Things just seem a little weird at first - but then, things always seem a little weird in Hadriel. There's probably nothing to worry about, except that you know better, so there probably is. But at first, nothing is out of the ordinary. A creeping sensation on the back of your neck, a feeling of being watched, but isn't that kind of ordinary here?
Then things get weird.
Your coffee cup jerks suddenly, spilling hot coffee all over your lap. Your chair hurls itself over, with you in it. Your favorite jacket constricts, trying to strangle you. What are you going to do? Break your stuff? Run out into the frozen landscape, forsaking all possessions? Try to appease your belongings so they'll love you again? Good luck... hopefully you weren't too attached.► This log covers January 17-25th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get eaten by your nicest pair of pants, please let us know here.

Weird. ]
Yeah. Great how they have that in common. [ Family living, he guesses?
He loves how Poe just went ahead and Did That. And by love he means admires the fighting spirit behind it and how Poe is even now willing to go there, but he can't in good conscience fully support this artistic choice. His face says that. Notably in the eyebrows zone. ] What city couldn't use another murderer with a bad temper?
[ Big door couldn't bring in a a regular Jedi! Or maybe Rey. Rose. Solo. Chewie. Captain Cardinal! Captain Cardinal wouldn't be good, arguably, but he's not a throat-crushing tantrum-thrower. Couldn't bring BB-8 with them! No no. Get Darth Vader and Kylo Ren and Armitage Hux, and then make it so death isn't permanent.
A galaxy full of sentient life forms and they just keep getting garbage. It doesn't seem right. What if he did make himself fall asleep in order to avoid experiencing life. ]

Only in this case it's more like a myth stepping up from some kind of hell.
Poe laughs, very faintly. ]
I'm not sure what to do. Do we warn people? I warn them about Hux and Kylo Ren. But going on the network and announcing there are mass murderers here just... it seems like a bad idea. As bad an idea as it was in Riverview.

[ There's being suspicious of the gods, there's worrying about whatever scares them so badly that they're hopping from planet to planet, and then there's worrying about stirring the pot in a big way from within the resident ranks, so to speak. Death won't stick. There's definitely no tech here that can hold a Force user in jail. Yet.
Complicated things suck. ]
We don't have to worry about the First Order or the Empire sending a fleet out to back them up. Probably don't have to worry about people thinking they've got the right ideas, either. [ It took a while to get to realizing the truth in that, in Riverview. Definitely easier the second time around. The kind of people he's met in both places, they have some very strict personal stances on free will. ]
Maybe just-- word of mouth. Keep it quiet, but make sure people know what they might be dealing with. If they still wanna find them and make friends after that, it's on them.
[ He'd like to think any reasonable person wouldn't, after hearing half of what they've done. He'd like to think anyone who did still try would have some kind of reason for it, regardless of whether or not he's capable of understanding the reasoning. But the longer it's been, the less sure he is that he's ever really made himself believe that versus just really wanting to. ]

[ Poe exhales, a little knot of tension unraveling inside him again. No Empire, no First Order. Kylo Ren, Darth Vader, and Hux are just as cut off from their resources as he and Finn are. The two of them are still hopelessly outmatched against two Force users, but what else is new? They've been outmatched since the start. ]
Already brought it up with a guy named Nathan Drake. Apparently Hux has been here before. He was as surprised I knew the bastard as I was that Hux has territorial advantage. He can't have many allies if Nate's reaction is anything to go by.
no subject
He puts Nathan Drake on the common sense list. Preemptively. How long will it last? Who knows. ]
I wouldn't exactly call him a people person. Or an allies person. Hux works in tools and subordinates if they're not a higher-up. [ Which only Kylo and Vader probably are, technically? Maybe. ] And people don't like getting talked down to.
[ Hux is an incel and a weasel. Finn's weirdly... not too worried they're looking at a new First Order faction here. People have enough going on already. ]

[ Poe closes his eyes and exhales quietly. ]
Still feel better if none of them were here.
[ Duh. No kidding, Dameron. He shakes his head. ] I'm more worried about Vader getting allies, more than Hux or Kylo Ren. He just seemed so... Normal. Almost friendly. He saved me from getting cut to pieces by his lightsaber.
no subject
This whole prospect is uncanny valley. Pre-life support Darth Vader, a normal-seeming man, saving people from his own sentient lightsaber. Friendly.
What's next? Snoke turns up from his past and is a normal, friendly person? Kylo Ren vanishes and turns up as a teenager who hasn't slaughtered tons of people yet?
It's weird as hell. ]
Good first impression for anyone who never had a history lesson. [ Which is everyone from outside of their galaxy. So. Everyone. Finn takes in the lines of Poe's expression and wishes he had anything especially reassuring to offer. He can work on that. In the meantime, what if he's just really glad that Poe didn't get cut to pieces by a lightsaber. ] This is starting to feel a lot like politics.
[ It's all people politics. And he is not cut out for a politic. He is cut out for either a yeet or an anxiety. ]
no subject
Oh god. I hate politics. I went AWOL from the New Republic Navy over politics. ...Sort of, it was more complicated than--never mind.
no subject
You hate politics so much you can't even tell the story. Sounds about right.
[ There's humor to it. Complicated is as complicated does-- between the two of them, there's more than a few stories or topics they've neatly waved away under "complicated"-- but if Finn doesn't drag Poe in their own apartment, who will? ]
no subject
[ Okay, he's got nothing to follow up with. Still. Poe sticks his tongue out at Finn and rolls over. ]
I'm going back to sleep.
[ Okay, he's probably going to try and fail to get back to sleep, but it's the trying that matters, right? ]
no subject
At least one thing in this place stays the same. ]
Yeah, you do that.
[ Does Finn sound like he has a big grin on his face? Yes, absolutely. But Poe can't prove it because he's not looking anymore, so check and mate. ]
