Event Log: Is It a Wonderful Life?

Throughout the next few days, you may find yourself plagued by visions and dreams of back home. The dreams will be lifelike and difficult to tell apart from reality, as the world will be constructed from what you remember of your world. However, unlike usual dreams, you won't be present, and will find yourself unable to be seen or heard by those around you.

The dreams are vivid reminders of what might happen in a world without you: a world in which you disappeared when coming to Hadriel, a world which desperately needs you back for some reason or another. You may see your parents putting up missing posters, your significant other moving onto their next relationship, or even your hated villain finally taking over the world without you there to stop them.

When the vision leaves, you're back here and nothing about the city has changed. Though maybe you have a different outlook on it now...

Uh-huh. It was a choice. I could either die or be possessed by a demon. So I made my choice and wound up here.

A demon? [ Maker. ] ...Well, I'm glad that you've had this chance, at least. You don't deserve either fate, but you do deserve to live.

[ Laura's been nothing but cheery and pleasant for as Cecily's known her, and this...is just more proof that the world - or, worlds - are unfair. ]

Yeah. One who'd been going after me for years. [she smiles] Me, too. I'm glad to be alive, even in this fucked up place.

At least it's full of people who don't want to kill you. And no demons. ...Except the one, actually. Is it still here?

[ She can't remember the name, but is pretty sure there'd been a demon...woman...around (?) ]

[a bitter laugh] Yeah. She's here all right. Serving as a walking, talking reminder of what I died to avoid. The bitch.

[after the thing where one's enemies became friends, her feelings towards Caedra have grown more complicated, but it's easy to fall into old ways]

Do you know anything about her? ...She did kill someone, didn't she?

[ And yet (Cecily assumes), they're allowing the creature to walk free. Such is the lawlessness of Hadriel. ]

I know that she talks too much when the fake gods put the mind-whammy on 'er. And I know she killed the Sewing Shop lady and a kid named Charles who used to be here. Beyond that, she must've pissed someone off, 'cause you don't get sealed into an iceberg for a month for nothing.

[and yeah, she's roaming free. Laura's given up on warning people about her because no one seems to care as long as it's not their friend being killed]

For a month? [ Well, good. Maybe she learned her lesson. ] ...If Nick thinks she's all right left on her own, then maybe she is. ...But, if she hurts anyone else...well.

[ Maybe vigilante justice will be necessary. ]

Uh-huh. I had to see it for myself to believe it. [Laura would rate that possibility as optimistic] If she hurts anyone else, she should be ready for that person's friends to fall on 'er like a ton of bricks. [which she would not be opposed to in the slightest]

Well, everyone here has quite a lot of pent-up rage and all that, so she'll be destroyed instantly, I assume.

[ As she was after the first murder, probably. ]

[she laughs] What I would give to see that. That smug look wiped off of her face. It would be fucking awesome.

[she assumes someone got some kind of revenge? she's really not sure]

Maybe one day we'll all be treated to a demon destruction spectacle. For now, though, we can only dream.

[ And stay alive, which. Is sort of the more pressing thing. ]
