Throughout the next few days, you may find yourself plagued by visions and dreams of back home. The dreams will be lifelike and difficult to tell apart from reality, as the world will be constructed from what you remember of your world. However, unlike usual dreams, you won't be present, and will find yourself unable to be seen or heard by those around you.

The dreams are vivid reminders of what might happen in a world without you: a world in which you disappeared when coming to Hadriel, a world which desperately needs you back for some reason or another. You may see your parents putting up missing posters, your significant other moving onto their next relationship, or even your hated villain finally taking over the world without you there to stop them.

When the vision leaves, you're back here and nothing about the city has changed. Though maybe you have a different outlook on it now...

Why disreputable? You could be a lot of other things if you wanted.

[ The Dog's good at talking, that's for sure. Ephemera isn't sure being disreputable is a positive, exactly; it's not what he'd choose to be named after. But then again, he's listening to a talking dog. All bets are off. ]

Such as?

[She is open to suggestions, although she does enjoy being what she is. After all, the Dog had chosen it for herself. It allows her a lot of leeway to do as she pleases, when she pleases, with what she pleases. To wiggle and worm out of answers as well. Plus, it does have a certain flair to it, she thinks.]

[ Hmm. Avoiding the question a bit there. Ephemera shrugs, taking another drag of nicotine. It burns in his lungs. Gives him something to think about. ]

You know. Infamous. Ignominious.

[ He knows big words. Well, that big word. ]

Seems pretty specific, being disreputable.

Ignominious is a bit of a mouthful though. I'd likely have to explain to most people what that meant.

[Not that she is saying that people are not smart enough, but the two d's do roll nicely off of her tongue.]

Dunno if that would be the first question to come up, [ Ephemera points out, rubbing her ears. ] Given the whole talking dog thing.

Most people are too stunned to say anything once I talk, although that does tend to come up eventually.

[Does she seem bothered by that fact? Not in the slightest, in all honesty. It is part of the appeal, and she hasn't even grown wings or suction cups on her feet. Perhaps one day she will fly around again, although it had been more fun watching her mistress scare people.]

... it is still amusing to watch.

[ Ephemera hums in agreement. This is happening. He's having a conversation with a dog. The Disreputable Dog.

Well. Could be weirder. He's not sure how, but Hadriel has yet to disappoint. ]

Gotta get your kicks somehow. Where're you staying, anyway? Do you live in a house or what?

Here, there, and everywhere.

[With Atem for a time, but since his departure, the Dog just comes and goes as she pleases. The cold doesn't actually bother her, given that this form is a mixture of Free and Charter Magic made to appear like a dog.]

Plenty of places to see.

Aren't you full of riddles.

[ Though, talking dog. Why not? ]

That's true. This place is nothing if not interesting.

I'm full of many things.

[Riddles is good. Twists and turns, and any food that she can munch up if given the chance.]

Very interesting. Even digging a hole leads to all sorts of things.

[But that is something that the Dog enjoys, so of course she partakes. Plus, she is on a mission for roots.]

I'm getting that impression.

[ Probably not a regular dog. Even with the talking.

Oh, well. He's seen weirder. And this one isn't trying to kill him. ]

Yeah? What sorts of things?

Other holes! To lost or hidden places that have been forgotten about.

[Sometimes to bones that she has hidden there before, but that's another story. The lost places hold a special interest to the Dog, although that may well have something to do with where she had been for years beyond count. Not that she had minded.]

[ Ephemera huffs out a laugh. ]

Guess I should've expected that one. You find any of those in Hadriel?

No, not yet, although I do ponder taking a trip to the mountains.

[When she gets bored, she might just wander off to sniff around new corners and see what else lays around the land. In that respect, she does miss her mistress, as she had been a very good companion for traveling and exploring.]

That'd be quite the trip. You could get one of those packs, for dogs. Bring some supplies with you.

[ Ephemera's seen those. Some of the Insurrectionists used dogs, back in the day. ]

Packs for dogs?

[A... dog pack?]

Yeah. Little backpacks and shit.

[ That's how they work, right?? ]

I mean. Might be a little tricky since you don't have thumbs.

No, but I do have paws.

[Which may not seem like much, but it is something. She can do marvelous things with them, if she so chooses to. But he does have her thinking now.]

That would make some things more convenient.

[ Four of them. Maybe that's enough. ]

Yeah. You could ask one fo the gods, if the shops don't have any.

You just ask these gods and they give you things?

[One little ear perking in his direction.]

More like they'll offer you a trade. You give them something, they'll give you something.

What sort of something? Do you think a paw shake will work?

[She could also tender in licks, or allowing them to pet her...]

I don't know, [ Ephemera says honestly. He can never tell what the gods value. ] You'd have to ask them.

And they won't smite you if you decline their price?

Don't think so. [ Ephemera shrugs, putting out the last of his cigarette against his gauntlet. ] Haven't heard of anything like that, anyway.
