Intro Log: Cinema Sins

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-13th
Warnings: None

It's freezing down to your bones, but nothing around is going to help with that. The closest thing to warmth might be some horrific movie posters. Some of these movies have never existed, but they're cringey and awful all the same. Maybe once you get back home, you can cleanse your pallet with a trip to the theater, but until then you'll just have to wonder who in their right mind could have authorized a movie called The Thrilling Three, apparently about a trio of clowns in the Wild West. Maybe. It's hard to tell from the poster.

If nothing else, maybe the paper will be good for kindling for the Rathalos flying overhead. These wyvernlike creatures are almost always in flight and are capable of shooting fireballs down to the icy ground below, so at least there's that to warm you up? Before you get too comfy, be sure to notice the extremely sharp talons, sturdy scales, and very sharp teeth they sport, which may also give you some trouble.

Maybe it's time to find some cover? They might not be able to fit into the smaller rooms in the building, so now would be a great time to run for those.

Once you've finished dreaming about a warm beach vacation, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers January 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

[That's right. Emotion based Astrals are the gods around these parts and that intricate balance between the people here and them is something she still doesn't understand. But Insomnia wasn't built in a day and neither was completely comprehending the way another world works.

All she can do is take his hand, give it a shake and be grateful for the opportunity to be near something familiar-gardens.

Oh, I'm Iris. It's nice to meet you and I'd love to get some grub. It's been a pretty long day.

[It gives her time to ask this guy some questions while they make their way across the city.]

Soooo how long have you been here for? Awhile?

Do you have a place to stay yet? They all have basic cookware, but if you haven't picked an apartment or house yet you're welcome to come back to mine for dinner. We like guests.

[ Off they go, then. The temple and his garden beside it aren't very far! Pell hesitates answering that question, though -- he doesn't like to frighten the newbies but it's. Well. Only the truth. ]

Yes, it's been those nearly three years. Sometimes people go home and come back, but I've just been here all that time. I don't mind it as much as some, however.

[Three years, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't sound long, but-

It feels like an eternity to someone who only arrived. To a person that's missing a part of her family and lives in constant fear that Talcott won't be okay without her, even though there are people back home protecting him.

It shakes her smile for a second, but the offer perks her right up again.
]

I found a place to stay, but if you don't mind the company, I'd love to join. And I can totally help you prep the meal. I'm pretty handy, you know. Oh, and if you're up for it, you can tell me about all the adventures you've had here while we make it.
pellameno: (all you need to know)

so sorry for the delay, i lost track of this!

[ Pell notices her falter, but she's back to smiling quickly enough. Perhaps at the offer of dinner, or just somewhere to be with other people. He returns it warmly, liking her already. ]

I'd love the company, actually. I don't know what adventures I could tell you about, though, I'm probably one of the most boring people here... whenever something terrible happens I'm just at the clinic, helping anyone injured. I'm a healer, not an action hero by any means.

What kind of stories were you after?
carrotkeeper: <user name=livebites> (and all their inside business)

no worries my friend!!!

Hey, don't underestimate yourself. People can't fight if there isn't someone to keep them safe-it's not boring at all. Everyone needs support.

[Even she, a mediocre potions thrower, has more than her fair share of tales from simply ambling behind the group. Healers are important and she overheard a few tales here and there from daemon hunters talking about their monster slaying woes to medical staff. He's probably heard way, way more things than he's given himself credit for.]

You can tell me anything you want. Like, oh! Tell some of your favorite stories.
pellameno: (listen close to everybody's heart)

[ Pell considers that, and after a moment nods his agreement. ]

It can get frantic doing support as well, but those aren't fun stories... did you want to hear about something that's happened here?

[ It's a smaller pool than the bad memories, but Pell does have some good ones. He isn't sure it's what she wants to hear, but it's something. ]

Alright, how about the time that the city was transformed into-- well it was a trick, I'm sure, but it felt real-- this beachside town. It was the first time I've seen what most here would consider a 'normal' city, and the water. I'd never seen so much water. A friend taught me to swim in the ocean, though I haven't gotten to try again since.

[ They're coming up to the dome his garden is in and Pell steps inside it, where it's significantly warmer. The garden is modest by the city's demands but big if it were just for a family -- about a 20'x20' square patch, at its center a glowing rock that he picks his way to carefully after setting his bag of tools down. ]

Here we are.

Too bad you can't come to Eos. We live right by the beach-the ocean's so beautiful and you can see everything by the lighthouse. You could swim for as long as you wanted.

[But she's mad jealous she missed the beach episode, especially with the frigid weather working its way into her bones every second, no matter how many layers she seems to put on. She's from a humid climate, okay. Even with the darkness, it's still pretty warm.

Thankfully, the garden is much nicer and she stretches her arms in front of her, the glowing rock catching her eye.
]

This is waaaayyy better. Too bad you can't heat up the whole city-oh, what's that thing? Some kinda crystal?
