Event Log: Is It a Wonderful Life?

Who: All characters participating in the event
What: The event log for Is It A Wonderful Life? event
Where: All over the city
When: Jan 4th-8th
Warnings: None

Throughout the next few days, you may find yourself plagued by visions and dreams of back home. The dreams will be lifelike and difficult to tell apart from reality, as the world will be constructed from what you remember of your world. However, unlike usual dreams, you won't be present, and will find yourself unable to be seen or heard by those around you.

The dreams are vivid reminders of what might happen in a world without you: a world in which you disappeared when coming to Hadriel, a world which desperately needs you back for some reason or another. You may see your parents putting up missing posters, your significant other moving onto their next relationship, or even your hated villain finally taking over the world without you there to stop them.

When the vision leaves, you're back here and nothing about the city has changed. Though maybe you have a different outlook on it now...

► This log covers January 4th-Januray 8th.

[ The shout catches her attention even a distance away. Once at the tower, she spots Cecily and climbs up, knocking on the wood to announce her presence. The gods are at still up to it, digging into their heads and scooping out their feelings like delicacies. ]

...What'd you see? [ Sharon has told herself "it's just them" and "just a dream" but she knows it doesn't feel that way. The vision made her heart ache, made her want to scream into the void and cry, so she knows it must have been awful for her friend. ]

Oh, you know. [ ... ] Just...things as they would be with my being here all this time.

[ If it goes on for longer, then what will happen? They'll assume she's abandoned them, or has been killed or kidnapped-...and the former is worse, honestly. They couldn't believe she'd leave them after everything they'd been through, could they?

She swallows, drawing her knees to her chest. ]

I assume it isn't only me having these wonderful visions?

[ ...The same sort of visions, then. She frowns deeply before hesitantly approaching Cecily and taking a seat next to her, close enough for their shoulders to touch if she leaned over. ]

Nah, I've been seeing shit, too. [ It broke her heart and horrified her all at once. Without her around, the cult grew; they found Vincent in their hunt for her, found Chris, already had Rose. Nothing good happened and their screams echo in her ears still. ]

It's not real, though. We both know that. We've been home and come back and... and it doesn't work like that. [ Her jaw is tight as if she's spent some time gritting her teeth in pain. These words are as much for Cecily's benefit as they are her own.

It's not real doesn't erase how the visions make her feel but it's her life raft right now, keeping her afloat in the face of overwhelming feelings of guilt, sorrow, and terror. ]

That's the thing, though, isn't it? It could be happening. If this place is a sort of other world that...carries on even when our own worlds are on hold, couldn't there also be another version of our worlds where that isn't the case?

[ She's seen an alternate future before, after all. It had been avoided, but it had also literally been a vision of the future with the Inquisitor gone. And...it had been dark. ]

I s'pose there's no use thinking on it even if it is real. [ Cecily mutters. ] We'll just fuel the gods so they can keep doing this sort of thing to us. If that world exists, then I don't know what we could even do to prevent it. Or aid its people.
