Where: The colosseum and all around the city.

It's freezing down to your bones, but nothing around is going to help with that. The closest thing to warmth might be some horrific movie posters. Some of these movies have never existed, but they're cringey and awful all the same. Maybe once you get back home, you can cleanse your pallet with a trip to the theater, but until then you'll just have to wonder who in their right mind could have authorized a movie called The Thrilling Three, apparently about a trio of clowns in the Wild West. Maybe. It's hard to tell from the poster.

If nothing else, maybe the paper will be good for kindling for the Rathalos flying overhead. These wyvernlike creatures are almost always in flight and are capable of shooting fireballs down to the icy ground below, so at least there's that to warm you up? Before you get too comfy, be sure to notice the extremely sharp talons, sturdy scales, and very sharp teeth they sport, which may also give you some trouble.

Maybe it's time to find some cover? They might not be able to fit into the smaller rooms in the building, so now would be a great time to run for those.

Once you've finished dreaming about a warm beach vacation, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[He drops the shovel from his shoulder so he can lean on it, turning to face Shiro. He was trying to get out more and talk to people like a normal person so here's a good chance to start that.]

I've got plenty of time, was just heading to the range to do some more repairs.

Thanks. I'm Shiro, I got here with the latest arrival wave.

[ And he's already given up on telling people his full name with first and last name. After meeting a fully sentient creature literally called 'the Dog' he figures there isn't a need to adhere to human formality here. ]

Which means I'm honestly still a little disoriented. We have a range?

I just finished building it a few weeks ago, it's rough but serviceable. The downside is I don't have any ammo, so if you have a sidearm, you might not wanna waste your bullets.

I've been concentrating on the melee part of it. And archery.

I know a thing or two about meelee, but I doubt I'm going to be doing archery anytime soon.

[ He nods his head towards his right arm that is, well, nonexistent. ]

My team's sharpshooter is here though and he might want to try bow and arrow sometime, would that be alright with you?

[ Only a minor inconvenience. He believes in you! ]

Everyone is welcome provided they're not going to trash the place or set it on fire.

[ The amount of people who really want to use flaming weapons there is staggering. ]

Did you all come together?

[ Keith is more likely to set things on fir than Lance, so Shiro at least has no worries about recommending the range to the Paladin who is more interest in shooting practice. That's a good thing. So Shiro just nods understandingly at the fire concerns. ]

Not all at once. I arrived together with Lance, the sharpshooter I mentioned. Keith was here a month before us, so you might have met him. He has a teleporting blue pet wolf from space that is usually with him.

[ Because the wolf is far more distinctive in looks than Keith himself, so describing the latter feels pointless. ]

I'm pretty sure I would have seen a teleporting blue wolf. Which sounds amazing by the way.

[He has actually met Keith, but not the one that's here now, so that'll be interesting.]

How come other people showed up with animals? Why don't I have my wolves?

[As if someone who just showed up would have an answer. He shakes his head, realizing he's complaining pointlessly.]

Does he have a sniper rifle? I'm not quite set up for that kind of distance, but I can make some adjustments.

Cosmo - the wolf - is quite a sociable fellow as long as you get along with his master.

[ You know, just as a recommendation, since Pratt seems to like wolves as well and might want to hang with Cosmo if he ever sees him. ]

And yes, his usual weapon is an alien-made sniper rifle, but I think picking up regular bow and arrow is going to help broaden his skills as well.

Well that's good to know.

[New questline: skritch teleporting blue wolf.]

Alien-made means it's probably going to punch right through my targets and three hundred meters beyond. I'll see about setting him up with a bow and arrow.

What about you? I've got some melee setups.

[ Shiro gives a thoughtful look to his right shoulder and the lack of right arm attached to that part of his body. ]

I haven't fought at all since I lost my dominant hand, I probably need to start figuring out work-arounds there...

Your balance might be off, but you're not exactly helpless. I think you gotta overcompensate for it in your stance.

Worth a try anyway.

Definitely. I'm going to need to see about weaponry that works with only my left hand.

[ And as an explanatory addendum: ]

My former arm was a prosthesis that was intended for fighting so the issue of external weaponry didn't come up much.

Knives, small axes, lots of one-handed melee things. I suppose you could get real good with a pistol or a revolver too but that would take more ammo than we currently have right now.

[He blinks, thinking about that.]

Was... was your arm a gun?

A blade. Or at least that's the closest comparison I can make. It was alien tech.

[ And while the aliens who made it are people he hates, he definitely does miss the usefulness of the arm. It had started to really feel like part of him. ]

[He wants to say that sounds awesome - but stops himself. It would be kinda fucked up to tell someone their missing arm is cool.]

Ah. Well, I'm sure we can figure out something.
