Event Log: Is It a Wonderful Life?

Throughout the next few days, you may find yourself plagued by visions and dreams of back home. The dreams will be lifelike and difficult to tell apart from reality, as the world will be constructed from what you remember of your world. However, unlike usual dreams, you won't be present, and will find yourself unable to be seen or heard by those around you.

The dreams are vivid reminders of what might happen in a world without you: a world in which you disappeared when coming to Hadriel, a world which desperately needs you back for some reason or another. You may see your parents putting up missing posters, your significant other moving onto their next relationship, or even your hated villain finally taking over the world without you there to stop them.

When the vision leaves, you're back here and nothing about the city has changed. Though maybe you have a different outlook on it now...

[He shrugs and takes another drag off his cigarette.]

Using what, exactly? They don't bleed.

[ Ephemera just shrugs. He's got no person feelings about the gods. They keep Drake alive and he's tankful for that, but his goodwill doesn't go much further. It's just the reality of this place, something to be contented with. Like the weather. ]

Sure, the Null got some good hits in. But unless somebody figures out how they managed that one, I don't see the point.

To be clear, I'm not plannin' anything. If I wanted to kill 'em, I'd let 'em know.

[He'd of course have to have a very good plan already in place, but you know. At least he's honest about his intentions.]

It's just nice to know where you stand, right? That if shit hits the fan in the worst way, we're not totally fucked. Though I guess we might be.

[ For his part, Ephemera doesn't usually let his enemies know he's coming. Not unless the point is to make sure they know who's killing them. He's tried to move past that part of his life. ]

Hnn. But we are still standing. Something to be said for that, in the end.

True. As long as we're still here, we can figure out whatever the hell comes at us. You can technically do anything until you're dead.

[This is either the kind of confidence bred of having no natural enemies, or the kind of confidence born from brash stupidity. Spoiler alert, it's the second one.]

[ Ephemera raises an eyebrow, but doesn't argue the point. ]

Sure. That's one way to think of it.

[He stubs out what's left of the cigarette and stands.]

Shit, I don't think I got your name. Thanks for the smoke, though.

[And with that nice little respite over, he returns home.]
