It's freezing down to your bones, but nothing around is going to help with that. The closest thing to warmth might be some horrific movie posters. Some of these movies have never existed, but they're cringey and awful all the same. Maybe once you get back home, you can cleanse your pallet with a trip to the theater, but until then you'll just have to wonder who in their right mind could have authorized a movie called The Thrilling Three, apparently about a trio of clowns in the Wild West. Maybe. It's hard to tell from the poster.
If nothing else, maybe the paper will be good for kindling for the Rathalos flying overhead. These wyvernlike creatures are almost always in flight and are capable of shooting fireballs down to the icy ground below, so at least there's that to warm you up? Before you get too comfy, be sure to notice the extremely sharp talons, sturdy scales, and very sharp teeth they sport, which may also give you some trouble.
Maybe it's time to find some cover? They might not be able to fit into the smaller rooms in the building, so now would be a great time to run for those.
Once you've finished dreaming about a warm beach vacation, feel free to look around. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

The pose doesn't exactly help, but she doesn't comment on it, deeming it pointless to. (Seriously, she remembers complaints about whatever a Cactuar is, why...) )
You think?
( Yeah, she's definitely sure all her knowledge of Cactuars, whatever they actually are, involves complaints and—
Ah. It dawns in her eyes. That's where she heard the word. )
You from a place called Eos?
no subject
Yeah! You know it? Are you from there or-?
[In a world that vast, an unfamiliar face wouldn't be a surprise. This woman seems pretty tough, if her weaponry is anything to go by-it wouldn't surprise her if she was a hunter or one of the Lestallum residents.]
no subject
It never did happen, and the hope slowly faded, replaced by the warmth of caring about the people here. )
Not me. ( But it's hard not to notice that somehow, people who turn up here from the same worlds tend to know each other. No matter how many millions or billions of people are on that version of earth (or Eos), somehow these few people... they always tend to know each other, somehow.
What is up with that? ) There's a couple guys who are.
no subject
Noct and Ignis, right? They're a pair, aren't they? We're all friends-we used to hang out back in my world. I mean, Gladdy hung out with them way more, but they came to see me sometimes.
[But she's rambling in her excitement!! It's just so nice.]
Can't believe you've met them too. But I guess you'd run into everyone after awhile here.
no subject
She wonders if that's a deliberate feature of it, or something that happened without the gods knowing. )
Pretty much. ( Though people come and go easy enough. Like raindrops flowing down a window: there one second and gone the next. )
What's your name, then?
( She's heard a few things about Eos from Ignis, but she may as well put a face and a name together. )

[It's hard to say how well they know each other from the few words they've exchanged. They could be acquaintances or friends-either way, she knows her lug of a brother had to be the topic of conversation at some point.
And she wishes he was here, so she could introduce him properly, but-
The door is fickle and her brother's doing his job back on their world. It's for the best that he's back home.]

It might not bother her so much — speaking about Faith or Jay or any of the others might ache, but in the good way, where she knows they're in a much better place by being at home — but appearing and disappearing friends from home was too much of a theme when he first arrived. it's understandable. If the Door kept dragging Carl in and out, with no memories of his appearance here each time, she might think differently about remembering her friends. )
Heard a story or two. ( Seen a memory or two. Or something like it, with Hadriel. Flashes back to their worlds aren't exactly unusual in this place, but whether it's true or a construct is always somewhat debatable.
Kate holds out a hand to shake. ) Kate Galloway.
no subject
[The smile is impossible to shake from her face now that it's plastered across it. Even if she's not from Eos, it gives her the sensation of being home just by recognition alone.
Without hesitation, she reaches up to grab Kate's hand, shaking it and then pulling her hands behind her back, shifting from one foot to another, like she's antsy. She's just super happy is the thing.]
It's nice to meet you, Kate.
no subject
How much of this place you seen?
no subject
[Though she points off in some vague direction and quickly adds-]
I came from that way though and found an apartment-never really lived on my own before. Doesn't really feel like home yet, but I'll make it work somehow.
no subject
(And, perhaps, because so many of them don't have any skills to properly create a thriving city. More of them focused on how to defeat monsters than how to offer a good place to spend a night.) )
Could always room with someone. ( But she would personally recommend the independence route, it's character building and all the rest of it.
(Lord, she really is old, isn't she?) )
C'mon. ( She's been here way too long now. If nothing else, Kate knows her way around the city. ) Can give you the tour.
( If she came from near the spires, they'll go another way. )
no subject
[Not that she knows Gladdy. But the visual is powerful enough. There's a playful ring to her voice as she smooths out her skirt and pushes loose strands of hair behind her ear. She's always ready for a grand tour. Show her the ropes, Kate. Dang.]
Oh, that'd be so cool-thank you. You gotta show me every spot.
no subject
( Thanks for not making it a total nightmare, Hadriel.
But leggo, kiddo.
She leads them casually across the city with nods to various places created by the people who've been brought here, as well as a few of the notable sites, like the temples themselves. It's the kind of walk which lends itself well to talking along the way, since so much of Hadriel has been destroyed at one time or another. )
no subject
But even as the various destroyed ruins catch her eye, making her a little more somber, it sticks in her mind. There are few places she makes remarks on-a How sad, Hey, that's cool! and Whoooa, check that out, but passing a few broken down buildings, a couple more spirals, she goes back to-]
Hey, what did you mean by his memories? You couldn't actually see them, right?
no subject
There's an exhale, a pinch of the bridge of her nose, and Kate glances at the tip of the Colosseum in the distance. )
... Gods can make things like that happen. ( Memories, or dreams, or some really weird illusions. ) Anything that provokes emotions. Happened if you touched the other person. Went to wake him up and—
( She trails off as she gestures reaching for someone, and realises that... was probably saying too much. )
no subject
Went to wake him up? It's not like the buildings are cramped and people are shoved in together. She was able to easily find an empty apartment, so why-
There's a Look in her lil Iris eyes and she brushes some stands of hair behind her ear, glancing up at Kate with a curious, almost suspicious, expression.]
Wake him up? Where were you guys?
casually ruins ignis' life
...In his bed. ( She isn't embarrassed to be saying it, more like very exasperated because this is not something she's good at even with her friends (thank fuck for everyone involved back then that Faith is well-versed in the Kate-to-English dictionary and understands "he's a ... friend" for what it really meant), never mind a near-complete stranger who looks to be, what, more than half her age?
(And the same height, but that's neither here nor there.) )
1/???
no subject
[And then something clicks. It takes 0.2 seconds for her mind to catch up with her mouth because, look, she's been sheltered, but not like that.
In his bed, waking him up-
It's a weird visual and she blinks rapidly, glancing up at the sky and then back over to Kate. He's an adult and so is the woman in front of her, but she's never seen any of them with dates, even though she knows Gladdy tends to, well, make his way around towns.]
Oh.
no subject
[It's the five stages of teenage grief, probably. A mixture of hurt and betrayal that this is the first she's hearing about it, despite seeing him. They spoke!! They had an extended conversation and somehow this didn't come up?
She immediately pats her body down for her misplaced phone, pulling all her pockets, looking at the ground behind her-there's no way she left it-
By her bed, next to the moogle plushie, because she was going for a quick run outside. She hadn't intended to go this far.]
END
[And how will she show him? Well, that's for Kate to find out tonight when Iris blows up his phone with So Many Messages.]
So come on, give me the scoop! How long have you been, uh, sharing a bed for?
no subject
Even if she's pretty sure, by the look in Iris' eyes, that what she's about to say is only going to make things worse. )
Just over a year.
( Well, if he didn't want this on his head, he should have said something. Obviously. )
no subject
But she says over a year and-]
Ignis Scientia, right?
[Because she needs to be 100% sure. Just say it, Kate. Give her the verbal confirmation she needs to make his life a temporary nightmare.]
no subject
Tall, glasses, hooked on coffee.
no subject
She has a feeling Ignis isn't going to divvy up this information willingly, she has to ask-]
So you met here? A year ago? Come on, you gotta tell me everything.
