Throughout the next few days, you may find yourself plagued by visions and dreams of back home. The dreams will be lifelike and difficult to tell apart from reality, as the world will be constructed from what you remember of your world. However, unlike usual dreams, you won't be present, and will find yourself unable to be seen or heard by those around you.

The dreams are vivid reminders of what might happen in a world without you: a world in which you disappeared when coming to Hadriel, a world which desperately needs you back for some reason or another. You may see your parents putting up missing posters, your significant other moving onto their next relationship, or even your hated villain finally taking over the world without you there to stop them.

When the vision leaves, you're back here and nothing about the city has changed. Though maybe you have a different outlook on it now...

[Peter's stealth breakdown wasn't as stealthy as he'd thought it was. Better luck next time, Pete.

He doesn't answer the door yet, instead taking a moment to compose himself before answering.]

Uhm. Water?

[His voice isn't as steady as he'd like it to be, but he was just going to have to deal with it.]

[Jo is just good at hearing what she shouldn't. Always has been.]

Give me a sec. [She heads downstairs, finding a cup to fill before she returns a moment later.]

Peter?

[It's like a super power, but not a cool one.

Peter takes a moment to make himself at least a little more presentable. He's moderately successful. When Jo returns, he finally opens the door and tries not to look completely miserable.]

Hey. Sorry. Stomach's acting up.

[I mean it's half true]

[It's useful some times.

She can play along for a bit.]

Did you eat something? We should probably throw it out.

[He's going to pause to take a drink and give himself some time to come up with some really good, convincing bullshit story to give her. He doesn't even come close, but points for effort.]

No, it's... I didn't eat anything. Just uh, can't sleep.

...Which doesn't cause nausea, soooo... I got nothin'.

[A very convincing performance, if failure was the objective. Jo drops to a squat, getting closer to eye level with the teenager.]

Are you having dreams?

[She may be at around eye level, but Peter breaks eye contact pretty much immediately in favor of focusing on his glass. He's trying to come up with some bullshit, but nope. He indeed got nothin'. So instead, he nods slowly.]

Y-yeah. It, um. It was pretty bad.

[more like the worst dream he's ever had, to the point where it freaked him out so bad that he literally made himself sick. So yeah, pretty bad.]

[Poor kid. Jo flops onto the floor just outside the bathroom and sighs.]

Just because you're seeing it here doesn't mean it's real. [That might not help, but she's trying.]

[It helps, it's giving him something to focus on so he can talk himself through this fuckness.]

Logically, I know that. I can't know what's going on back home, it's just... what I saw, it's...

[He takes a deep breath, and pauses for a moment to gather his thoughts.]

Everything that I saw is completely within the realm of possibility, whether it's real or not. Things weren't... good. Back home.

[Oh, Jo knows that feeling. While her dreams were mostly things she kind of already knew were true, knowing those things made the possibilities even worse.]

I'm sorry. [And she knows that doesn't even help, but she wants to say it.]

There's one thing we know about being here. Two, I guess. [She laughs weakly.] Time doesn't pass back home.

I can't decide if that's like, reassuring? Or just concerning in different ways.

[Which is kind of frustrating, but at least Peter's more focused on that than he was on everything else that's bugging him. That's... kind of an improvement?

He sighs, rubbing at his face before finally dragging himself up off the floor.]

I'm gonna roll with reassuring. She's okay, I'm just... Overthinking things.
