It's freezing down to your bones, but nothing around is going to help with that. The closest thing to warmth might be some horrific movie posters. Some of these movies have never existed, but they're cringey and awful all the same. Maybe once you get back home, you can cleanse your pallet with a trip to the theater, but until then you'll just have to wonder who in their right mind could have authorized a movie called The Thrilling Three, apparently about a trio of clowns in the Wild West. Maybe. It's hard to tell from the poster.
If nothing else, maybe the paper will be good for kindling for the Rathalos flying overhead. These wyvernlike creatures are almost always in flight and are capable of shooting fireballs down to the icy ground below, so at least there's that to warm you up? Before you get too comfy, be sure to notice the extremely sharp talons, sturdy scales, and very sharp teeth they sport, which may also give you some trouble.
Maybe it's time to find some cover? They might not be able to fit into the smaller rooms in the building, so now would be a great time to run for those.
Once you've finished dreaming about a warm beach vacation, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

You have my thanks. [ The young queen offers with a little inclination of her head. The creatures flapping overheard and aiming fireballs down below are new...but, then, they always are. Just another offering from the Door, meant to test them, and one who has found its way out of the Colosseum. ]
Have you seen anything like it before? [ Some of these beasts are familiar to them. Occasionally. Recognizing the manticores hadn't been especially helpful in protecting herself from them, in that case, but it would be good to know the weakness of these monsters, if possible... ]
no subject
I'm afraid not. You?
[ But she can already guess the answer. She crouches down, out of sight of the creature, and peers up at it, her brow furrowed in concentration. ]
They must have some weakness.
no subject
It may be too powerful for just one fighter. [ She suggests lightly, knowing she'll be of no aid to this woman and not wanting either of them to end up dead. ] We ought to leave it to the Guard.
[ The thing is pretty big. It almost reminds her of the dragons she'd left behind and hadn't seen in years, now. ]
no subject
Oh - no, no, I'm not a -
[ A fighter? Her? In any case, leaving it up to someone else sounds like a fantastic idea right now. ]
...Who are the Guard?
no subject
You haven't heard of them? They're rather vocal on the network.
no subject
[ She shakes her head, obviously lost. Never let it be said, though, that Lucretia isn't a quick learner. Being thrust headfirst into an unfamiliar place is nothing new. ]
Hadriel, then. [ A pause. ] That's - the name of the city? Or a larger area?
no subject
[ She hadn't wanted to assume, but if this woman is asking after the name of the city, then it must be true. ]
The city. If this world has a name, then I don't know it. [ And nobody else does either, she guesses, or she'd have heard it through the proverbial grapevine. ] I may be able to answer some of your questions, but there are a lot of them for which we have no answers.
no subject
[ There's no use denying it. She looks curiously at the device - network? - then back up at Dany, laughing a little helplessly. ]
I-I'm honestly not sure where to start. [ She looks around briefly, as if hoping for some clue as to what to ask first. ] Who - who is we?
no subject
[ She doesn't mind answering questions, but she does mind being attacked by monsters. ]
"We" the group of people who have been brought here from our own worlds. Some are from the same place, but our homes are all...very different from one another. [ Dany is already wondering what sort of place this woman is from as she peers sideways at Lucretia. ] You'll see that for yourself soon enough.
no subject
[ Lucretia is all for any plan involving getting away from monsters, okay. She waits until they've started moving to resume her questions. ]
Brought here. [ That sounds...worryingly deliberate. ] By whom? And why?
no subject
They say that it is the Door - some kind of sentient, magical artifact - that draws us in from our worlds. There are gods that have sway over us while we are here, but they claim to have no power over the Door, or over who comes and goes.
[ That sounds like a lie by her estimation, but that's clear enough in her expression and tone without her saying it. ]
no subject
But a sentient, magical artifact. One powerful enough to draw people from one plane, or at least one world, to another? ]
What is this Door? Where did it come from?
no subject
[ For as much as she wants (wanted?) to leave Hadriel, Dany still has very little information about the Door and its abilities. ]
no subject
[ She'd hardly looked at the strange flat box - she'd been too busy fighting for her life. But it sounds like some form of Stone of Farspeech, and she vows to take a closer look later, even if she's not sure who exactly she's supposed to be sending messages to.
It's clear that this girl doesn't have the answers she seeks, though, and she restrains herself from asking more. Instead she mimics Dany's movement, glancing around for any signs of the monsters that had greeted her. ]
Is it safe here, or do we need to keep moving?
no subject
You should be safe here, further into the city. If you're injured, then I can take you to the Clinic. The healers there are gifted.
no subject
[ She smiles gratefully at the girl, surreptitiously checking her over for any obvious injuries at the same time. Not that she has any reason to think Dany would hide her own injuries, but you never know. ]
And you? Are you hurt at all?
no subject
[ Dany sighs, looking down at her folded hands, but then offers a small, nearly apologetic smile. ]
Forgive me. It...truly isn't all bad here.
no subject
You're not exactly selling it. [ She smiles, trying to soften her words. ] There must be some good parts, though.
[ Right...? ]
no subject
[ Though it often comes at a strange - or terrible - price, since those meetings are often the result of the gods' influence... ]
no subject
I'm sure you have interesting stories, too.
[ Somehow, she can tell. She smiles, remembering belatedly that she hasn't yet introduced herself. ]
I'm Lucretia, by the way.
no subject
[ Some from Hadriel, naturally. You can't spend years in the city without going through Some Shit. ]
I am Daenerys. [ She offers, smiling faintly. ] I don't doubt that we'll meet again, Lucretia.
no subject
Thank you very much for your help, Daenerys. It was nice to meet you.
