant. Why did she even start this?
She's shuffling from side to side, arms resting on her her legs as she stretches, and when she hears the approach of footsteps, her eyes dart up, and narrow. For a moment she's like that, a glare on her face, before she moves her eyes away from Maine.]
Come on.
[It's short and clipped. There's no hello, how you doing, or anything like that. Not even a moment to let him stretch out his muscles. If he isn't ready, she's not waiting for him.]
