Throughout the next few days, you may find yourself plagued by visions and dreams of back home. The dreams will be lifelike and difficult to tell apart from reality, as the world will be constructed from what you remember of your world. However, unlike usual dreams, you won't be present, and will find yourself unable to be seen or heard by those around you.

The dreams are vivid reminders of what might happen in a world without you: a world in which you disappeared when coming to Hadriel, a world which desperately needs you back for some reason or another. You may see your parents putting up missing posters, your significant other moving onto their next relationship, or even your hated villain finally taking over the world without you there to stop them.

When the vision leaves, you're back here and nothing about the city has changed. Though maybe you have a different outlook on it now...

Not amongst the nobility, no. Women usually curtsy and men do this. [she releases her grip on his hand, curls it into a fist, bends her arm at the elbow, and places her fisted hand over her heart while bowing her head]

Oh, cool! That's the kind of stuff they used to do like, a really long time ago.

[she's always been a fast learner]

How long ago was a really long time ago for you?

[she's asking the guy who thinks "The Empire Strikes Back" is a really old movie like YESTERDAY was a long time ago for this kid.]

I'm talkin' in the like, hundreds of years range. I mean, there might be other countries that still do stuff like that? But I've never seen it.

[what's "The Empire Strikes Back?"]

That seems to be the common reaction. Thedas seems to be behind the times. These phones would be considered magic where I'm from.

[god he hopes all the star wars movies drop in some day, he has got to educate the people]

I mean, it's only been over the past like, hundred years that our technology's really taken off like this. Once you hit that stride, it's just, like, bam. Before you know it, you'll be landing people on the moon and chatting with people on the other side of the planet in real time.

[she would ask "what's a movie?" should she know.

...all of that? In a single Age? I can't even begin to imagine such a thing.

If an Age is like, a hundredish years, then yeah. People are capable of some pretty amazing stuff.

Yes, it's one hundred years exactly. I would . . . love to see such progress come to Ferelden. It could help make up for what we lost in the Blight and the civil war.

I think you'll get there. Your world's progression might take a different sort of path than mine, but that doesn't mean you can't get there some day.

Some day. Likely not within my lifetime, but some day.

Maybe, but who knows? Every world is different. How old are you, anyway?

Every world is different, true, but Ferelden has been dealt two terrible blows. It will take time to recover, still more to thrive. And I'm sixteen.

That's fair-- wait sixteen, seriously? Man, I had you pegged for like twenty.

[she looks surprised] Twenty? No, not at all. I had just turned sixteen when I was Conscripted.

That-- yikes, wow. That's like, a lot of responsibility for someone your age?

[Peter sit your ass down you have no room to talk]

Really? Where I'm from, I'm already considered a grown woman. I'm engaged to be married once I go home.

[and she's rather put out that the marriage has been postponed because this place chose to intervene]

Wow, that is nuts. You're not even considered an adult until you're like eighteen where I'm from, and even then you can't buy alcohol until you're twenty-one.

That's. . . odd. Why would they make you wait an additional three years?

Beats me. There are other countries that just let you do it at 18.

I remember my elder brother Fergus at eighteen and at twenty-one. He didn't seem all that different between the two ages.

I mean, everybody's different. Also technically the human brain doesn't finish developing until someone is in their mid twenties, so like me now might not be too different from me five years from now. Which is probably a scary thought.

But if it keeps developing, wouldn't you be different?

Mmm, kind of. What makes you you doesn't change, like your personality and memories, you still have all that stuff. You just get better at things like problem solving or realizing when something is super dumb and that you shouldn't do it.
